A new year means new beginnings, and we have some great online programming to kick off 2021!

Children will love the activities at our STEAM PA Day, while adults can learn about public speaking, how to create podcasts, and crafting a memoir.

Meanwhile, our smallest readers can enjoy storytimes in English, French, and Mandarin.

I hope you can join us.

Our online programming is representative of our commitment to service and public health. Vaughan Public Libraries will continue to adapt to restrictions in York Region, ensuring that you continue to have safe access to our collection and resources. Our curbside pickup service has proven to be extremely popular with customers and I encourage you to try it. If you know what you would like to borrow, simply request the item via our online catalogue and choose where you want to pick it up when it is ready. If you don’t know what you want to take home, we can help there too. Answer a few questions on the curbside pickup page and our experienced staff will curate a custom package just for you! If you prefer digital resources at this time, you’ll be glad to know that our extensive online collection continues to grow. As of January 1, VPL customers can now access the entire RB digital Magazine database, which increases the number of available titles from a little over 100 to 3,700!

Digital Magazines Did you know that you can read digital editions of magazines using your library card? With RB digital you can access over 100 titles right now, and our collection will be growing to 3,700 publications on January 1!

Curbside Pickup Our libraries may be closed because of the lockdown, but you still have access to our collection. Place a hold and once it’s ready you can use our curbside pickup service to safely collect your items at a library of your choice. COVID-19 Service Update

We Are Your Lockdown Library!

Ontario entered a province-wide lockdown on December 26th, and while a lockdown has been in effect in York Region since December 14, we have been required to alter our services due to the new restrictions that were imposed. Here is what you need to know about how services changed on Boxing Day: All libraries remain closed to the public, but we do have an extensive curbside pickup program in place. You can place a hold as usual and seamlessly arrange pickup at a library of your choice. For more information on this service, visit www.vaughanpl.info/curbside Curbside pickup will be offered immediately within the entrance of Bathurst Clark Resource Library, Civic Centre Resource Library, and Pierre Berton Resource Library.

These branches will operate this service daily during standard opening hours.

For all other branches, curbside pickup will occur inside the main entrance to the branch or community centre and signage will direct you upon arrival. These branches have reduced operating hours and you can find what these are by visiting www.vaughanpl.info/curbside While our branch service is currently limited, we have created a digital library which provides access to a robust collection of resources as well as online programming to enrich, inspire and transform. Digital resources include

e-books, e-audiobooks, movies, music, a wide range of databases and more. Engaging online programming is provided for all ages across multiple platforms and includes everything from storytimes to guest speakers and virtual author visits. Visit www.vaughanpl.info/vpl_ at_home to get started.

We continue to accept returns through our exterior bookdrops, and all due dates, hold requests and overdue notices will continue as normal. All returned items are quarantined for 72 hours before being added back to the collection.

Sunday, January 24 | 2 pm Celebrate Family Literacy Day with Vaughan Public Libraries! Prepare to talk, sing, read, write and play in this hour-long celebration of Family Literacy and Early Literacy.
