Every full moon day of the month, the UNESCO World Heritage town of Hoi An sheds off its modernity and basks into its traditional avatar. The town cuts off ties with modern amenities like motorized traffic, fluorescent lights and transforms itself into a 18th and 19th century Chinese trading venue. The town features Chinese opera, chess and plenty of other recreational and cultural activities that take you back in the time. Colored lanterns are placed everywhere on the streets and the locals gather in temples to pay respect to their ancestors. The cuisine too reflects the taste of past centuries. This festival is celebrated every month on the full moon day and has become a major tourist attraction since the past few years.
