UV-C Technology in safety UV radiation The disinfectant properties of UV light have been known about and used for decades to sterilize air, water, surfaces and objects.

UV emissions are invisible to the human eye and are divided into three categories: UV-A, UV-B and UV-C (“UVGI”: Germicidal UV). The UV-C category identifies emissions included in the range between 100 and 280 nm. Maximum germicidal action is obtained at 265 nm.

VGuard4 emits UV radiation between 260 and 270nm. This means it is extremely efficient at eliminating germs and viruses by breaking down pathogen DNA and RNA, rendering it inactive and effectively stopping replication.

Safety first Direct and prolonged exposure to UV-C rays is dangerous. VGuard® UV-C disinfection devices are equipped with specific safety mechanisms and installation is carried out by qualified professionals.

VGuard4® and all the other products in the VGuard line are designed to work automatically and without putting humans at risk whilst ensuring a correct disinfection of surfaces and environments thanks to safeguarding devices such as acoustic alarm before initiating a treatment cycle, a presence sensor which ensures automatic detection of personnel in the treatment area and immediate interruption of the disinfection process, plus other special functions for for specific applications, which will ensure the elimination of any potential risk.

Virucidal activity against the human beta-coronavirus OC43 which was considered as belonging to the same viral family and genus as the coronavirus Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2). The results show an average of 100% virucidal activity after 60 minutes of irradiation. An average virucidal activity of 99.9999% was shown following irradiation for 30 minutes. An average virucidal activity of 99.9996% was shown after 3 minutes of irradiation. An average virucidal activity of 99.9% was shown following irradiation for 1 minute.

The infected cells, highlighted in brown following the immunocytochemical process, were viewed using an inverted optical microscope (Leica DM IL) with a magnification of 200x. Pictures above were taken at 1: 3 dilution of the viral titration.
