SEPTEMBER MEETING GOALS:

UB

BACK IN CLASS

Let's ROCK this school year!

During the month of September, our goal is to get everyone off on the right foot so we can ROCK the year. We will go over the UB Handbook, new opportunities & policies, make sure all paperwork is complete, work on Personal Education Plans (PEP), get logged into the online accounts we use (see next page), give out Opportunities Booklets, go over timelines, determine your GRIT score, and give out school supplies!!

INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS: This year, we will be at your high school each week for individual

meetings. These meetings are very important, especially for Juniors & Seniors. During these meetings we can give you individual help with things like college & scholarship applications, Financial Aid, SAT/ACT prep, study skills, or just any help you need to be successful with school and/or college prep. Students will be required to sign up for at least 1 individual meeting each month. Sign ups will be held at the first Weekly Meeting. Zoom meetings will be available on a case-by-case basis.

WHAT'S NEW THIS YEAR?

NEW OPPORTUNITIES: UB Junior Leadership Program: This year our Juniors will be given the opportunity to participate in a Leadership Program that will give valuable experience to help with scholarships, college/job applications, and personal growth! Each Junior will be given more information during the weekly meetings this month. Senior Rewards: Senior year is so important and we need our Seniors to stay engaged and on top of things. Starting this year, each Senior will have to participate in certain criteria in order to earn a very special reward. More information to come! SCORE (Senior Career Observation & Research Experience): Starting this year, we will be incorporating Job Shadowing & Career Observation into our Summer Academy. We will also have a variety of Career Research & Career Readiness activities throughout the year and Summer Academy. UB Book Club: Love to read? Ask us about joining or leading the UB Book Club!

NEW POLICIES: There will be no scheduled weekly zoom meeting. Zoom meetings are available by request, but it will be up to the student to set that up with us! Virtual activities will only count toward your meeting attendance if you are a virtual student or attend Abingdon HS or John Battle HS. Students will be required to attend at least 1 individual meeting each month.
