BE MINE VALENTINE Saturday, February 12, 2 - 3 p.m.

Roses are red, violets are blue. A Valentine storytime just for you! Join us for a half-hour of stories and activities, followed by a half-hour of creating Valentines for all of those important people in your life. For ages 6-10. No registration required.

BORN TO READ AND MOTHER GOOSE Fridays, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Join us for an interactive program for parents and caregivers with infants up to 18 months. We will share stories, songs, rhymes, and early literacy activities that you can continue to enjoy at home!

After storytime, stay and network with other parents, and meet with a representative from the Ontario Early Years Centre. No registration required. No program on December 24 and 31.

FAMILY FLICKS @ THE LIBRARY Sundays, December 5 - February 27, 2 p.m.

READING BUDDIES Your child will be matched up with a qualified volunteer to meet weekly for one hour over ten weeks. During that hour, your child and the volunteer will use books, CD-ROMs and reading games to share the fun of reading. For ages 7-12.

READING BUDDIES VOLUNTEERS Volunteer to help children become better readers! Vaughan Public Libraries matches children with Reading Buddies for weekly sessions of reading practice in the library. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one hour per week for ten weeks. Students can earn community service hours by volunteering as a Reading Buddy. For ages 14-18. Getting Your Library Card Library cards are free of charge to anyone who lives, owns property, works or goes to school full time in the City of Vaughan. You can join Vaughan Public Libraries in person at any branch and online at www.vaughanpl.info.

Whether you apply for your library card in person or online, you will need to bring one of the following to verify your information: • proof of your home address in Vaughan • registration at a school or college in Vaughan, or • proof of employment in Vaughan

Children can get their own library cards. If they are 13 years old or under, the parent or guardian is required to sign the child's library card. If you don't qualify for free membership as described above, you can still join VPL. Please phone any of the branches for details.

Visitors to VPL You don't have to have a library card to visit branches of Vaughan Public Libraries to consult library staff or use the print collections on site. If you don’t have a card and wish to use the library's electronic resources, please bring with you valid identification, including your address (e.g. your driver's licence).

Library Services All branches have materials for reference and loan. The most comprehensive reference collections are held at Bathurst Clark Resource Library and the Pierre Berton Resource Library. Books, DVDs, videos and CDs are all available in many languages to meet the needs of our diverse community.

Books are also available in large print and as audio books. Community Library Link is a service to facilitate borrowing for people who are temporarily or permanently homebound.

Vaughan Public Libraries now offers a new and convenient Books by Mail service. For a fee of $6 per shipment, your items will be sent right to your doorstep. For more information, please visit www.vaughanpl.info/services/mail_delivery or call 905-653-READ(7323).

Qualified staff are always on site in each library to assist you in your search for information. They are also available to advise on leisure reading or on materials appropriate to your child's reading abilities.

Some libraries have study rooms available for groups or individual study and all libraries have meeting rooms available for booking by the public.

Pierre Berton Resource Library has both a boardroom and a training suite available for rent. Details of all these services are available from the libraries and on the website.

All libraries provide free access to the Internet and to PCs equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Wireless access is available in all libraries. CD-ROM stations are available for pre-schoolers to learn basic computer and literacy skills.

Each library has black and white photocopiers. Colour photocopiers are available at the Resource Libraries.

Library Services by Phone Telephone service is available at each branch during open hours.

VPL’S CINEMA COLLECTION GROWS AGAIN!

New for 2011, VPL is pleased to announce the introduction of a Cinema collection at a third location.

In addition to Bathurst Clark Resource Library and Pierre Berton Resource Library, Maple Library will now house a collection of foreign and independent films on DVD. The cinema collection focuses on the works of master directors from all around the world and films not made by the major studios or with big Hollywood budgets. This collection is a definite must for all serious cinephiles!

BOARDROOM: The Boardroom seats 18 at the table but the room can accommodate an additional 12 chairs placed around the room. An optional IT package is available which includes an LCD projector, screen and Internet hook-up. The Boardroom also includes a kitchenette for refreshments.

TRAINING SUITE: The Training Suite has eight computer workstations and is fully equipped with a non-optional IT package that includes a SmartBoard, LCD projector, screen, Internet hook-up and printer.

BOARDROOM: The Boardroom seats 18 at the table but the room can accommodate an additional 12 chairs placed around the room. An optional IT package is available which includes an LCD projector, screen and Internet hook-up. The Boardroom also includes a kitchenette for refreshments.

TRAINING SUITE: The Training Suite has eight computer workstations and is fully equipped with a non-optional IT package that includes a SmartBoard, LCD projector, screen, Internet hook-up and printer.

The cinema collection focuses on the works of master directors from all around the world and films not made by the major studios or with big Hollywood budgets. Getting Your Library Card Library cards are free of charge to anyone who lives, owns property, works or goes to school full time in the City of Vaughan. You can join Vaughan Public Libraries in person at any branch and online at www.vaughanpl.info.

Whether you apply for your library card in person or online, you will need to bring one of the following to verify your information: • proof of your home address in Vaughan • registration at a school or college in Vaughan, or • proof of employment in Vaughan

Children can get their own library cards. If they are 13 years old or under, the parent or guardian is required to sign the child's library card. If you don't qualify for free membership as described above, you can still join VPL. Please phone any of the branches for details.

Visitors to VPL You don't have to have a library card to visit branches of Vaughan Public Libraries to consult library staff or use the print collections on site. If you don’t have a card and wish to use the library's electronic resources, please bring with you valid identification, including your address (e.g. your driver's licence).

Library Services All branches have materials for reference and loan. The most comprehensive reference collections are held at Bathurst Clark Resource Library and the Pierre Berton Resource Library. Books, DVDs, videos and CDs are all available in many languages to meet the needs of our diverse community.

Books are also available in large print and as audio books. Community Library Link is a service to facilitate borrowing for people who are temporarily or permanently homebound.

Qualified staff are always on site in each library to assist you in your search for information. They are also available to advise on leisure reading or on materials appropriate to your child's reading abilities.

All libraries provide free access to the Internet and to PCs equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Wireless access is available in all libraries. CD-ROM stations are available for pre-schoolers to learn basic computer and literacy skills.

Each library has black and white photocopiers. Colour photocopiers are available at the Resource Libraries.
