‘REST’ is a textile collection designed for and [by] someone with a chronic illness. It started as a bed wears + accessories collection inspired by nature, Scandinavian design + brutalist architecture. But has evolved further into comfortable lounge style clothing using natural materials such as cotton.

The main thing highlighted in ‘REST’ is the materials and colours used. Many people like me, have issues with sensory overload which also accumulates into materials. Meaning some fabrics are too heavy, itchy and some pieces are too difficult to wear due to feeling restricting. There is a gap in the market which is not highlighting fashionable + functionable bed wares with an emphasis that these items are suitable with the sensitivities I have described. [ This project evolved into fashion wears during the Covid ‘19 pandemic due to having to evolve + create with what I had at home. However this progression may have naturally happened in time during this project as clothing is an issue that I wanted to explore. I am in some ways fortunate that I have had this time to expand this project into something even more personal ].

On a final note to this introduction, these works may not be to everyone’s personal taste, but this was about me exploring what I find calming + has been a personal journey though my illness.

I would obviously be thrilled if you liked my work for ‘REST’ but its cool if it is not for you. p.s. you do not have to have a chronic illness to take enjoyment from this project!
