Quality Management Cell

Quality Management Cell (QMC), being the central quality team of the institution under the Directorate, is involved in implementing and monitoring quality across the institution. QMC’s main objective is to uphold the quality standards in the institution. Maintaining NABH accreditation in Christian Medical College helps in working towards this goal.

New Initiatives

» Formation of new key performance indicators for medical departments

» A fellowship programme for those candidates who are interested in Hospital Quality Management has been initiated

» One-year certification (Health Sector Skill Council approved) course on hospital fire fighting management, and safety in collaboration with Fire office of CMC Vellore

Committee Management

Some of the committees run by Quality Management Cell and safety cell includes Quality steering committee, Medical audit committee, Safety steering committee, CPR audit committee, Forms Committee etc. QMC also represent other committees of the institution like Needle stick injury committee, Bio-Medical Waste Management committee, Fire Management Committee, Theatre steering committee, Radiation safety committee. In the last one year, a committee has been formed to look at patient grievances.

Mock drills conducted

Quality Management Cell conducts various emergency code drills as per the schedule covering Main Campus and Peripheral campuses.

Other activities and initiatives

» Mob violence review committee was developed, and incidents are reviewed once in a month

» Code Orange (Chemical spill / splash) protocol was updated and circulated

» Chemical disposal protocol was developed and implemented

» Code white protocol was developed in consultation with pediatric department

» Facilitation for Occupational health as and when required

» Facilitation for chemical safety audits and training

» Facilitation for radiation safety audits and training

» Contribution as faculty for administrative educational courses

» Staff participation and certification in CPQIH (basic) by CAHO

» CMC Vellore, Chittoor Campus emergency protocols was developed and implemented
