Regional Symposium and Refresher Course for Pharmacists Then the Lord will appear over them; his arrow will flash like lightning. The Sovereign Lord will sound the trumpet; he will march in the storms of the south, and the Lord Almighty will shield them. The Lord their God will save them on that day as the flock of his people. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown.

The Department of Pharmacy Services organised a Regional Symposium and Refresher Course for Pharmacists, themed 'Update in Pharmacy Practice Focusing Patient Care' on 28th May, 2016, at the Jacob Chandy Hall, Paul Brand Building, in association with Tamilnadu Pharmacy Council, Chennai. More than 108 delegates, including hospital pharmacists (Mission Hospitals, Railways Hospitals), community pharmacists, and members from the Drugs and Chemists Association, faculty and students from pharmacy colleges actively participated in the symposium. It was opened with prayer by Chaplain, Mr. Paul Ravikumar, following which, Dr. Winsley Rose, Associate Head, Pharmacy Services, welcomed the dignitaries and the participants. Dr. S. Annadurai, Professor, Pharmacy Services, and Organising Secretary of this symposium, then highlighted the purpose of the workshop. The Chief Guests, Sh. Abdul Khader, Director of Drugs Control (Tamilnadu), Chennai, and Dr. Ajithadas Aruna, Joint Director of Medical Education (Pharmacy), Chennai, inaugurated the symposium, along with other dignitaries and delivered the key-note address. Dr. Anil Kuruvilla, Associate Director, Dr. C.E. Eapen, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Judy Ann John, VicePrincipal (AHS) and Sr. Florence Segaran, Deputy Nursing Superintendent, gave the felicitations. The Officers of Tamilnadu State Drug Control Administration, Mr. Sivanandham, Deputy Director of Drugs Control, Chennai, and the Drugs Inspectors of Vellore zone, Mrs. P. Mahalakshmi and Mr. Karthikeyan were also present during the inaugural ceremony.

The sessions featured presentations by external experts from pharmacy academia, Pharmacovigilance programme of India, and Faculty from CMC. In addition, an interactive panel discussion was arranged between the audience and the panel of external and internal experts. The positive feedback from the delegates Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved members of the families at this time of grief and loss. came with a demand for more two-day symposiums.
