Welcome to the Team!

Employee of the Month: Mari Torres

Employee of the Month: Persuasiveness

Mari is constantly going over difficult treatment plans with patients or explaining the reasoning behind treatment when there is a communication barrier. Her extensive knowledge of the dental field means she can answer any question that comes her way, which further increases patients' confidence in her. She always treats patients with kindness and addresses their concerns, making them feel heard and appreciated. This rapport creates a sense of trust in a population that is sometimes left behind in the health care field.

NEW SAFETY COMMITTEE

At Variety Care, we are dedicated to ensuring a safe environment for everyone —employees, patients, and visitors alike. To achieve this, we’ve launched a Safety Committee that engages staff from all levels. This committee collaborates with leadership to recommend improvements, identify hazards and create solutions that enhance safety across all locations.

“Our goal is to prevent injuries, illnesses, and suffering for workers, their families, and the employer,” says Tessa Newcomb, Safety Manager. The Safety Committee’s efforts will help ensure a healthier, safer workplace for everyone involved.

Building a Brighter Future

“For Variety Care through this program, we are able to provide a book to a child during there Well Child Visits from six month to five years. This allows our providers to discuss the importance of reading with your child and helps with development assessment. For some of our patients these might be the only books they have in their home and if they see us at every well child visit from six months to five years, they will have a small library of books.”

Breast October Cancer Awareness Month

Mammograms play a crucial role in the early detection of breast cancer. It’s recommended that women start getting mammograms at age 40. From ages 40 to 49, screenings should occur every two years. After turning 50, it’s advisable to have them annually. Early detection can lead to better outcomes, so staying on track with these screenings is vital. Always consult with your healthcare provider about your individual risk factors and screening schedule. Your health is worth it!

Cold Weather Reminders

Dress Code Dress Code

As temperatures start to drop, it's important to keep warm while staying professional! Please remember our cold weather dress code to ensure consistency across our locations. Below are the guidelines to follow on especially chilly days:

All staff may wear jeans and safe footwear (including boots) if:

The high temperature of the day is 32 degrees or below OR

There is snow or ice on the ground

All patient care staff must wear their Variety Care scrub top with their jeans. Administrative staff are required to wear a Variety Care logo top with jeans.

All jeans must be in good condition with no tears, rips, stains, holes, patches or discolorations.

Variety Care approved outerwear in black or charcoal (such as jackets, vests, cardigans and sweaters) may be worn in clinics over scrubs. Outwear that is not Variety Care logoed may not be worn in the clinics. Staff wearing scrubs may wear long shirts under their scrubs if they are black, white, or red.

Personal Appliances Personal Appliances

Portable electric space heaters of any type or design can create significant fire hazards and consume excessive amounts of electricity, and for those reasons are prohibited in all Variety Care, Inc. managed facilities.

Variety Care's Trunk or Treat event was a huge success, with 555 attendees!
