Veterinarian Produces Natural Raw Food for Dogs By Deborah Schapiro
T
en years ago, local veterinarian Dr. Gerald Buchoff began making raw food for his feline and canine clients. Buchoff was tired of seeing dogs and cats who were suffering from allergies and autoimmune diseases, believing that these problems were due largely to their diet. The results were so impressive that in 2016 he created Dr. B’s Longevity Raw Pet Food, a line of raw food for dogs at all stages of life (a raw cat food line is in development). The ingredient list for Dr. B’s Longevity Raw Pet Food includes grass-fed beef, free-range chicken, and almost a dozen different fruits and vegetables. One thing that does not appear is kibble, which Buchoff calls “junk food for pets.” The product line is available online; at independent pet retailers across New Jersey, New York City and Eastern Pennsylvania; and at Buchoff’s veterinary practice, Holistic Pet Care.
