Project 5 Baguio Residential Project
4-Storey Residential Project
The Baguio Residential Project presents a unique opportunity as we embark on demolishing the existing residential building to construct a new, four-story dwelling. Situated in Baguio, known for its cooler climate compared to the rest of the Philippines, this project required careful consideration of the region’s distinct environmental factors.

The clients expressed a desire for a brutalist architectural style, which posed an interesting challenge in balancing the raw and striking nature of brutalism with a warm and inviting ambiance. Our aim was to create a harmonious fusion of these contrasting elements, resulting in a home that seamlessly blends robustness with a homely atmosphere.
To achieve this balance, we incorporated concrete textures throughout the facade, highlighting the rugged beauty inherent in brutalism. Warm lights were strategically placed to create a contrast in tones, softening the overall aesthetic and infusing a sense of coziness. Wooden finishes were introduced to further enhance the warmth and provide a tactile and inviting feel to the residence.
In addition to the exterior design, special attention was given to the staircase, which serves as a prominent feature within the building. To bring in more natural lighting and a touch of nature, we integrated a landscape feature that covers multiple levels of the staircase. This innovative approach not only adds visual interest but also creates a connection with the outdoors, infusing the interior with an abundance of natural light and a refreshing ambiance.
The Baguio Residential Project showcases our ability to navigate the unique challenges posed by climate and architectural style. By carefully balancing the roughness and striking facade of brutalism with warm lighting, wooden finishes, and integrating landscape features, we have created a residence that harmoniously blends the best of both worlds. This project exemplifies our commitment to delivering exceptional designs that cater to our clients’ specific desires while maintaining a sense of comfort and homeliness.

Balancing Brutalism and Homeliness
Designed to accommodate the clients’ desire for additional guest accommodations, the lowest part of the building serves as a guest room for Airbnb, complete with a separate access point to ensure privacy and convenience for its users.
Within the residence itself, careful consideration was given to the layout to ensure optimal functionality and comfort. The ground floor houses a master bedroom designed specifically for the parents, providing easy accessibility and convenience. On the second floor, a second master bedroom awaits the son and his wife, providing a private sanctuary for their retreat.
To maximize the available space, a mezzanine level was incorporated above the master bedroom on the second floor. This additional level serves as a recreational area, offering a dedicated space for leisure activities and relaxation. Whether used as a hobby area, home office, or a space for entertainment, the mezzanine level enhances the functionality of the residence, adding an extra dimension to its versatility.
