VERMONT COVERED BRIDGES

Vermont is home to more than 100 covered bridges, boasting more covered bridges per square mile than any other state Dating back to 1820, Vermont's covered bridges are the settings for ghost stories, weddings, peaceful drives, some of our most beautiful photography and memories that will last a lifetime.

This suggested itinerary showcases the iconic covered bridges, and the waterfalls surrounding them, throughout Vermont

DAY 1

Spend the day in Woodstock, Quechee and Taftsville Enjoy the quintessential New England town of Woodstock. This quaint town is very walkable, with great shops and a lovely covered bridge on The Green. Visit Billings Farm & Museum.

Depart for Quechee, passing over the Quechee Covered Bridge Park on the Simon Pearce side of the bridge for a photo op of the bridge and falls

Enjoy lunch at Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm, two minutes from the Quechee Covered Bridge. Depart Quechee for Taftsville. Stop for a photo op at the Taftsville Covered Bridge.

Spend the night in White River Junction at the Holiday Inn Express

DAY 2

Depart White River Junction for Northfield and spend the day in Northfield, Waitsfield, Warren, Granville and Stockbridge Northfield features multiple covered bridges, three of which are within a quarter mile on the same road These three are a short drive but are walkable for those who choose.

Depart Northfield for Waitsfield, stopping at the Waitsfield Covered Bridge Continue on to the small shops in town, then enjoy lunch at Lareau Farm Inn Make the short drive to Warren, passing over the Warren Covered Bridge Then, travel to Granville and visit Moss Glen Falls, featuring picturesque and beautiful small and large falls.

Continue to Stockbridge, visiting Stone Revival Gallery & Gift Shop. Enjoy a marble carving demonstration Take in the picturesque views of the surrounding mountains from the outdoor Sculpture Garden & Studio and shop the gift shop for goods made by local artisans

Spend the night in White River Junction, returning to the hotel from the previous night.

DAY 3

Depart White River Junction and continue on to Cavendish via Route 131 for a special lunch at the Castle Hill Resort and Spa

Leave Cavendish via Route 103 to the Vermont Country Store in Rockingham. Take a journey into the general store of yesteryear with The Vermont Country Store As the purveyors of practical and hardto-find products, you'll find a host of quality merchandise from around the block and around the world

Don’t miss the Vermont Country Store Kissing Bridge, whose name comes from an old tradition from the horse-and-buggy days. Continue south to spend the night in Springfield or at the Best Western Springfield

After enjoying the scenic vistas, iconic bridges and creating memories, depart Vermont for home. Thank you for visiting Vermont! LOCATIONS

The

The Current, a center for contemporary art in Stowe, Vermont, was established in 1981 with the mission to enhance the human experience through the visual arts. They pursue their mission by offering programming that asserts the value of art and engages both a local and international audience as visitors, volunteers, creators, students, and patrons. The Current is the primary fine arts resource for families in Lamoille County and the surrounding region. Operating with the conviction that meaningful, formative arts experiences should be available and accessible to all people regardless of age, class, race, ability, and geography. Their programming includes art classes and an interpretive learning program that offers multiple modes of engagement to connect audiences with the work presented: workshops, online resources, printed matter, facilitated conversations, a hands-on room, and more.

Group Tour Highlights: The Current is pleased to begin offering a range of carefully curated art activities for audiences of all ages and skill levels. Their Immersive Art Experiences are ideal for visitors and community members alike who are curious about a specific medium or are looking for a way to gain familiarity with the art center’s offerings within the vibrant village of Stowe. These private experiences are customized for individuals and small groups of families, colleagues, or friends.

Red Kite Candy

338 Industrial Dr., Bradford

Red Kite Candy is a small, family business founded in 2009 by life-long candy hobbyist Elaine McCabe. Her and her husband, Mike, make their candy with the best ingredients and techniques possible, always prioritizing freshness and taste over cutting corners. They specialize in famously smooth, delicious caramels as well as fluffernutter candy bars, toffee, Nougat de Montélimar, and turtles.

Their aim is to make it easy for you to make everyone’s day with thoughtful treats. Orders come in beautiful, ready-to-gift packaging and you have the option to write your own note to your recipient.

They began on their kitchen stove, selling at local farmers markets. Since then, they’ve converted their basement into a commercial kitchen, moved from there into their production facility in Bradford, Vermont, and opened up a quaint storefront in Hanover, NH where they sell their homemade ice cream. Visit their Vermont production facility for a special experience.

Watch master glassblowers and potters at work before you shop for the finished product in their retail store. An extensive assortment of second-quality glass and pottery is available alongside first-quality merchandise. While at Simon Pearce, visit their neighbors in Artisans Park.

Since the beginning, Simon’s life has centered around functional, sophisticated design. Growing up in Ireland with a family of artisans, attention to detail and aesthetics were part of his everyday experience. At age 16, Simon began his craft as an apprentice at his father’s pottery studio. From there, he went on to work with notable glassmakers all over Europe before opening his namesake studio. Inspired by centuries-old Georgian glassmaking techniques and using the finest natural materials, Simon set out to create designs that bring pleasure and inspiration with every use, every day.

From their hand-thrown pottery to their lead-free crystal glassware made with custom molds and purpose-built furnaces, each handcrafted piece carries a story that lends meaning, authenticity, and grace to every use.

They specialize in their famously smooth, delicious caramels as well as fluffernutter candy bars, toffee, Nougat de Montélimar, and turtles.
