We are elated to share the exciting news that Vanguard Truck Centers has successfully acquired full ownership of Nacarato Truck Centers, a Nashville-based dealer group with 13 locations. Among these, nine are dedicated Volvo Trucks dealerships and service centers strategically positioned across multiple states. This strategic move marks a significant expansion for Vanguard, elevating our footprint to an extensive network of 39 locations, seamlessly spanning across 12 states: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. With the completion of the acquisition, Vanguard and Nacarato have more than 1,200 employees, almost 500 service bays and a lease fleet of over 1,200 units.

The Nacarato and Vanguard teams will work closely to ensure a smooth ownership transition. Vanguard plans to retain all existing Nacarato employees, with CEO Mike Nacarato continuing to lead Nacarato Truck Centers under its existing brand. “Over time, the groups will look for ways to leverage the combined scale of our network and strength of our teams to achieve more together for our customers and employees,” said Tom Ewing. “For now, our primary goal is to support the Nacarato team as they continue to grow while providing excellent customer service.”

Retirement Connie was a dedicated employee from start to finish each day, and throughout her tenure. This is evidenced not only by those who worked with her, but also by the longevity of her career. Her commitment to the company exceeded that of her job position; always quick to help with other duties such as preparing warranty claims, and payroll. It was, and still is, in Connie’s nature as a person to make sure everyone and everything was taken care of the best way possible.

Connie’s dedicated and caring presence will be missed here at Vanguard, but we are happy to see her get started on the next chapter in her life as she enjoys retirement with her Husband, Paul.

“Our payment methods are behind the times”

We are constantly evaluating ways to improve the payment acceptance process.

Procede is developing a payment platform for Excede in the next 12 months, which we hope and expect will be an improvement over CenPos. Please continue to share specific concerns with your managers so that we can relay to our vendor partners.

“It would be nice to get a breakdown of our bonus.”

We are exploring software that can automate the process and provide visibility to the employee on their bonus calculations.

“I received complaints for not accepting Apple or other tap to pay methods.”

We are looking at these methods (which may also be available with new payment platform) – however, they do come at a cost…due to increased credit card fees. We will need to balance cost and convenience in the solutions we roll out.

“Are we allowed to rollover PTO days from one year to the next?”

A:

Yes, employees can rollover up to 40hrs of PTO to be used by 7/1/24.

What’s New Front-Load/Accrual PTO Policy for all full-time employees (working at least 30 hours per week) with at least one year of tenure as of 1/1/2024 and an employee status of active will receive 40 hours of front-loaded PTO on 1/1/2024.

Accrual rates will vary to account for the 40 hours of frontloaded PTO.

EFFECTIVE JAN 2024

Employees are eligible to rollover up to 40 hours of unused PTO balances. Rollover balances must be used by 7/1/2024.

The accrual of PTO is earned on a per-pay period basis.

The accrual tier is based on seniority date.

New employees will begin accruing time off on their first day of employment but will not be eligible to take paid time off until they have completed their 90-day review period.

Schedule of Accrual < 1 year – 10 days (80 hours) Completion of 1 year – 15 days (120 hours) Completion of 4 years – 18 days ( 144 hours) Completion of 8 years – 20 day (160 hours) Completion of 15 years – 25 days (200 hours)

Example When viewing available PTO balances on Paycom: "Beginning Balance" is your unused PTO, representing the rollover amount from the previous year.

The "Awarded" section is the front-loaded PTO available to full-time employees with more than a year of tenure.

"Special Holidays" are hours for two of the four floating holidays available.

Remember to use "Front-loaded/Rollover PTO" option first when submitting your time-off requests. Rollover balances must be used by 7/1/2024.

OR participate in an onsite screening at your work location to receive the incentive in December. Completion of either option earns 30 points.

Complete the Tobacco Attestation based on your tobacco use status to earn 20 points. Nicotine users, complete the "Attestation for Tobacco Users" and the Quit Smoking for Good course (this course lasts at least 3 weeks); non-nicotine users, complete the "Attestation for Non-Tobacco Users".

Choose and complete a Plan for Wellness activity to earn 30 points. (this activity will require a few minutes a day for 3 days).

“WHEN THE CUSTOMER COMES FIRST, THE CUSTOMER WILL LAST.” – ROBERT HALF Caleb Alexander, Lease and Rental Account Manager, has known Josh Mattison, owner of Mattison Trucking since 2020. Josh has been building his rolloff business over the past 25 years in middle Georgia. When he and Caleb met, Josh's fleet was aging, and he was frustrated by having to juggle trucks breaking down and still trying to meet his customer's demands. Josh truly is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, and it pained him every time he had to tell a customer that their loads would be delayed because of truck issues. Caleb and Josh began talking about how leasing new trucks could help his business. After a few months of talking, Josh was sold on the idea. Caleb helped get him into rental interims while he waited for his custom spec new trucks to be built. Josh saw an immediate improvement in on-time percentages, driver retention, and customer satisfaction. They both knew that this was the right path for Mattison Trucking. Josh recently took possession of his first new Full-Service Lease Mack rolloff.

In one month, he will be getting another. His business has started a new chapter, and we are thrilled to watch what happens next.

In the heart of generosity and community spirit, Vanguard's valued customers, Bulk Environmental and Republic Services, came together for their annual Christmas Toy Drive, creating a touching narrative of compassion and impact. Republic Services in collaboration with the Butts County Sheriff's Office deliver toys to underprivileged children in the area each year at Christmas. Bulk usually provides a monetary contribution to the Toy drive, however this year they were inspired to give more than just money.

Bulk VP of Georgia Operations Danny Stapleton was touched by a story a Butts County Sheriff told him; "He said that a young man came into their office years ago and asked if he could apply for a job. When the deputy asked why he wanted to be a Sheriff’s deputy in Butts County, the gentleman explained that he had been receiving Christmas gifts from them for over 14 years and without them, he and his siblings would not have a Christmas.” He stated that "He wanted to be part of that good will and serve his community.” Danny wanted to make sure that Bulks contributions would leave lasting memories. He assembled a toy drive committee, and they filled an entire pickup truck with gifts with the help of their employees and vendors. Vanguard donated six bikes and seven scooters to the drive.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD North Carolina As part of Vanguard’s ongoing effort to “give back and help in areas of need” the North Carolina Region sponsored Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes.

Their goal was to fill at least 50 shoeboxes to donate to this worthy cause. Because of their generous donations, North Carolina was able to fill a total of 64 shoeboxes. A very special thank you to everyone that participated. This was a remarkable display of charity.

GIVING BACK St. Louis St. Louis donated a crate full of winter coats and a crate full of food & supplies to MOVE (Missouri Veterans Endeavor).

This non-profit organization provides shelter for homeless veterans and assistance to help them get back on their feet. Great job STL!.

“I have worked a few places that has serviced this store prior to working here. Every time I talked to him, he was always professional and friendly.

Now that I am working for him, he is awesome! He is always jumping into help when I need it or anyone else needs it. I have never worked for anyone that cares about their employees as much as he does. He takes care of whatever our needs are the best he can. He works hard and is always has good spirit to spread around you never see him in a bad mood.

When I started working here, I took over warehouse management and was only with a person for a month or so before they left and after they left, he was back in the warehouse helping to make sure I had everything right and if I had any questions and didn’t leave my side till, he felt I was trained properly.
