11.1 General maintenance

Preventive actions

If the machine is unused for some time, e.g. a week or longer, remove the scraper knives from the machine. Take the knives out with the attached holder. To do this, simply loosen the bolt (48) (Figure 11.1) and pull the bolt (49) (Figure 11.2) out. Put the knives in their place at the Marín workshop.

NOTE! Spray the machine with certified food protection machine oil, preferably twice a month and also every time the ship docks or if processing stops for any length of time.

11.2 Lubrication

Lubricate the machine with a grease approved by Vélfag ehf. Make sure that all the speed rotation axles are filled with grease until the lubricant comes out, the lubrication chamber is full and all the water is gone.

The user can programme the automatic lubrication system by entering the ‘Settings’ menu on the touch screen and selecting ‘Lubrication’. Here, the user can adjust the time length of lubrication in seconds and the length of time elapsing between each time the machine self-lubricates.

If the lubrication pumps appears to be inactive, the machine can be lubricated manually by opening the valve (52) and manually pumping into the lubrication nipple (51).

Several lubrication nipples are located in various places on the machine (Figure 11.6), which must be manually lubricated. To lubricate, the machine must be stopped by pressing the emergency stop button. Use appropriate personal protective equipment. Lubricate all speed rotation axles every six hours and all other grease nipples every 8–12 hours.
