I have prior knowledge in Geology and, to date , a Bachelor ’s de gree in Architec ture.

A s a student architec ture , my goal is to take on projec t s that are aiming for economic , sustainable and ae sthetic buildings .

BOX OF CHOCOL ATES

R ENOVATION OF A BUILDING BLOCK AND CHOCOL ATE FACTOR Y IN BRUS SEL S The concept is to create a d y namic space for the people that are working in the choco late fac tor y and to give Brus sels more open and green space.

This is done by first removing all the inocupied and expiered buildings . The se were storage rooms , an empt y garage and unused parking space. On the second drawing you see how empt y the building block became.

The required aspec t s that the block must contain to add something to the area is : re sidential space , the fac tor y, and amusement options that lure tourist s . The po sitioning and shape of the buildings are based off impor tant axe s and line s that run through the area. The se are the line s from the train station to the fac tor y, a line from the open field to the chocolate shop, and so on...

the first step was taking inter views from the people living there , and doing a par tic ipator y re search with the c itizens of the area.

The first par t of the as signment was done in group s of 5 people. We de signed an option for the area with all the recommendations in our minds .

After taking the inter views , there was an interac tive map with all the suje sted options and alternative s where the people could point ou t what the y liked and did not like.

The se were taken into consideration for further improvement s .

On the day of the pre jur y we could de side i f we would go deeper into our groupwork , or choo se anothers groupwork .

I did not feel comfor table making another projec t with patio buildings since we alread y did this excerc ise. I cho se a group projec t with a renovation concept instead of patio’s .

END R E SULT: The green par t s on the model are the par t s i added to the area. The middle , that was full y built with house s , is now removed and made into a green area for the communit y.

The small appar tmentblock s are now re sized and reoganized so that there are 80 more housing options then be fore. There is aswell an added 600m2 of green space.

PALINGDROOM

PR OJE CT: This was the end projec t of the bachelor.

The y gave us a site where there was no contex t . The onl y thing was a canal and a bridge. You could choo se i f you kept the bridge or not .

I cho se to keep it and challenged my sel f into organic architec ture because of the lack of impac ting contex t .

This was an oppor tunit y and an experiment for my sel f to see how far i could go into the unkown.

CONCEP T: The concept was based on the combination of cohousing and a planetor y. The planetor y was an added func tion (obligator y) that was ideal be cause of the lack of light pollu tion.

I cho se to create a eal like building that would go in bet ween the pillars of the bridge. There would be space for 5 familie s .

It is a lineair building what make s it di fficult to combine a public func tion and a couhousing function.

There is a wall seperating both func tions and to enter your house , you could cro s s over the wall.
