In Loving Memory Ron Barr Ronald Barr Technician in Buda (Austin TX) died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 18, 2022. He was 62 years old, born April 16, 1960 to Melville Altman and Patricia McNabb Barr in Landsthul, Germany.

Ron had the rare ability to laugh, poke fun of himself and not to take himself too seriously.

He fashioned himself as a good-old country boy. He was reared in a military family and carried his love for former and current military personnel and a passion for his country throughout his life. He was extremely hard worker at Vanguard Truck Center of Buda, Texas and was honored by A.S.E. as the Master Medium / Heavy Duty Truck Technician of the Year.

An outspoken person, he did not mind sharing his thoughts and opinions on almost on any given subject. He was a big fan of classic country music and Jimmy Buffett. He and his wife Lisa, were founding members of the Austin Texas Parrothead Club.

He is survived by his dear loving parents, Melville and Pat Barr of Kingsland, Texas his wife of 25 years Lisa and his beloved daughters Samantha Phelps (Kenneth Pieper) of Burke, Virginia, Sarah Barr of Austin, Texas and Katie Barr Gilliam (Xavier) of Marble Falls, Texas and his sister Karen Lundell (Wayne) of North Carolina and nephew Josh Lundell.

Jesus Angulo Jesus was a long tenured and valued Lead Technician in our Phoenix region.

Here are a few words from his Manager and friend David Van De Grift.

“Jesus has been with Vanguard truck Center for over twelve and a half years working as a lead repair technician in our Trailer Shop. Jesus has not only been a Valued Employee but one that’s respected by his co- workers. With Jesus’s vast knowledge he was always willing to help in mentoring new hires. He was a great father and husband and during his time here he often spoke of the love for his Family and Friends. One of the ways he showed his appreciation was through cooking, Jesus would barbeque lunch for the Body Shop and he made the best Salsa. I’ve worked with Jesus for over 22 years, he was more than an employee he was a true friend, one that will be sorely missed by all.” ~ David Van De Grift

Vanguard Truck Leasing News May 18, 2022 We continue to see strong results in 2022 with 77 vehicles (33 Mack and 44 Volvo) in-serviced to put VTL in the top position of all members of NATLG (Mack Leasing System & Volvo Leasing System).

VTL is preparing to transition from CDK to Enrich, a platform well suited for leasing and rental, and plan to make the transition in conjunction with the VTC transitions effective September 2022. This new platform will provide much more detailed reporting and overall management of our business.

New people: Stuart Robertson – VTL Branch Manager for Savannah has joined us to sell and manage our product lines in Savannah. Stuart brings a leasing background and successful sales and Customer relationship to our team and will profitably grow our Savannah business.

Dakoda Crockett – VTL Service Foreman for Phoenix. Dakoda previously was a mobile service technician for VTC Phoenix. Dakoda is VTL Legacy’s first service hire and we are excited for our future growth in Phoenix.

Scott Clement – VTL Manager of Fleet Procurement based at corporate. Scott joins us with a background heavy in specialized trailer operations and sales.

Danny Clay – VTL Service Manager for Forest Park. Danny comes to us with extensive experience in service and a clear understanding of leasing. Danny will help us rapidly grow our maintenance business and serving our Customers in Atlanta.

New Assignments: Jennifer Schmidt – Branch Rental Manager for Charlotte. Jennifer was promoted from rental administrator to the outside sales position in March. Jennifer joined the company in January 2017 and has made an easy transition into our industry from the hospitality industry. She has earned her new position with her hard work and dedication to our clients and co-workers.

Todd Horne – VTL Sales Executive for Macon, Georgia area. Todd has done a good job in Savannah and now will have the opportunity to profitably grow the business in the greater Macon area.

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE The Atlanta Lease and Rental team recently took one of their customers Lykes Cartage, to enjoy the Mack NASCAR experience at the Daytona 500. The NASCAR Cup Series is held annually at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, home to the 500 Acre Motorsports complex. The trip presented a valuable opportunity for the sales team to expand their relationship with the client.

Everyone had a fantastic time, and the trip resulted in Vanguard receiving an order for additional trucks in the Austin, TX market. Vanguard has now become this customer's first call for fleet needs nationwide. Atlanta L & R highly recommends this experience to anyone interested.

TEAMWORK AT ITS FINEST Atlanta Vanguard Truck Leasing is currently inservicing 18 new Volvo VNR300 day cabs to go to work in the Atlanta Market.

This has been a collective effort between the new trucks, service, finance, back office, and the leasing team to get these units out to our new customers and on the road.

Over the past few years, we have trained and promoted nine stellar employees, two of whom attained multiple promotions. These employees displayed an unparalleled work ethic. Many worked their previous roles part-time while dedicating numerous hours per week to training and assessments, while others committed to a full-time training program. Change to PTO Rollover

Effective Jan 1, 2023 up to 40 hours PTO can be carried over to the next year but must be used within 180 days. If not used within 180 days the hours will expire.

Open Enrollment will commence on Wednesday 7/6 – Wednesday 7/13.

Open enrollment is conducted through Paycom, instructions are within the guide located under the Benefits Tab on VTCnet There will be a notification icon on both in the upper right-hand corner of your home page. When you select the notification icon it will direct you to the 2022-2023 Open Enrollment.

You can enroll via Paycom app on mobile device or within Employee Self Services on desktop.

You will receive a Paycom alert and email daily until you have completed open enrollment.

It is very important to review your current elections and ensure your premiums are as expected

2022-2023 Benefit Changes Medical Rates & Vanguard LiveWell Program All CIGNA plans are subject to a premium increase due to rising claims and healthcare costs.

However, to combat this increase, we are introducing the “Vanguard LiveWell Program”, an additional wellness program providing a lump sum cash benefit for completion of a biometric t screening at any point in 2022.

The Program pays out $750 to BOTH employee and spouse (if on the plan) in December for completing the screening; onsite screenings will take place throughout the fall, starting in September.

Including the Vanguard LiveWell Program cash benefit, ALL medical premiums will be reduced for the 2022-2023 plan year.

Trustmark Critical Illness – We are moving from an individual to a group coverage plan.

Additional conditions included: End stage renal failure, major organ failure and sudden cardiac arrest.

Employees currently enrolled in individual critical illness plans (plans elected prior to 1/1/22) can opt to continue their coverage with Trustmark directly or move to our group coverage plan and continue payroll deductions.

FSA/COBRA – Changing vendors from WEX to CAS. FSA rollover max has increased.

Current FSA cards are effective until July 31st.

CAS prides themselves on excellent customer service. *Important reminder: If you have FSA you will need to re-elect for the 2022-2023 plan year. This election will not automatically roll over.*

Q1 Employee of the Month Raffle Winners KISHA YOUNG PAYROLL MANAGER, SS “I would like to recognize Kisha Young for her outstanding efforts over the past 2 months. The payroll department was short staffed and a lot more responsibility landed on her plate. She stepped up to the challenge and proactively worked with Paycom to ensure all payroll was processed timely and accurately. She worked extra hours at home numerous times to ensure deadlines were met. She has been promoted to Payroll Manager. Kisha demonstrated her ability to manage the payroll function when unexpected circumstances arose. I greatly appreciate all she has done and I’m confident she will be very successful managing the payroll function.”

We recently changed to a new CRM tool and my team has been fantastic while we have been going through the training and the transition. Cliff Williams, Service Manager in Atlanta, is celebrating his daughter's graduation (pictured to the right). She was a dual enrollment student for three years and maintained a GPA of 3.7 and higher the entire time.
