RUHSA organised a workshop between May 5 and 7 , 2016, in the department as part of a mission to train Primary Health Care providers from different health care settings to take initiative in preventive Cervical and Oral Cancer project using the 'Educate, Screen and Treat' approach. This mission is supported by Global Innovation Initiative, in partnership with the University of Edinburgh and Cornell University, US, Medic Mobile, India, and Distance Education Unit, CMC. This workshop was preceded by a similar one in March this year, organised at Padhar Mission Hospital, M.P, and is to be followed by a third workshop which will be conducted in July at Christian Mission Hospital, Mungeli, Chattisgarh. The Resource persons for the workshop were Dr. Rita Isaac, Professor and Head, RUHSA Department, CMC, Dr. David Weller, Professor and Co-Director of the Center for Population Health Sciences, University Of Edinburgh, Dr. Usha Poli, Associate Professor, MNJ Institute of Oncology, Hyderabad, Dr. Rabin Chacko, Professor and Head, Dental Department, CMC, Dr. Jachin Velavan, Co-ordinator, Distance Education, CMC, and Ms. Shreya Bhatt & Ms. Ranju Sharma, Medic Mobile. The participants of the workshop included dental surgeons, doctors and nurses from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences, Trivandrum, and from the CMC departments of Distance Education, Gynae Oncology, College of Nursing and RUHSA. th

Obituaries: Mr. Christudas Peter, father of Dr. Dincy Peter, Professor & Acting Head of Dermatology Unit-II, and father-in-law of Dr. Vinu Moses, Professor of Radiology, on 6th May, 2016. Mr. T. Isaac, retired Hospital Housekeeping Attendant, father of Mr. I. Joseph, HHKA, ISSCC OPD, and Mr. I. Samuel, HHKA, Radiology on 11th May, 2016.
