way to start the New Year. We secured funding for 30 students for our Cache level 5 qualifications Leadership and Management and we are the first training company to secure funding from the Lincolnshire Birth to Five Workforce. Both courses have now commenced and we have been informed by Cache that we are able to hold a graduation ceremony at the end of the course so we are all looking forward to planning this celebration of success event. As you will see from the achievements of our students we have had a brilliant start to the year with 36 students achieving their qualification from Cache. Well done to all of you and we wish you well in your future career.

Training Needs Analysis A training/learning needs analysis (TNA) is a review of learning and development needs for staff, volunteers or trustees within your setting .It examines the skills, knowledge and cultural behaviours that your people need, and advises on how to develop them effectively. Organisational TNA should ideally be undertaken at 3 different levels within your setting: • Organisational level • Room/departmental level • Individual level It is important to examine the setting as an organisation; however this needs to be balanced with the needs of teams dealing with specific age groups, and individuals. At Riverside we will help you examine you existing strategies and plan to identify the skills you need to ensure the smooth running of your setting. We will supply accurate and current information enabling you not only to ensure that your setting is compliant OFSTED regulations, but also to plan for the progression of your staff and organisation. Help us respect our planet by recycling! Our Sustainability Officer Jan Dent, has been busy over the past few weeks setting up recycling bins for each room. Please help us to become more aware of our responsibilities to the planet by using the bins provided to recycle paper and tins. We have also placed a box in reception

to recycle your old CDs—The Teenage Cancer Trust will receive 40p for every old CD we can send and we are aiming at raising money £1000 for this charity which Please also pay attention to the notices by the light switches and photocopier, asking you to switch off when not in use.

Help us respect our planet by recycling! Parents in England are calling for more males to work in early years settings. According to research conducted by the Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC), 55 per cent of parents say they want a male childcare worker for their nursery-aged children, with two thirds of lone parent mothers saying they would like a man involved in the care and development of their young children. Early years settings can

provide children with access to a male role model. Currently 17 per cent of children from lone parent female families have fewer than two hours a week contact time with a man. Male early years workers can perform a vital role in ensuring many of these young children have quality contact time with men. Offering someone for the boys to look up to was seen as important for 37 per cent of parents, who say that it sets boys a good example,
