SCHOOL NEWS

On Thursday, June 30th, the graduating class of 2016 from J.R. Robson celebrated their successes with a convocation ceremony at J.R. Robson school. At the ceremony words of encouragement and congratulations were provided from Mr. Pulyk, Vermilion Deputy Mayor, Mr. Huedepohl, BTPS

board trustee, and Mr. Wowk, parent advisory council president. The grad’s theme was “On Our Way” which they felt reflected this stage in their life. Mr. Bates, Principal of J.R. Robson, urged grads to think about two components related to their theme: where are they going, and how are they going to know when they get there. After discussing the fact that in the world they live in new jobs are created every day in fields that

weren’t even invented 10 years ago, he finished with a quote from Alice in Wonderland to highlight the importance of decision making in their futures: “ “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.” ( Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland ) Julia McKimmon, class Valedictorian, also had encouraging words to

her classmates stating that although this day marked the end of their high school careers, it also marked the beginning of an exciting new phase of their lives. With wise words, she explained to her class that just like the conservation of mass, success too could not originate from nowhere: hard work and dedication were needed for success in the future. Congratulations graduates of 2016!
