I can hardly believe that 2015 has come to an end! Here at Vette Girls Magazine we are steadily keeping the corvette lifestyle moving into the upcoming year!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Holidays’.

As we move forward into the winter season, not only is this the time to slow down and reflect over the past year but this is also the time to add a few enhancements to your ride, whether it be modifying your car or perhaps a new paint job! Most of you know, my ride whom I like to call “Baby Girl” has been down but I am steadily working on giving her a comeback with a new look and attitude! It’s been rough not being able to just get in my car and ride but she will be back and ready for 2016!

But is also a time to reflect on the great times you had with your car clubs or at the various car shows held across the U.S. I for one rather enjoyed the time that I spent with other Vette enthusiasts like me! Where I attended some of the great car shows and events throughout the year! I invite you to please visit the Vette Girl’s (VG’s) website and check out all of the great photos of the places we were able to see this past year. We have some new features to bring out; such as live stream feed for all the events we attend.

I hope you were able to participate in some of the fun opportunities to show off your Corvette this past year either by joining and participating with a club or perhaps showing your sweet ride in a car show! But I hope in the New Year you take advantage in participating in the various clubs and special events where you can network with other car enthusiasts! You bought the Corvette for the fun and adventure the car would bring you and I hope you take advantage of all the opportunities in the upcoming year to do so. If nothing else, just enjoy the freedom of getting behind the wheel and driving!

Callaway Unveils GT3-Spec Corvette

Callaway is widely recognized for its tuning prowess, particularly when it comes to the Chevrolet Corvette, but the company has a European offshoot that also builds complete turnkey race cars. We’re talking about Callaway Competition based in Leingarten, Germany, Callaway’s official European distributor and maker of this awesome Corvette C7 GT3-R race car .

Callaway Competition has been building race cars since 1985 and became the official racing arm of Callaway in the early ‘90s.

This latest car is designed specifically for GT3 competition and replaces the C6-based Callaway Corvette Z06.R GT3.

The Corvette C7 GT3-R has been two years in the making and looks even more impressive than Corvette Racing’s own C7.R endurance racer.

Responsible for the design was Canadian Paul Deutschman as well as Callaway Competition’s own Giovanni Ciccone and Ernst Wöhr. They worked hard to develop a future-proof design that should remain competitive for years to come.

KELLEY BLUE BOOK NAMES 2016 CORVETTE A BEST BUY

November 13, 2015 Kelley Blue has announced their 2016 Best Buy Award Winners, and taking the top spot in the Performance Car category for the 2nd year in a row is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette. Contenders for the recognition this year included the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro V6, 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang, 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata and 2016 Scion FR-S. “It was last year’s winner, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, that carried the day on the strength of overall performance that compares favorably with sports cars costing tens of thousands of dollars more,” KBB.com editors wrote. “But beyond stellar performance, the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray offers the kind of comfort and drivability that takes it from a weekend- or special occasion-only fun car to a truly engaging vehicle perfectly suited as a daily driver.”

GM to Invest $44 Million and Create 36 New Jobs at the Corvette Assembly Plant They grow again!

The latest news coming from General Motors is that Corvette Z06 sales are going so well (accounting for nearly a third of all Corvette sales) that the company will be expanding the Performance Build Center located inside the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.

According to a press release issued today, the PBC expansion will cost $44 million and will create 36 new jobs.

This investment comes on top of the already committed $439 million for a new paint shop and “facility upgrades” that was announced in May 2015: “Coupled with the investment, for $439 million for a new paint shop and facility upgrades announced in May, GM has committed $483 million to Bowling Green this year alone,” said plant manager Kai Spande. “These significant investments indicate the company’s confidence in Bowling Green, the Performance Build Center and our skilled workforce.”

Does “E-Ray” Trademark Filing Point To An Electric Corvette?

On December 16th, General Motors filed for trademarks on the terms “E-RAY” and “CORVETTE E-RAY” in the Automobiles category with the US Patent andTrademark Office, leading to speculation about whether the General had concrete plans to produce either an all-electric or hybrid Corvette. You may recall that back in 2014, the trademarking of the name “Zora” led to a similar flurry of supposition about a mid-engined, range-topping “super-Corvette,” but then again, you probably didn’t hear about GM putting in requests to register “Spark Activ,” “Badlands,” “Enclave Tuscan,” or “Regal TourX” either.

To some extent, trademark filings are a bit of corporate CYA – General Motors has an intellectual property division of their legal department, and in terms of resources it’s not a particularly taxing process to just go out and register anything that you might possibly want to use later. Just look up why Ford’s supercar is just the GT and not the GT40 if you want a real world example of why automakers should trademark everything in sight. With that in mind, the E-RAY filing could very well be the result of a note in the margins of some internal meeting, rather than a hint of things to come.
