The Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) races returned to Dewberr y for their third stop on the CPCA SIGA Pro Tour on June 17 and ran until Sunday, June 19. The Dewberry committee is a former CPCA Committee of the Year. Todd Baptiste, driving for Schadwin Tru c k ing, was leading the board s on Friday night with a time of 1:09.32. Chance Bensmiller, driving for t wo out fits, Reita Creek Scoreboards and Rotation Agriculture Division, came in 4th and 5th place on Friday night with a time of 1:09.84 and 1:09.87. “I’m pretty happy with the way things a r e g o i n g .” s a i d C h a n c e o n Fr i d a y evening. “Placing 4th and 5th on Friday night is good, but I’m aiming to be in 1st and 2nd by the end. I have new horses that I got at the start of the year and they seem to be working really nice.” Pac k ing 23 hor ses and with seven turned out at home, Chance says that driving one outfit is pressure but driving the two helps him get set up better. “It calms a guys nerves down when you get out there for the main hook. Driving

one is enough pressure but I like driving the two because I like driving,” said Chance. Chance says that his goal right now is to get outfits together that are working well for Calgary. “I don’t want to have any sore horses that aren’t quite working well together going to Calgary. “This is a show in a town that has been my home town forever and it means a lot to me. The buckles are sponsored by my family, the Bensmillers, as a tribute to my late grandfather, Allan Bensmiller, and to be able to win would be unreal,” said Chance. “Last year I didn’t make it to Calgary and I had to sit on the side lines and watch everybody else go, but this year going into Calgar y I’ve got some good outriders, my brother David is riding with me, and the horses seem to be working well, anything can change on any given day, but right now I’m happy with the way everything is looking going into Calgary in July.” The driver (Point Wagon Only) with the fastest accumulated time over the three days including penalties will be declared the 2016 Dewberry Champion. In With A Chance Chance Bensmiller, driving for two outfits, Reita Creek Scoreboards and Rotation Agriculture Division, came in fourth and fifth place on the Friday night with a time of 1:09.84 and 1:09.87.
