ASSA ABLOY was founded in 1994 by ASSA and it was formed by the merger of ABLOY in Finland. ASSA ABLOY has evolved since then. Our story begins in 1974 when lock maker Tor Sørnes hears about a woman attacked by an intruder in her hotel room. Tor, who was very affected by this event, decided to create a security system to prevent such an event from happening again. He voluntarily provided a separate, private password for each guest. He didn’t know that his invention would change the entire lock industry. Since then, ASSA ABLOY has been partnering in over 166 countries with more than 42,000 products worldwide. Our products have offered 7 million+ hotel rooms with safe access. We offer experienced architecture and hardware consultancy to all types of doors with comprehensive, professional and free specifications service, without sacrificing the integrity of the projects.
