With repetition of the same textured material on the surrounding wall of the building is helpful in locating exits if necessary. Placed both on the ground and at two to four feet in height on the wall allows for access from all occupants.

Redundancy of Sensory Information

On the second floor, this datum path is between an overhead view of the outdoor sensory garden and the rooftop patio. The glass walls keep for an open floor plan view while keeping constraints on noise transfer from one space to another.

Textured Material

On the first floor, the cafe is located directly next to the outdoor sensory garden. Placed next to the datum path also leading to near exits on this level of the museum. At each intersection of the path more light is transmitted to the ground as well as differentiation in texture to understand turns are available at this location.

The datum path is placed at the same location on each floor level. The path has a different texture from the surrounding floor material. The intersections of this path are indicated both by increased lighting as well as a denser material texture.
