Research Office Activities

The Research Office of CMC Vellore conducts a number of activities, one of the most significant being, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) meetings. The IRB meetings help researchers to produce good quality research work. Each research study is reviewed by external and internal members of the IRB committee and the researcher is allowed to carry out research only after obtaining approval from the IRB.

The research office provides research grants for an amount of up to Rs 1.5 lakhs per year for a total of 2 years (total of Rs 3 lakhs). In addition, junior consultants have the one-time opportunity to apply for a major research grant which is a total of Rs 4 lakhs.

The Research office conducts an annual symposium called “Annual Research Day” every year. For the year 2021-2022 the programme showcased research activities undertaken by the faculty and students of medical specialities, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences along with Field and Epidemiology, Bioengineering and the various PhD programmes at CMC Vellore. This year also highlighted COVID19 related basic, translational and clinical research as a separate category. There were a total of 224 poster presentations and 245 podium presentations.
