s. Mahendri N.V., Head of Dietetics, retired on 16th April, 2017, after 23 years of service to this institution. Having completed her M. Sc in Food and Nutrition from Mysore University in 1980, she joined CMC as Dietitian Grade IV in 1994. During her tenure as Head of the Department of Dietetics since 2001, Ms. Mahendri brought in many changes to the functioning of the department. Her area of interest in Nutrition and Dietetics is Paediatric and Geriatric Nutrition. She underwent Training in Nutrition Assessment for HIV Adult and Paediatric Population at the Tufts University, Boston, USA (Fogarty) in the year 2006. Besides regular teaching programmes for the M.Sc. and B.Sc. student nurses, she took up teaching of Dietetics students as well;
she has also played pivotal roles in the Hospital: CSI Jeyaraj Annapackiam Hospital, Palayamkottai and others Journal Clubs and case presentations, which are regular activities in the Sunday Services : April 30, 2017 6.00 pm : Scudder Auditorium department. Ms. Mahendri was actively involved in several projects, occasionally in the capacity of a co-investigator. Her prolific work has found its way into several reputed national as well as international journals. During her service, Ms. Mahendri was especially successful in reaching out to the community through Nutrition Education and Nutrition Awareness programmes for the public; she brought out educational pamphlets and information brochures in plenty. She was just as instrumental in organising the first Enteral Nutrition Workshop in the institution in 2012,

Department of OG Nursing observes Safe Motherhood Day Safe Motherhood and staff from Obstetrics and N ational Day was celebrated by the Gynecological Nursing and Community Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological (OG) Nursing on April 11th 2017, under the theme Quality Equity Dignity for Improved Maternal Health. Various competitions were conducted to promote the theme the previous week,
Health Nursing Department actively participated.
To effectively highlight the significance of safe motherhood, an exhibition was set up, inaugurated with prayer by Rev. Deborah, Chaplain.
