IN the middle of March, I returned back home to New Delhi due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first couple of weeks went by eating lots of food, watching Netflix and FaceTiming friends. Soon, the country much like the rest of the world declared a nationwide lockdown which lasted for about 5 months with little to no movement outside into the city. The lockdown restricted me from stepping outside of my house which caused only a faint sense of interaction with the city. At this time, my house became my safe haven.
A few months fastforward, and all classes shifted to an online form of delivery. As the fall semester began, so did my challenges with the contrasting time zones. Nocturnality became my “new normal” to keep up with school.
Hence, this project explores the relationship between my space during quarantine to the city outside (or the lack of). The next page showcases a photographic documentary which records my paths, experiences and moments describing “a day in quarantine.” My day from sunset to sunrise is captured in these photographs ellaborating on how shift in time and scale impacted my and my surrounndings, majorly my relationship with the city which I grew up in, that now just felt like a nostalgic past.
