The change I want to see in the world, from a design stand point, is more than just a sustainable future. I envision utopias sustained within closed looped cycles; designed with biomimicry at the heart and functioning as exquisitely as Mother Nature’s ecosystems. Where the land, the sea and the body are respected and treated as the temples in which they are. Where being sustainable is no longer a question of moral integrity, cost and time but always the solution and resulting outcome. Where designing for every living thing for all time, is the only logical option. As far out of reach as this may seem today, I believe we undoubtedly have to start somewhere and with this as the ultimate goal in mind, I feel we would be headed in the right direction.

One of the deepest values I hold and something that continues to motivate me each day, is the importance of respecting all life on this planet. We are part of the cycle of life; our survival is dependent on the coexistence with Mother Nature. Protecting the world around us, and the ecosystems we inhabit is of the utmost importance, today and everyday into the future. Designing sustainably to respect all living things should always be the bottom line.

STARK ARCHITECTURE

The Mackenzie Village project is a multi-family, mixed use, mid-rise development located in Revelstoke BC. The project consists of 7 phases, with the first completed in 2019 and the second, currently well underway, with the aim to be completed towards the end of summer 2023. The current second phase consists of 4, four storey buildings, with 121 units total between the buildings. There is a mix of 2-4 bedroom units within the buildings and ground floor commercial units within three of the buildings. These buildings feature large balconies, spacious living quarters and beautiful rocky mountain views. Currently three of the four buildings have received occupancy, with the last building expected to received occupancy in the next few weeks.

STARK ARCHITECTURE

The Wedgewoods Lot 82 project is a 3500 sq.ft. new build, detached single-family dwelling just north of Whistler BC. The project started with the initial design consultation with the clients, along with a site investigation to position the new home in the optimal location to maximize the surrounding mountainous views. This projects features a streamline aesthetic, focusing on functionality and simplicity to meet the clients requests without compromising on beauty. The project is now complete with the final stages of construction wrapped up towards the end of summer 2022.

Additionally, there is a building permit drawing set to accompany this portfolio, upon request.

The Finch Drive Development is located in Squamish BC, just north of the downtown core. The site has recently been rezoned to accomodate 4 apartment buidlings, 20 duplexes and 18 townhouses. The duplexes are slated to start construction in the fall of 2023, with the rental apartment building (AP1) following afterwards. The second market apartment building (AP2) on the lower level of the development will be the next in line to start construction, with the townhouses after that and the last two upper apartments starting as the last phase to the project. The team is currently in the process of producing building permit drawings for AP1 and AP2, as the development permits were recently approved by the city of Squamish.
