Educational Initiatives

CME on Update in Neuroanaesthesia and Neuromonitoring A one day CME titled “Update in Neuroanaesthesia and Neuromonitoring” followed by a workshop was conducted by The Department of Anaesthesia on 15th July 2017.

The programme was vibrant with a variety of topics for discussion ranging from Crisis Management in Neuroanaesthesia, Management of Traumatic Brain injury, Neuroradiology and Neuromonitoring, Anaesthetic management of Awake Craniotomy and Intra Cranial Aneurysm Clipping, Paediatric Neuroanaesthesia and Anaesthesia for Interventional Neuroradiology, Transcranial Doppler, Optic Nerve sheath Diameter, Cerebral oximetry, Jugular venous oximetry, Depth of Anaesthesia monitoring, Neurophysiological Monitoring, Neuroradiology, and Airway management in cervical spine instability.

The department thanks the organizing team: Dr.Sajan Philip George, organizing chairman, Dr.Ramamani Mariappan, organizing secretary, Dr.Georgene Singh, scientific committee chairman and Dr.Raj Sahajanandan, Treasurer for the grand success of the programme.

course on Hospital Infection Control Stewardship 2 nd Certificate Training in Family Medicine for MBBS Graduates in Antimicrobial Mission Hospitals The Department of Medical Education conducted contact courses in Postgraduate Diploma in Family Medicine (PGDFM) from 26th June to 8th July 2017 for the batches of 2016 and 2017 .They were given assessment in theory, practical exams, final project presentations and Objectively Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) along with training pertaining to secondary level health care.

Some of the notable projects implemented as part of the training by the students were “Educating the rural masses of Uttarakhand and UP East on common health issues with integration of chip based technology”, “Knowledge about common ocular conditions in South Tamil Nadu”, “Patients satisfaction study in St.Barnabas hospital, Ranchi”, “Little hearts health camp conducted at CSI school Ikkadu”, “An observational study on dengue fever infections among adult population admitted as in-patients and incidence of severe dengue infection over one year” and “Assessment of awareness among hospital staff regarding basic emergency management and implementation of biomedical waste segregation and disposal”.

The students along with 62 faculty members had a fully academic experience and the programme has been awarded two hours of credit points by the Tamil Nadu Medical Council.

The Distance Education Unit conducted a one-day workshop on writing Self Learning Modules on 28th June 2017. The topics included Adult Learning principles, Assessments for Adult Learners, Teaching methodology and so on.

The workshop was conducted keeping in mind the immense need for proper training in the country and that the expertise of CMC could be taken to them in the form of books and trainings which would eventually transform the health scenario of our country and the neighboring countries.

Retirements Mr. Sadhu Sundar Singh, Officer Gr.I retired from service on 15th July, 2017 after 34 years of service to the Institution. He was in-charge of the Laundry, Hospital Maintenance and Disposal unit. Under his leadership the department underwent major process changes which led to improved and higher efficiency in the working mechanism of the department as well as the staff. He is well known for his commendable inter personal skills which have evolved a pleasant working environment for the staff within the department.

His wife, Mrs. S. Nithyakumari is a retired Assistant Labour Inspector, Government of Tamil Nadu. Their sons, Mr. Ebinezar Joshua is working as a Clinical Researcher in UK and Mr. William Enoch Devairakam is working as a Radiographer in CMC. Mr. G. Govindaraju, Sel. Gr. Live Stock Assistant, Department of Community Health and Development retired on 15th June, 2017 after 32 years of dedicated service to the institution.

His wife Mrs. Pavalakodi is a homemaker and they have two sons Mr. Naveen Kumar, Mr. Praveen Kumar and a daughter.

Mrs. Rajiniamma, Hospital Housekeeping Attendant Gr.II, PMO (R.P) retired on 15th June, 2017 after 25 years of dedicated service to the institution. Her husband Mr. Pragasam is working as a Carpenter in the Department of Engineering. She has two sons Mr. Arulraj, Mr. Nagaraj and two daughters Mrs. Mary Vinolla and Mrs. Lourdu Mary.

Mr. B. Charles, Hospital Attendant Gr.I, Tubectomy O.R, retired on 21st June, 2017 after 32 years of dedicated service to the institution. His wife Mrs. Beula Rachel is a homemaker.

CMC community thanks them for their years of service and commitment to the institution and wishes them a peaceful retirement.

All Staff Retreat in Tamil All Staff Retreat in Tamil with the theme “Accept One Another “was held on Sunday, 16 th July 2017 at MBKG Pannai, Kasam. The guest speaker for the occasion was Mr. Jeyachandran from Christ Jesus Ministries, Palayamkottai who encouraged the participants and exhorted the Word of God. Apart from a time of prayer and self realization, the retreat had interactive sessions, games and quiz competitions.

Sheila Arnold and Family in Concert Monday 14th August, 6.30pm Celebrate Independence Day by enjoying an evening of western classical music and dance in the Scudder Auditorium.

We are delighted to welcome back internationally acclaimed pianist Sheila Arnold, classical guitarist Alexander-Sergei Ramirez and ballet dancer Sangeetha-Charline Navaroja. They will be joined by musicians from Vellore, for a programme that will include works by Chopin, Debussy, Schubert and many others.
