Puckster and Indigo Series Writer Shared Trade Secrets Nicole Crossan Reporter
Lorna Schultz Nicolson is a writer, presenter, and speaker who just moved to Edmonton two weeks ago, after being in Calgary for the better part of 18 years. Nicholson grew up in St. Catherines, Ontario where she got her start as a writer.
She has published 30 novels and non-fiction books mostly for young adults and children. Her Puckster series are popular children’s picture books, and her Indigo series is popular among young adults. She has also written six or more non-fiction books on hockey. Praise abounds from reviewers of her Indigo series books. “Through Indigo’s Eyes is one of the
most engaging stories you will ever read. It is filled with insight, intrigue and fascination. A compelling read. This novel is destined to be an International sensation,” Peggy McColl, New York Times best-selling author said. Nicolson launched two new books in her Puckster series four days before she came to Vermilion on October 18 and will be visiting schools throughout Medi-
cine Hat from October 20-23. At the workshop in Vermilion, registrants had the opportunity to create characters and then create conflicts that would happen with those characters. As class members shared their story ideas, character outlines, and conflicts they were privileged to receive wise counsel and advice from a published writer who knows her market well.
