Contents Editor’s Note It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Editor of Dance Review and at the same time be able to bring you a completely new look magazine.

It’s been a fairly hectic few months in the offices of Dance Review, with many sleepless nights being had by all as we tried to incorporate all of the comments which we have received from readers into a new look magazine to suit everyone’s tastes. At the same time it has been a very pleasurable experience for me, because it isn’t very often that you get to join a magazine at such an exciting time. I hope you will agree that the magazine looks great and over the next few months you can expect to find a complete mix of everything which the world of dance has to offer. From ballet to street dance, ballroom, latin and jive, if it’s in the news then you will find it here. We’ll also be talking to a number of dancers to find out what makes them tick – the first of which is Philippa White who is currently performing in balletLORENT’s Blood, Sweat & Tears. As if the re-design wasn’t enough we are also introducing a range of supplements designed to give you an in-depth look at different types of dance. This month we start with ballroom and with Strictly Come Dancing keeping us all glued to our seats on a Saturday night this should definitely be marked as a ‘must read’. I hope you’re as excited as I am about the new look magazine and I look forward to bringing you all the latest from the world of dance over the coming months. P.S: I’d love to hear your views, email me at tracey@dancereview.co.uk and let me know what you think! See you next month

News An exciting new season N

ational Dance Company Wales has embarked on a major UK tour with works by two of the biggest names in the business, both created at the flagship arts organisation’s Cardiff home. The double bill comprises Romance Inverse from Netherlands-based choreographer Itzik Galili and a new Stephen Petronio work created in the summer with the NDCWales team. Galili’s work has been championed by NDCWales and this new creation has delighted audiences in venues where it has been performed in the spring. Petronio’s new work marks the Company’s first commission from the hip New Yorker and will have all his hallmark excitement and fluidity, racing pace and glorious fashion, with a unique and distinct Welsh choral flavour. This new collaboration was created with the Company’s 10 international dancers during August and September and previewed at the arts flagship organisation’s home, Dance House at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff before going on the road. New dancers have also joined the artistic team with Ygal Tsur joining the Company from France and Gareth Mole and Harriet Bone who are both apprentices from

The Place, London. In addition Emma Lewis joins the company as the new Rehearsal Director. Artistic Director Ann Sholem said: “This is going to be an exciting new season with two energetic, imaginative and sympathetic choreographers whose work I have followed closely and been keen to introduce to UK audiences. “Peeled has been loved by our audiences as far afield as Bilbao and Brecon, Milan and Mold, and I am delighted the new work Romance Inverse is proving as popular. We took the work on our spring tour and wherever we performed the reaction was just sensational. It is great to be taking it to even more audiences in more venues throughout the autumn.” National Dance Company Wales will be touring to the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield, Venue Cyrmu in Llandudno and Theatr Brycheiniog in Brecon / Aberhonddu.

In addition there will be a number of ‘Meet the Artist, See the Art’ events taking place throughout November. These include ‘Departure Terminal’ which takes place on 26 November and comprises a number of short new works from company dancers who have been given a safe environment to start developing their choreographic ideas and creativity.

Previews Conjure up the magic

this Christmas I

t’s that time of year when the winter coat comes out of the wardrobe and we start looking forward to the festive season ahead. It’s also an exciting time in the world of dance as ballet companies launch their new seasons, and this year we have more than our fair share of excellent performances to look out for.

One performance which we all associate with Christmas is The Nutcracker but with a move away from the norm, this year there is also an emphasis on Cinderella, with large scale new productions of the ballet to be seen around the country.

few matinees, but both these full length classical ballets will be given matinees this season. Getting into Christmas mode, another Ashton classic and a favourite with all ages is Tales of Beatrix Potter which will be performed in a double bill with Peter and the Wolf for some performances and the delightful skating ballet Les Patineurs for others. The sets for Beatrix Potter are built on a huge scale, making the dancers who play Mrs Tiggywinkle, Squirrel Nutkin, Peter Rabbit, and other favourite characters, appear the size of the animals they are portraying against the oversized furniture and scenery. These programmes will run throughout the Christmas period before giving way to revivals of Giselle and Swan Lake in January.

One such production comes from The Royal Ballet with the revival of Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella which will be performed from 20th November and into December, with a special performance on New Year’s Eve. This ballet was first performed at the Royal Opera House in 1948, with Margot Fonteyn sharing the title role with Moira Shearer, who is famous throughout the world thanks to the classic film The Red Shoes. Ashton’s choreography to the Prokofiev score is a traditional interpretation, with the evil step sisters played in drag, originally by Ashton himself and Robert Helpmann (who also starred in The Red Shoes). The lavish sets include a long flight of steps at the back of the stage in the ballroom scene, where Cinderella makes her entrance en pointe with a cape spreading out behind her in a memorable scene. Wayne Sleep has in recent years played one of the step sisters, and the leading roles of Cinderella and the Prince are taken by a succession of the company’s principals.

Classic favourites Another Ashton revival this month is Sylvia which was first performed in 1952. Unlike most theatres, the Royal Opera House normally has

Meanwhile in the Linbury Studio Theatre downstairs at the Royal Opera House, William Tuckett’s popular work Faeries which combines dance theatre and puppetry will almost certainly delight the younger generation. Faeries can also be seen during the Christmas period with daily matinees and early evening performances.

A time to celebrate This year has been a time of celebration for several ballet companies and with its 67 dancers and full orchestra, the English National Ballet is celebrating its 60th birthday. The company has presented regular seasons at the London Coliseum both throughout the summer and at Christmas and is currently touring Romeo and Juliet which has been revived by Patricia Ruanne and can be seen for the first time at Milton Keynes Theatre this month and at the London Coliseum in January. In addition to this, in their regular repertoire is a revival of Michael Corder’s Cinderella, in which the step sisters are shown as young and attractive rather than the grotesque characters which we are more accustomed to. Here too, in a move away from tradition, the Fairy Godmother appears in Cinderella’s kitchen as a dream rather than as the silver haired apparition that we are more used to.

New production Birmingham Royal Ballet is officially 20 years old this year and to celebrate director David Bintley has choreographed an entirely new production of Cinderella which can be seen at the Birmingham Hippodrome from 24 November until 12 December before it begins a tour of The Lowry, Salford and Theatre Royal, Plymouth in January. In this new production John Macfarlane, designer of The Nutcracker and the Company’s recent Le Baiser de la fée is conjuring up a magical world to bring this much loved fairytale to life providing the perfect finale for their 20th year. And finally for an entirely different take on Cinderella, Sadler’s Wells’ resident company, New Adventures, is returning for its annual Christmas season with Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella from 30 November to 23 January. Set in London during the Second World War, the ballet was first seen in 1997 and the new production has been created to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Blitz.

An old favourite We come at last to that old favourite The Nutcracker which will be premiered by the English National Ballet at the London Coliseum in December. English National Ballet broke the mould of this Victorian classic some years ago with an updated production in modern dress, with a Michael Jackson doll under the Christmas tree. Nothing dates so quickly as something in modern dress, and this year the company is presenting an entirely new production by Wayne Eagling which is set in an era of Edwardian elegance and will without a doubt help to capture the festive magic. Moving north and Scottish Ballet is celebrating its 40th anniversary with artistic director Ashley Page’s production of Cinderella making a welcome return to the stage. This reworking of a much loved fairy tale features designs by Antony McDonald which are described as a decadent Vivienne Westwood meets Andy Warhol in 18th century France and can be seen at Glasgow Theatre Royal from 14-31 December before it tours Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness and Belfast in the New Year. Another ballet company celebrating this year is Northern Ballet with its 40th birthday celebrations taking place at their lavish new purpose built premises in Leeds. This season they will be performing artistic director David Nixon’s traditional production of The Nutcracker at the Grand Theatre, Leeds, in early December after touring Norwich, Sheffield and Manchester during November.

The Big Ballet is back Having seen huge success during previous tours, Russia’s alternative ballet company, The Big Ballet, is set to return in 2011.

T

he Big Ballet is , with each of the 16 female dancers weighing at least 15 stone, and while some people may argue that ballet dancers should be more of a traditional shape and size, anyone that has had the privilege of seeing these ladies dance will agree that their performance is a refreshing break from the norm.

Grace and dignity The Big Ballet was established fourteen years ago by top Russian choreographer, Panfilov, who as a young man had secured his position as one of the most influential choreographers in ballet. Never one to shy-away from controversy, Panfilov set out to prove two things to the world; firstly, that people of larger build are able to move with similar grace, dignity and flare as traditional dancers, and secondly, that he would be able to create a professional ballet troupe out of dancers with no previous experience. Hailing from Perm, a beautiful city with two million inhabitants in Russia’s Ural Mountain range, also home to two of ballet’s preeminent geniuses, Tchaikovsky and Serge Diaghlev, The Big Ballet was formed by Panfilov to challenge social standards in a world where slenderness and beauty seems obsessive. In testament to Panfilov’s achievement, The Big Ballet continues to be a massive success long after his renowned murder in 2002.

Rigorous training Contrary to what some critics may think, all of the dancers undergo rigorous training sessions and a demanding tour schedule which makes us ask the question how they maintain their weight. The Big Ballet’s Prima Ballerina, Ekatarina Yurkova, comments:

10  DanceReview | November2010

“We eat normal amounts of food, and the same kind of food as everybody else – our size is in our genes. “Since we were children we were all large (Big Ballet) and were often taunted, but we have gained enormous confidence since we became a troupe. Being big is not a problem and should not be seen as such - it is the perception about the abilities of larger people that need to change. “We have been given a great opportunity and, under one of the world’s leading choreographers, we have gained the ability and confidence to take to the stage and show that we are as good at professional dance as thin people.”

Huge acclaim During their UK tour in 2008, The Big Ballet was received on stage with enormous enthusiasm, performing a parody of popular classical ballets followed by performances to more contemporary music such as Robbie Williams, Tom Jones’s Sex Bomb and (continuing the Russian theme) Go West by the Pet Shop Boys. Dion Clements, publicist for The Big Ballet UK tour, says: “Whether you admire the fuller figure or not, there is absolutely no denying the raw power emanating from the stage when 16 large ladies perform choreographed routines in sync to thunderous music – I’ve witnessed audiences go wild for this troupe”. The 2011 tour is due to kick-off on 28 February 2011. It will run until 18 April and will take in around 40 venues. Alexej Ignatow, a producer for Amande Concerts, comments: “We are delighted to bring back this superb Russian show to UK audiences. When such attention is being paid to issues of size and weight, we felt that being larger is not necessarily a restriction and we were right. The Big Ballet is enjoyed by people of all sizes.”

dance like a

champi n With young people of all ages trying to emulate street dance groups like Diversity, the launch of the High Schools Street Dancing Championships in February by the UDO (United Dance Organisation) caused a huge surge of interest.

L

aunched in conjunction with Sport England, EMDP and Beat Bullying, the first ever National High School Street Dance Championships sponsored by HABBO follows on from the extremely successful 2008/09 Welsh inter high school championships. Launched in February, the competition promises to involve pupils across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales with 22 regional qualifying heats around the UK and a prestigious final to be held on 21 November 2010 at the Victoria Hall, Stokeon-Trent.

A brief history For those of you who are new to the United Dance Organisation (UDO Ltd), it was formed in 2002 with an aim to create and stage professional street dance competitions across the UK. The UDO brand of street dance competitions has seen the company now move into Europe, Russia, India and the USA and this year the UDO will have competitions in five African Nations. Currently they have over 10,000 dance members and hold twelve regional qualifying heats across the UK each year climaxing in the UDO World Street Dance Championships in August at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool which last year saw 25 countries compete, including the USA and Africa.

The competition It’s very easy to get involved in the National High School Street Dance Championships and although some of the regional heats have already taken place, there are still plenty available to choose from so if you fancy taking part then recruit your dancers and get started. Each competitor must be a member of the UDO to compete and registration can take place on the website. Each team then needs to complete a registration form which can be submitted online or printed off and sent along with payment if required. The UDO has been working hard with local

authorities to secure funding which has enabled dancers in certain areas to compete free of charge so check out the website to see if you live in one of those areas. All team registration forms must be submitted 10 days before the event and a full list of dates for the regional heats is available on the website. In addition each team will need a dedicated member of staff to supervise them on the day.

Rules & regulations The rules for the competition are fairly simple and the good news is that if you have a lot of talent in your school you are allowed to enter more than one team with a minimum of six and a maximum of 20 dancers. All dancers in the team must be from the same school and your team must have a name, but be creative and don’t just use the name of your school. There are two different categories which you can enter (Years 7-9 and Years 10-13) and the three top teams from each category will qualify for the National Final.

Your routine This is your chance to be creative and although routines can be no longer than two minutes, other than that you can pretty much do whatever you like. The music which you use

champion can be a mixture of more than one track and if you’re feeling acrobatic then why not include some moves (although do make sure they are safe as you could be penalised if they’re not). In addition you can use props and costumes although you will be judged purely on your dance, performance and choreography so don’t worry too much about spending a fortune to look the part. The UDO actively encourages pupils and students to choreograph their own routines to demonstrate their own abilities and talent and to work as a team although they can offer assistance in finding qualified teachers in their area if you would like the extra help.

It takes two As part of the regional heats there will also be a duos competition with the same two age categories, where duos will be asked to compete with at least eight other duos on the floor at the same time. The DJ will play approximately 60-90 seconds of the track each time and dancers must continue to dance for the duration of the track. In category 1 (Years 7-9) the music will be Eenie Meenie by Sean Kingston & Justin Bieber and in category 2 (Years 10-13) Bad Romance by Lady Gaga. Medals and trophies will be awarded to the top three duos in each age category although this is just for fun so winners of the duos will not go through to the National Finals.

Creating a

espite being hailed as the latest entertainment phenomenon, street dance has struggled to gain recognition as a legitimate art form in the UK. But that is all set to change with the launch of the first ever authentic, Government-accredited street dance teacher training qualification. Devised by Andy Instone, the UK’s leading expert in street dance education, culture, performance and choreography and the founder of renowned street dance company Urban Strides, the qualification will radically improve standards in street dance for the next generation and looks set to create a landmark in the dance’s history.

16  DanceReview | November2010

All about Andy At the same time as being captain of the football team at school, Andy discovered a passion for street dance at a very early age and is now considered to be one of the hottest choreographers on the UK scene. At 15 he set out to prove that all-boy dancing was a very powerful image and by involving 20 boys from the local football team he started a ‘boys club’ that performed with his school in national dance competitions, eradicating previous misconceptions about ‘boys that dance’. He established his own dance company at 18, Urban Strides limited, which specialises in performances, workshops, dance academies and university classes as well as community work throughout the UK. He choreographed his first pop video at 22 and his sheer determination earned him a scholarship at the prestigious Millennium Dance 2000 where he added to his hip hop skills with classical training.

Now a multi award winner and a judge for the UK Hip Hop Championship, UK Street Dance Championship and the UK Vauxhall Tribes Top Urban Talent Tour, Andy is a master of his art. He has taught over 311,000 dancers from his four internationally selling DVDs and 51 live arena performances. His choreographic work has appeared on 36 TV channels in 128 countries and been viewed by a global audience of 1.73 billion people. He has worked alongside Dizzee Rascal and Alexandra Burke and Sean Paul and has even had the privilege of choreographing for Her Majesty The Queen, twice. (He also taught Richard Branson the Running man!) He has been on a 13-year journey in street dance and hip hop culture and has learnt his foundations from the most influential pioneers in hip hop and street dance including Poppin’ Pete, Suga Pop, Mr Wiggles, Ken Swift, Greg Campellock Junior, Tony Gogo, Buddha Stretch, Brooklyn Terry and Caleaf.

people watch three hours of MTV and think they’re ready to go out and teach. “But every dance that can be considered a style has foundation steps. In the same way that Ballet has a plié and a tendu, Locking has a Scooby Doo and a skeeter rabbit and B-boying (breakdance) has top rock, corkscrews, footwork and windmills.” Andy believes that as well as giving credence to the dance style, this qualification will also give instructors the chance to earn a professional salary. He says: “Based on our pilot teacher training, these newly qualified instructors should be able to earn between £300 and £800 a week. They will also be armed with

In short, if it was there to be done, Andy has done it.

Get qualified Andy’s larger than life personality is just one of the reasons why his story is such a success, but at the same time his strong sense of discipline and impeccable work ethic are what motivates him as well as his aim to create the most exciting, inspirational and authentic street dance experience possible, delivered with passion, positivity and fun. It is no great surprise then that when he decided that a qualification was needed to train street dance instructors across the UK, it was no sooner said than done. The qualification will be recognised in schools and colleges across the country and the course will be taught by worldleading street dancers, who aim to train 25 new instructors with skills that will automatically put them in the top 5% of street dance teachers in the UK. Andy says: “We anticipate that this qualification will revolutionise the street dance movement in the UK. It will give the dance legitimacy in arts and educational circles and, more importantly, it will mean that many more people will be able to have a career in something they love and be recognised as a professional.” He explains: “Unfortunately the cultural heritage of street dance has become misrepresented and misinterpreted by those trying to cash in on its current popularity. Too many

the legal and practical know-how they need to set up a professional dance practice, giving students (and parents) peace of mind knowing they are learning from a qualified instructor with appropriate insurance, who has undergone a child protection course, is CRB checked, and who can communicate successfully with students of all ages and abilities.”

What’s it all about The course is very comprehensive and will equip future instructors with the skills to break down and teach each street dance style including locking, popping, breakin’ (break dance), hip hop and house while at the same time understand the evolution of street dance and how to help the generation of tomorrow revolutionise it. Creating new, fresh choreography in minutes, not hours is also on the syllabus, but it’s not just the creative side which is covered because there is also a section on understanding the legal implications of teaching children, gaining the appropriate business skills as well as negotiating and collaborating with educational establishments like schools and councils. The intensive training course takes place at Buckinghamshire New University Campus and is open to over 18s who are experienced street dancers or professional teachers of other dance styles with street dance experience. Those who want to find out more can attend a free, open day, simply by registering their details at: www.learntoteachstreetdance.com or by calling 08448 488 825.

And finally As street dance continues to grow in popularity, an accredited teacher training qualification is something of a necessity and will mean that many more people of all ages will benefit from learning from a professional. But it doesn’t end with the qualification because if there is something which we

18  DanceReview | November2010

can learn from Andy it is that learning the steps is only half the story. To be a true professional in street dance you need to be hard working and have dedication and drive because you have a much greater chance of success if you have the right attitude. Andy says: “If you are in any way half-hearted about becoming an excellent street dance instructor, this is not the course for you. We are only interested in working with students who are absolutely 100% dedicated to becoming teachers of the highest calibre. The students who will benefit most from the course are not necessarily the ones who start off with the ‘best’ dancing or teaching ability – but the ones with the right attitude.” Creating a landmark in dance history is not an easy task, but when you read about his talents and achievements over the years, it is no great surpirse that it is something which Andy Instone has achieved. I personally look forward to seing more classes running throughout the UK by professional teachers who have been trained by Andy – not only is this good for the industry now but also for the generations of young dancers who will continue to keep this dance movement very much alive.

The buyer’s guide to

ballet shoes T

here are so many different types of ballet shoes on the market that choosing a new pair can be bewildering – especially if you are new to ballet. There are also many common misconceptions about buying a pair of ballet shoes which can make your shopping trip a bit of a chore, so before you head off to the shops it pays to do your homework to make sure that you get a pair of shoes which are right for you.

So let’s start with the basics – your shoes are the tools of your trade – you wouldn’t see a dentist trying to remove a tooth with a hacksaw and in the same way you need to have the right shoes for your feet in order to perform to the best of your ability. Firstly when you’re buying ballet shoes it is best to buy them brand new. This may sound very obvious but if you haven’t got a lot of cash to spare then you could be

20  DanceReview | November2010

tempted to get a second hand pair. There are two schools of thought on this, particularly where children are concerned as they grow out of shoes so quickly, but because shoes are designed to mould to a dancer’s feet buying a second hand pair is not ideal as they will have moulded to the dancers feet and therefore won’t be right for you.

Correct fitting This brings me onto the subject of fitting. People will give different advice when it comes to buying soft ballet shoes which include buying them a size too big or a size too small. Basically ballet shoes should fit like a glove but there should still be sufficient space in the shoe for moving the toes. To give you a rough guide you need to make sure that you are wearing the tights that you dance in when you go to try the shoes on and if possible go and get them fitted at the time of day when you would normally be dancing – this way your feet are as similar as possible to your ‘dancing feet’. When you stand flat in the shoes you need to make sure that your toes do not curl – if they do then you need a larger size. In the same way if there is too much room at the front of

When you have a comfortable fit then the next decision to make is material. There are three different types to choose from; canvas leather and satin and here it is very much down to personal choice. Generally speaking, canvas offers very good value for money and therefore is a good starter shoe, while satin is often considered as the best choice for female dancers because of its aesthetic appeal. Leather on the other hand is more durable and moulds to the shape of the foot over time. It is also worth considering the type of floor which you will be dancing on as leather shoes work well on wooden floors but canvas shoes are better suited to floors made of vinyl.

The key is in getting a good fit so be prepared to spend up to an hour in the shop getting your shoes properly fitted.

There is no right or wrong material, although the school which you attend may have a preference. Ultimately your choice should be determined by how durable your shoes need to be and how often you will need to replace them.

Sole type The last decision which you need to make is the type of sole. There are two types to choose from; a full sole and a split sole. A full sole is exactly what it says and is made from one piece of material (generally suede) which runs along the full length of the shoe. The split sole comes in two pieces and covers the ball and the heel of the shoe. Again this is largely down to personal choice however for dancers who are new to ballet and

the shoe then it will be difficult to point and if you have to curl your toes to keep the shoe on then you need a smaller size.

for children, a full sole is generally recommended. This is due to the fact that wearing ballet shoes which are much lighter than normal shoes can take a bit of getting used to and a full sole provides more rigidity to the shoe.

And finally Whether you are new to ballet or a seasoned dancer, buying a pair of shoes can be a bit of a minefield – but it needn’t be a chore. For a start your dance teacher will be able to give you advice on the best types of shoes to look out for and they will generally be able to point you towards a reputable establishment to buy them from. The key is in getting a good fit so be prepared to spend up to an hour in the shop getting your shoes properly fitted. There are also numerous online stores which offer all of the major brands – again don’t be afraid to ask for advice as most of the online stores will be happy for you to phone or email them if you are unsure about exactly which shoes you need. Ultimately you need to remember that your shoes need to meet the rigorous demands of both practice and performance but at the same time they need to be comfortable, so take your time when buying them and make sure that they are the perfect fit for you.

Centre Stage How old were you when you first started dancing?

weren’t a dancer what would you be? It would have to be a costume designer because I love clothes.

I first started dancing when I was just three because my best friend Rachel had started ballet classes and I didn’t want to feel left out – you know how it is when you are three years old! I remember it quite clearly – even down to the fact that I wore black plimsolls and a green tartan dress.

What do you do in your free time?

Who is your inspiration? I find that I can be inspired by a variety of things which could be an actor’s performance in a film, a friend, a character in a play, or even someone I’ve seen in the street. But it isn’t always a person that inspires me because it can also be a piece of music, a line in a song or an image - something than evokes an emotion.

What is the high point of your career? That has got to be being part of balletLORENT’s Blood, Sweat & Tears. I have been involved from its inception and it is a massive emotional commitment on my part, but the most rewarding experience in my dance career. Working with Liv Lorent is always a real honour and it is very inspiring to be around such a great group of people.

Which performance would you most like to appear in? I’d love to be in a show where I can wear some outrageous costumes and get away with it.

What is the most memorable performance which you have seen? I went to see Rambert when I was about 12 and although I don’t actually remember very much about the show, I do remember that it made me think: “I want to do that!” If you

I seem to spend quite a bit of my time envisaging ways to improve my home and when I’m not doing that I do a bit of sewing because I love making clothes or things for the house. I also do all the usual stuff like sleep, eat and catch up with friends….. and I love shopping – but then who doesn’t?!

Blood, Sweat & Tears balletLORENT is one of the UK’s most exciting contemporary dance companies and is led by the awardwinning artistic director, Liv Lorent. Their latest production, Blood, Sweat & Tears is choreographed and directed by Lorent and looks at the huge impact the arrival of a baby has on a relationship. Made up in three parts with seven dancers, it follows a young couple and the extraordinary transformations they undergo as they learn to cope with becoming a family. Blood, Sweat and Tears is a powerful piece about the ups and downs of unconditional love. It premiered at Northern Stage in January 2010 and the opening duet was performed to critical acclaim at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival. During the autumn tour, Philippa White performed alongside Jon Beney, Baptiste Bourgougnon, Gwen Berwick, Gary Clarke, Gavin Coward and Meritxell Pan Cabo in Newcastle, Leeds, Dundee, Great Malvern, London and Barnsley. The next performance takes place at The Lowry in Salford on 15 November.
