I have read the pros and cons as printed, but I found some a bit exaggerated. The airport is needed as a fixed wing ambulance, and also by farmers as stated in on the pros.

I vote to keep the airport.

However, let me make it clear, this is not only a decision between the town and the airport committee. Twenty thousand people or more live in the airport service area. Of these, 4,500 live in the Town of Vermilion. At this time, the Town of Vermilion has all the responsibilities; that is maintenance, snow removal, and financial.

Everyone has to understand that this issue requires the commitment from many other sources to continue.

Some examples would include the County of Vermilion River, Minburn County, Two Hills County, Village of Mannville, Derwent, Clandonald, Dewberry, and now also Elk Point.

All the people above have access to the Vermilion Airport via air ambulance. Highway 16 and 41 accident victims that have been flown out.

Someone has to pay. The Town of Vermilion cannot do it alone. We have to do it right this time, even if it takes a year. If not done right, it will fester and fester.

Let me say this, if no one else comes to the table then it should close; it will be obvious they don’t care – that is until the day they need it.
