Some people will tell you laughter is the best medicine. In Alesandro Ciampa’s case, laughter went a long way in aiding his quest for a potentially life- changing surgery. A comedy fundraiser featuring GTA comedians Jack
Dani, Sandra Carusi and Frank Spadone, along with Eggs Comedy from Humber College plus a performance by Alesandro and his improv group, entertained a packed house of about 700 people at Le Jardin Conference & Event Venue Friday night. Celebrated Canadian comic Russell Peters was expected to
take the stage, too, as a secret celebrity guest, but he didn’t make it to the show due to issues with his flight to Toronto, emcee Elvira Caria told the crowd. He did, however, pledge to donate $10,000 to Alesandro’s cause. See page 36
