Burlington’s pioneering farm-to-table restaurateurs The Farmhouse Group plans to replicate its flagship downtown Farmhouse Tap & Grill with a second location at Finney Crossing in Williston. The restaurant will be co-located with a new Healthy Living Market in a 30,000-square-foot building fronting Williston Road. The building broke ground in October across from Maple Tree Place. The market and restaurant are projected for fall 2020 openings. Along with a Hilton hotel set to open this winter and a Union Bank branch that opened earlier this year, they make up a burgeoning commercial hub of the development. Finney is home to about 800 people living in condominiums and apartments built within the past eight years. Town-approved plans show room for seven more commercial buildings. “There is going to be a lot to be excited about at Finney Crossing over the next year or two, and we’re excited to be a part of it,” Farmhouse Group owner Jed Davis said in an interview Tuesday. The Farmhouse Group operates four distinct restaurants in the Burlington area, including the Guild Tavern, El Cortijo Taqueria and Pascolo Ristorante. The group also has an ownership stake in Bliss Bee, a takeout-style restaurant that opened earlier this year at Maple Tree Place in Williston. Finney Crossing developer Chris Snyder said a second restaurant has committed to locate in one of the future commercial buildings, but he declined to identify the brand. The Farmhouse Tap & Grill offers burgers, beer and unique entrees focusing on Vermont-produced ingredients. “There is a high demand for authenticity and a locally owned restaurant committed to the community, committed to high quality and relentless support of Vermont’s local food economy,” said Davis. Talks between The Farmhouse Group and Finney Crossing owners Snyder and Scott Rieley have been ongoing since last fall, Davis said. With

The nine hole Catamount Country Club golf course on Mountain View Road will be transformed into a residential neighborhood under plans submitted this month to the Williston Planning and Zoning Department. The project is up for preliminary review at the Development Review Board’s Dec. 10 meeting. About 130 homes spread over a series of connecting roads are planned, creating a new link between Mountain View Road and Williston Road, via Raven Circle. The project is in the vicinity of the Northridge neighborhood, a development that is permitted for 40 homes, but not yet built. It will encompass about 30 acres that are currently home to holes three through eight of the Catamount Country Club.

Landowner Alex Kourabanus said the golf course will convert to a three-hole course, with holes one, two and nine — those closest to the clubhouse — remaining. Memberships will still be offered for use of the remaining holes and driving range, and the clubhouse banquet hall and surrounding property will still be offered for weddings and events, he said. “This is the best possible use for the land, and we’re excited to move forward with it,” said Kourabanus, who bought the golf course in 2002, two years after it was built by its original owner. The neighborhood will be a mix of single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes and fourplexes — both for sale and for rent — according to plans submitted Nov. 1. A community center, swimming pool, playground and sports field are also planned. About 50 of the units will be perpetually
