Vanguard 2021 Holiday Bonus!

In recognition of your dedication and stellar performance over the last two unprecedented years, Vanguard will be paying a special, one-time bonus of $1,000 to each of our 900 employees, including our recently hired North Carolina employees! This will be paid to each employee on the December 17th payroll. We hope you will use this bonus to enjoy the holiday season with your families and celebrate your successes over the last 24 months.

VANGUARD 401K EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTION INCREASE

As part of our ongoing commitment to make Vanguard the best place to work within our industry, through our reward system, our culture and code of conduct, our facilities and our development of people, we have made the following investment to the 401k Plan.

In line with North Carolina’s historical 50% employer match, on January 1st, 2022 we will increase our 401k match level to 50% of all employee contributions up to 4%, which is double the match we have historically contributed! We want our employees to build a career at Vanguard that will last through retirement, and this is an important step toward that goal.

By deferring at least 4% into your 401(k) account, Vanguard will match you 50% up to 4% of your compensation on a per payroll basis!

Example: If someone makes $40,000 annually and is paid bi-weekly, then gross pay would be $1,538.46 each pay period. ($40,000 divided by 26 payrolls) Based on that, if someone paid $1,538.46 Defers 1%, deferrals will be $15.38 and match will be $7.69 per pay period.

Defers 2%, deferrals will be $30.77 and match will be $15.38 per pay period.

Defers 3%, deferrals will be $46.15 and match will be $23.08 per pay period.

Defers 4%, deferrals will be $61.54 and match will be $30.77 per pay period. *Vanguard employees are 100% vested after 3 years of service – this means should you separate from the company you will be entitled to both the employee and employer contributions made on your behalf.

Welcome, North Carolina Employees!

We want to give a warm welcome to our 150 new North Carolina employees!

We acquired Charlotte-based Advantage Truck Centers and Advantage Truck Leasing on 11/01/2021, expanding Vanguard's footprint from 20 to 25 locations across the country and bringing our employee count to ~900.

Founded in 1995, Advantage is a highly respected dealer group and leasing operation representing Volvo Trucks, Autocar, Isuzu Trucks and Hino Motors. Advantage has had a consistent track record of success in the Southeast region through both its dealership and lease & rental businesses.

WOMEN IN TRUCKING CONFERENCE

Dallas, TX November 7th-9th, 2021

WIT is an exclusive non-profit organization with the mission to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments, and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the industry.

Karen Allison, Atlanta New Truck Sales Rep, and Jacqulyn Morton, Atlanta Used Truck Sales Rep, attended the conference and were able to work with other female industry leaders from Volvo Truck North America and other major OEMs and peer groups to gain support and knowledge while representing Vanguard Truck Centers!

VETERANS DAY

The Atlanta Region celebrated with a new Volvo Military Tribute Truck and by attending a Veterans Day event hosted by JWH Transportation!

JWH Transportation is a 100-truck New Trucks paid for the wrap on this vehicle as Conquest Freightliner Fleet in Rome, a tribute to our military in partnership with GA that William Stevens has been JWH. working diligently on for the past The truck was unveiled as a surprise for a three years. Thanks to his senior veteran driver, Tony Stillwell, pictured determination and dedication, we below secured a 5-truck order with JWH back in May and finally delivered all 5 trucks breaking into this conquest account, local AOR account, and we look forward to growing with them. It takes a team and the Service Department in Adairsville has truly gone above and beyond to make this happen!

We are thrilled to welcome Jim Smith, Lease & Rental President, to the Vanguard team.

Jim came to us with over 35 years of experience in the industry, most recently as President of Interstate Nationalease, a regional independent leasing company based in Albany, GA. Jim also has direct experience leading an L&R business within the Mack/Volvo Dealer Network, as he was GM of McMahon Truck Leasing (Charlotte, Nashville, Columbus) for five years prior to his role with INL. Jim's role is a new position at Vanguard, and is indicative of the increased investment we're making to profitably grow our Lease and Rental business over the coming years.

We are pleased to welcome Lykes Cartage Company into the metro Atlanta market. We have partnered with Lykes to supply them with a fleet of 23 full-service trucks, including 9 new Mack MD6 26' box trucks and 14 Volvo VNR300 day cabs.

We are excited to be a part of their growth into a new market. Welcome to Atlanta, and welcome to the Vanguard Truck Leasing family!

Two new VNR300s were delivered to Steelmart for a 5-year full service lease renewal, signed by Caleb Alexander. We are currently working on signing additional lease trucks and selling Steelmart new trucks for 2022.

Forest Smith Forest Smith started with Vanguard 8 years ago after selling his construction company in Ohio and moving south to retire. Like most retirees, he sought employment as a supplemental income but more importantly, in his words he "didn’t want to just fade away." While Forest came to work for us as a CDL pickup and delivery driver, he was much more. A child right after the depression era, Forest always had stories to tell about past life experiences, failures, and conquests. Forest was the person that would do anything for anyone and always had a positive attitude with a smile on his face. He is always pleasant to be around and always had Vanguard and our customers in mind. Forest will truly be missed. He was more than a dedicated employee; he will always be remembered as a friend. Forest had a positive impact on everyone who knew him at Vanguard and was a true pleasure to work with. Thank you for everything you've done!

Hurricane Ida Relief After Hurricane Ida made landfall in Louisiana in late August, Vanguard employees in Houston stepped up and donated fuel, tarps, bottled water, and more!

New Truck Sales Rep Tony Castellon and his wife, Brittany (pictured below), delivered the supplies to Larose, LA (about 1.5 hours southeast of New Orleans) after a long and eventful drive. After delivering to Larose, they drove an additional 100 miles to Baton Rouge to deliver the rest of the donations. They were able to meet and speak with hurricane victims, who were immensely grateful for the donations.

Thank you to all who donated, and a very special thank you to Tony and Brittany Castellon!
