ello everyone! Welcome to issue #3 of Vegas Automotive Magazine! We are at the half way mark for 2018! I am excited for you to check out this issue but before you turn the page I have a few things I want to share with you.
If you are just joining us or learning who we are, thank you for taking the time to check us out! We encourage you to check out back issues online at www.vegasautomag.com we will always keep back issues up for all to enjoy. Please share with a friend and help spread the word. Some of you may know that our magazine was created by me and my FiancĂŠ, Adrian. We thought long and hard about how to introduce this to the community to have the maximum impact possible and we fell on Vegas Automotive Magazine. We already knew that we wanted to grow this platform in so many ways so we have been working on the bigger picture behind the scenes. We have been finding various collaborators and other talented people to work with since day 1. We are excited to share with you our company and team name, Brakr Industries. Brakr will be publishing Vegas Automotive Magazine from now on. Brakr is a team of creators looking to educate, entertain and just have a good time! T
here are so many events in Las Vegas it is hard to attend all of them. Our team decided to check out the Vegas Drift Spirit of the Streets event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This event did not disappoint. There were vendors selling awesome apparel and drifting gear. There was a food vendor that was selling all kind of goodies, including jumbo corn dogs which seemed to be a favorite of the crowd. The event was also very family friendly. There were kids in the stands getting hyped off the cars and probably sugary snacks. The diversity among the groups of people attending the event was awesome to see. If all that wouldn’t compel you to come check out this event then the main attraction sure would, the drifting! Walking around we saw some awesome rides that had been painted, cleaned, and tuned to perfection specifically for this event. The drivers really put their all into getting the best scores they could, this was obvious to all the spectators watching. There were drift cars riding in tandem taking every corner with precision right behind each other. There were solo drivers hugging the tight corners with ease. The drivers of these cars made it look so seamless which made for a very entertaining time for all spectators. Of coarse with all the flawless runs came some slip ups. There were some cones that unfortunately became flat, some spin outs off the course, and tires that just didn’t grip. This made for some exciting moments for spectators and probably some not so happy drivers. Overall this event was exciting and fun. If you ever get the chance you should check it out, you won’t be disappointed! I didn't want to give too much away and unfortunately we were only able to make it out for one day but it was enough to get us interested, these events are in our own backyard most of the time! Las Vegas Motor Speedway is so close why would you miss it?

I
t is hard not to check out this team when they are around. We first saw them on social media but then had the opportunity to see some of the cars in action at a local Vegas Drift event. Fast forward a few weeks later and we were hitting the streets finding places to have some fun with the cars and get some shots for the magazine! Team Over Style is a grassroots style drift team based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. There are a total of 4 drivers at this time, Traverse Hilsabeck, Steezy Weaver, William Remishevskiy and Will Sawdey. The team met through out years of drifting in Vegas Drift events. They became friends and realized that they share an aspiration to keep up the style of grassroots and JDM roots style cars and driving. Each car has a distinct style of its own but run a vibe everyone can enjoy. After coming to this realization it was time to think of a name. We asked them what that process was like and they said " We honestly just kept saying different names for weeks until something stuck and wasn't taken online. Over Style was short, sweet and can be taken in so many different ways so Team Over Style was born and we are here to stay". They have been a team for about a year and a half now and things are coming together. Traverse is running the Southwest Drift Series Formula Drift Pro-Am Series this year and he is already in the #1 spot for points after winning round 1 of the series. They plan on keeping the momentum going by driving as many grassroots events and bash/fun events as possible! Having a good time is what they are about. We asked them what the best memory as a team is so far and they said " when we all drove together for the first time at the Vertex Festival at Grange Motorsports Park and was awarded the best team driving in our group" Keep an eye out as this team continues to grow and put themselves on the map. Will Sawdey
Will is 22 years old and was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. He is the youngest of 3 siblings. Will was a welder for the military and also recently ran a pool business for about a year. He is currently working at Exotics racing as a Maintenance Manager. He has plans on opening up a machine shop in the next few years. He likes bar hopping downtown and chilling at hookah bars in his free time, that is in between some good Sushi or KBBQ. Will drives the 1988 Nissan Cefiro on the team. He has owned the car a little over a year now. He actually learned about the car from a friend who owned it previously. His vision with the build was to style it after cars in Japan and their street drifting culture. Will says the biggest setback was "Wiring issues and parts availability with the RB". Best moment was when he first drove the car home with no second gear!

Traverse Hilsabeck
Traverse is 34 years old and is from Las Vegas, NV. He is a proud father of Maddox, age 6, and if that doesn't keep him busy enough he is also the Owner/Operator of Twisted Motion, Las Vegas Injectors Service and Team Overstyle. His favorite food is tacos and pizza. He enjoys drifting with friends and spending time with his son. He drives the 1989 Nissan 240sx Coupe in the group. Traverse has actually owned the car for 6 years after getting it in a trade. It sat for almost 5 years before he actually decided it was time to build it. The goal was to build a fun car to enjoy and use all the parts he has always wanted to use. We asked him what the biggest mishap was during the build and he said "The engine had a cracked cylinder wall the night before we were debuting the car so we had to switch the engine the night before and still make it to the event".

Steezy Weaver
Steezy is 23 year old and his hometown is Vegas. He is a Heavy Equipment operator. He comes from a pretty big family but stays in touch with his brother, parents and 2 cousins on a daily basis. He stays busy drifting, going out of town, riding jet skis, dirt bikes and mainly wrenching on cars. Steezy drives the 1990 Nissan 240sx s13 hatchback on the team. He bought the car in CA 7 years ago and surprisingly still has it. The car originally had an SR20det engine and stock suspension/body. He bought the car with drifting on his mind. He knew it would be a good opportunity to get into drifting and to learn how to work on cars. We asked Steezy what his biggest set back was and he had a good answer. He said "My biggest set back was when we first fired up the car and it was just dumping fuel into the motor, come to find out we never wired up the MAF. I am not good at wiring".
William Remishevskiy
William is 24 years old and was born in Russia. He moved to Vegas when he was still very young and has lived here ever since. He currently works at Exotics Racing as a Mechanic/Welder. In his free time you can catch him eating some hot wings and ranch, offroading, hiking or snowboarding. William drives the 1994 Nissan 240sx convertible on the team. He has owned the car for 3 years now. He originally had a 1996 Nissan 240sx S14 that he drifted into a pole and it was totaled but he knew he wanted to get back into one. He knew a lot of the drift community uses the same car so he had his work cut out to make his stand out. His goal is to travel to the east coast and drift at Pat's Acres go kart track. Will says "The build never stops, every week I'm fixing or upgrading a part or changing my suspension settings, with drifting it is always something".

his ’68 Chevy Nova is definitely a family affair, everyone has been apart of this cars life in one way or another. Sometimes our rides are worth more than any dollar amount you could put on them, teeming with memories of happiness and frustration alike. Even though they are not alive, vehicles have a way of becoming a member of the family. This car is brought to you by Tom and Kyle Grayson.
Kyle Grayson, who works for NDOT as a highway construction supervisor, probably got the idea of the orange accents on the Nova from staring at traffic cones all day long. Kyle has been in and around cars from day one, going to cruises, car shows, and drag nights with his dad ever since he can remember. Kyle says he was only about 4 years old when he changed his first tire, with a little help from Dad of course. In 1995 the car, sometimes referred to as, “Novacaine,” was purchased as a daily driver for Kyle’s brother. It was purchased private party and while the body and frame were in great shape the previous owner seemingly used it as a dump. The Nova was stolen while his brother was working one day, but thankfully found and returned unharmed. It has taken 15 years to get to its current stage, Kyle says. The main reason it took that long to build being money and spare time, which we can all relate to. The interior was stitched by Kyle’s mother, whom recently passed away, including the bowtie pattern on the seats. So not only does it have a 383 cubic in stroker pushing it forward, but also love and memories giving it that extra boost. Kyle says they are looking to put bigger tubs, and in turn bigger and stickier tires to handle the future twin turbos that will be forcing the Nova down the track. To some a vehicle is just a machine that takes us to work and back while they ignore that check engine light for another 1000 miles. But for the rest of us they are so much more and this Nova is a great example of just that.

I
f you are reading this right now and you live in the desert, chances are you have seen a truck that looks like this before. The term commonly used is “prerunner”. It is a street truck designed to prerun off road courses and prepare for running it in a much faster race vehicle. Although the term is used a little more loosely now to cover street trucks that are daily driven and used as toys it still carries the same concept of making a street truck into an off road capable vehicle. Being based out of Vegas, we are very excited to start working on more projects with prerunner trucks in the future. Mike Gomez was born and raised right here in Vegas with a huge family! He has been a professional mechanic for 13 years now. Off-road has recently became a huge part of his life and for the past 5 years his love and passion for the desert has grown. He thinks back to when he got his first truck at age 15 and now that he reflects on it he says it was a huge P.O.S but he loved working on it and things snowballed from there into his career and hobby. He bought the truck from a friend that had started building it 6 years ago and Mike began putting his own touches on it. His goal was to have a Ranger that stood out compared to other Prerunner Rangers. Fast forward to now and you can catch him ripping it up at Jean or Dumont putting his long travel suspension to work. You can’t miss him with this awesome wrap done by FilmWorkz. I personally love the wrap! Most prerunners, even when painted have very obvious differences in texture and color from the cab to fiberglass and this truck does not have that problem at all with this wrap. Great choice! We asked Mike if he had any setbacks during the build and he said “My biggest setback was last year I was going to start on my interior and I bent a rod and blew my head gasket”. Mike has some future plans he shared with us, they include custom PrP seats, roll cage, an redoing all the suspension. Off-roading is just like all other motorsports, once you get started with the mods and having fun with them you always get the bug for more!

W
ith out a doubt this 1929 Ford Model A Rat Rod turns heads. Whether it’s older cats that love it or it’s younger kids who have never seen anything like it, every block at least one person gets a crook in their neck because of this chopped Ford. Pair this with the Harley V-Rod and call it a party.
Devin Diego has resided in Las Vegas his whole life, but was born in California. At 25 years young he has a mind for custom motorcycles and cars. His day job is building custom Harley Davidson V-Rods, and selling body kits for them across the globe. He told us that his dad was into motorcycles which made him want to pick up a wrench and make his own. The aesthetics of the Model A and his Harley matching was not a coincidence, he specifically sought out the perfect car to match his bike. Can you believe Devin daily drives the tankless bagged rat rod? Neither could we. But he says he drives it to work, the gym, or the occasional Thai restaurant and loves the reaction he gets when he cruises town in it. Not only do the looks warrant attention but the thing is as loud as hell running open headers and constantly using his ahooga horn to make people laugh. I got to ride in it for the photoshoot and to be honest I excepted a painful ride seeing as there was barley enough room for one foot in the footwell and what looked to be one inch of padding on the seats, to my surprise it was pretty comfortable and easy to get in and out of. He picked up his classic in California and needed minor repairs to make it reliable. It’s running a 350 small block with minimal mods seeing as it's his A to B. The roof has been chopped but still provides ample head room. The Model A is bagged in just the rear without a tank to save space. Devin named his ride Sicario which is Spanish for hitman and has only owned it for a year, but he says he’s looking to sell to build another Model A with a twin turbo set up. I personally can’t wait.

e featured a couple and their rides the first two issues and we wanted to keep it going for this issue. This issue we bring you Angelo Nittoli and Erika Soto. Angelo drives a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Base Model 2.0T Manual and Erika drives a 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 Base Model 2.3T Manual. Their cars stood out to us on Instagram and we wanted to learn more about them.
Angelo and Erika met through a mutual friend in High School. Ironically they never spoke to each other in school but began dating shortly after graduation. Right after they started dating it was obvious they both had a love for cars and they continued to build on that together. Erika was driving a manual 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse and Angelo had recently purchased his manual Hyundai Genesis Coupe. After 4 years of driving and loving her Eclipse it began falling apart. Erika decided to purchase a pre-owned 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 and get right to modifying it. She installed coilovers, cold air intake, NRG steering wheel and a few other bolt-ons. Angelo’s Genesis was completely stock when he first got it. The first mod he did was install a subwoofer. From that point on he began knocking mods off his checklist including coilovers, headlights, exhaust, wheels, wrap, shift knobs etc. He loves to change it up here and there to keep the car exciting and different. It is nice to hear these stories and how working on cars together can help build strong relationships. Erika says “with the time and work we put into each of our cars we have created a stronger connection that continues to grow”. Their passion for cars also brought them to meet so many special people in their lives. They don’t see themselves losing any interest in the car scene anytime soon.
Erika is 23 years old. She is extremely family oriented and got into cars thanks to her father. He was a mechanic and influenced her to have an interest in cars at a young age. She has had her car for almost 2 years now and is looking forward to modifying it even more. Some of her best experiences in the car are going on road trips, specifically the trip to Mammoth Lakes, California. Her goals with the car are to drive it the way she does and still take home a first place Mazda trophy at any local show. You can find her hanging outdoors, enjoying some KBBQ and working on her car!
Angelo was born in Oceanside, NY in 1994 but moved to Vegas in 1997 and has been here ever since. His dad has been remodeling houses for over 40 years and now he works along side his father 6 days a week. Angelo says he has been into cars ever since he can remember. It started with Hot Wheels, car video games and the passion just kept growing from there. He has owned his Genesis for almost 5 years. His best memory with the car so far is the first time he saw it after it was wrapped. You can catch him exploring outdoors with their dog, enjoying some Italian food and of course modding his car.

hat kind of car is that? That is the first question most people ask themselves when first seeing this car out on the road. The answer is a Subaru Forester. We met with the owner, Ryan Orr, early this year at a local car meet. I recognized his car from Instagram and we started talking about his car instantly. Almost every corner of this car has been touched and modified at least one way or another. Ryan is 28 years old and has two sons, age 3 and 8. He was born and raised in Las Vegas. When we asked Ryan what made him get into cars he told us that he grew up working on all the family cars with his dad and he fell in love with the mechanics of cars. Ryan learned to drive in his sister’s 1991 Five Speed Mitsubishi Eclipse. He says once he hit third gear he was hooked on fast cars. Fast forward to 2016 and Ryan purchased a completely stock, brand new Subaru Forester. This was the first brand new car he ever purchased. When he saw the new platform he knew despite all the disadvantages it has, like having no aftermarket options at the time, he envisioned the way the car sits now and went for it. He wanted to apply the style he had on his old Forester to this one. The motor work was done within 6 months of owning it and everything else has been done sporadically. He said he gets an idea and if it’s still there in a week he will put it in the works. Ryan said his biggest setback while building the car was just the fact that just about every part had to be custom made or altered to fit the car. Now he enjoys daily driving the car, everywhere from a trip to the Shark Reef with his kids, Pkwy Tavern with friends to a weekend road trip. He is happy with the way the car sits now but you never know what he might do next. Our whole team was stoked to feature this build, I personally have taken a few rides in this car and it gets down! We even put it to a little rally test in the desert and WOW! This car can take a beating! We went a little too crazy and destroyed the custom made splitter on the front end so we had to postpone this photoshoot so Ryan had time to replace it. Talk about crunch time!

There are so many details that show how unique this build is that we had to squeeze in as many photos as we could! This shoot was a fun one, Ryan brought his two sons out and we had some guest photographers from #Crookslife come out. We love what we do so it is such an awesome vibe when we get to shoot with family, friends and other passionate enthusiasts. Luxuriously Loud Mekka's 2000 Lexus GS 400 Sedan

e really can't tell what's louder on this 2000 Lexus GS400, the paint or the sound system. From the front bumper to the rear, every visual aspect of this car has been modified to suit Mekka's impeccable tastes.
Since he was born, Mekka has been a citizen of our great city. He grew up loving sports but in 2003 he discovered the one thing that made him move, dance. Since then he has worked hard and persevered in his trade enough to become a member of the famous Jabbawockees. Mekka owns The Factory Dance Academy where he teaches people of all ages to get their groove on. He also owns a mobile detail service called The Wash Guys that operates here in town. His love for customizing cars has always been with him, he says. Starting off with a 2000 Civic EX coupe that he slammed and threw 17's on. While working at Carmax Mekka spotted a white GS400 that came in for a detail and it was love at first sight. Soon after he sold is VR6 Jetta and bought his current Lexus private party. Since then its gone under a huge transformation, including a paint mishap where the painters got the color scheme backwards and it had to be redone. Oops! Recently Mekka took his lovingly named car, Jolly Rancher to the DUB Show in Los Angeles and pulled 2nd place for the Luxury Mild category. When we asked him about any future plans for the GS he said it was, “top secret.� So I would keep a look out for what he has under his sleeve, judging by the cars current state we know what ever is next will be good. We hope you enjoy these photos taken at a local Las Vegas Car Meets event. This was our first time doing a feature shoot right in the middle of an event. Brochacho Fest 2018 Images & Words by Clinton Rowley

rochacho Fest is an annual car show hosted at Bonnie Springs by the Las Vegas chapter of the Brochacho car club that’s not a car club. My wife and myself took the drive up past Red Rock to see what all the hubbub was about. We parked in the lot and had to take a five minute train ride up to the ranch where the festival was held, and as soon as the train pulls up we see that there are cars everywhere. Classic cars of all eras in an oval shape at the entrance of the property. We take our time to admire the cars, take a few photos, and say hello to a few people. After about 30 minutes I think to myself, “is this it?” Lo and behold we discover if you turn a corner near the back of the lot there is so much more, we had barely scratched the surface. We are greeted by a sign with a list of the days activities which include a pinup contest and a Radio Flyer contest. On the way to the back its one long trail of patina, white wall tires, and pin ups. There is a band playing in the center of it all, with people of all ages watching, chit chatting, and just having a good time. They had it all, everything from rat rods to lowriders, complete restorations, and one off builds that you cant help but stare at. I can not say I had a favorite car from the show, there were just too many to choose from. A handful of suburbans, old ford pick ups, a red bubble top Impala that was immaculate. All in all this once a year free show is a great way to take a drive with your lady through the canyon, look at awesome rides, have a beer, and shoot the shit. These guys are doing their part to keep car culture alive, and implore you to check it out next year, we’ll be there.
