Greetings and welcome to the 43rd Miss Delta Teen Pageant, hosted by the award-winning Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated!
This year, we celebrate under the inspiring theme, “The Golden Opportunity”—a tribute to the limitless potential that lies within every young woman when she is given the tools, guidance, and encouragement to shine. Tonight, nine extraordinary young ladies from schools across our city—Andrew Jackson, Riverside, Ribault, Raines, Atlantic Coast, First Coast, Douglas Anderson, Bishop Kenny, and Trinity Christian—step into their moment with elegance, poise, and confidence.
These remarkable contestants represent the best of our community’s future. Throughout this journey, they have embraced leadership development, cultural enrichment, public speaking, and service. The Miss Delta Teen program is more than a pageant—it is a platform that equips our youth to dream bigger, reach higher, and walk boldly into their purpose.
As a chapter dedicated to excellence in youth programming through our Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, we are honored to continue this 43-year legacy of empowering young women. We are grateful to our families, schools, sponsors, and the dynamic Miss Delta Teen Committee for your unwavering support in making this year’s program a true success.
To our contestants: Your presence here tonight is not just a milestone—it is a golden opportunity to step forward into your greatness. May you continue to lead with purpose, pursue your passions, and illuminate every path you walk.
Christina D. Stallings
President
Jacksonville
Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter’s long-standing premier event, Jabberwock, had come to an end after 25 years. Several chapter members met and presented various ideas for a replacement event. This collaborative effort led to the birth of a pageant for teen girls in which personal growth, development, talent, and academics were key components.
In 1976, the Miss Delta Teen Pageant was launched. Gwendola Jones served as the Pageant Coordinator and Toni Wagner as Pageant Director. The Co-Directors were Geraldine Orr, Myrtle Turner, and Evelyn Anderson. During this time, Clara Walker Wilkerson served as Chapter President, and over 140 dynamic women were members of the chapter.
The first pageant was presented in spring 1976 at the Civic Auditorium, now known as the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts. James O Plinton Jr., Vice President of Eastern Airlines, honored us as our pageant host. Over 1,800 patrons attended the event, far exceeding all expectations. It was a glowing success!
Wynona Cargile Alexander, a Jacksonville resident and one of the 22 illustrious founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, extended greetings to the contestants and adolescent audience members with this charge: “In these formative years, yours is the opportunity and responsibility to avail yourselves of the highest attainable education and training - physical, mental, and spiritual - that will equip you to assume positions of leadership when you, as adults, will be the guiding light to other teenagers.”
Our first Miss Delta Teen was Angela Brown. Sharon Bruton was the First Runner-Up, and Flora Manor was the Second Runner-Up. Throughout the existence of the Miss Delta Teen Pageant, several celebrities and prominent individuals have graced our stage as hosts and special guests. The array of VIPs include mayors, college presidents, television and radio personalities (such as sorority members, Miss America 1994, Kimberly Aiken, and actress–writer–producer TaKeyah Kemah of “Cosby” and “In Living Color,” as well as actress Cassandra Freeman, most widely known for her role in the movie, “Inside Man”).
Tonight, the legacy continues, as we mark the 43rd production of the Miss Delta Teen Pageant. The event has continued to develop and grow since the first queen was crowned, but one constant has remained, the enduring support of the Jacksonville community. Thank you, and welcome to the show!

Aleesia is excited to be back in the city where she was raised, telling stories that matter to the community she calls home.
After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Radio and Television and a minor in Sports Business Management, Aleesia began her broadcast career at WBOY in Clarksburg, West Virginia. There, she served as an evening weather forecaster and reporter, covering major issues like the opioid epidemic and severe weather events. Her impactful reporting earned her an Associated Press award.
Since returning to Jacksonville, Aleesia began as a backup traffic anchor and multimedia journalist. She launched a segment called "Biz on the Block," highlighting local restaurants bouncing back from the pandemic at a time when many were struggling financially to reopen. Her passion for storytelling and eye for community-driven content quickly led her into a full-time reporter role.
She has since broken major stories across Northeast Florida, including the Dollar General mass shooting, the Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside parking garage collapse—which earned her a Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists Award—and, more recently, the FSU campus shooting.
Aleesia loves being out in the community and connecting with the people who make Jacksonville special. She proudly serves on several local organizational boards where she continues to find ways to give back and make a lasting impact. When she’s not on the story, Aleesia enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and cheering on her alma mater—the UCF Knights,
With over 25 years of experience in journalism, I have risen from the very bottom as a college intern at a local station to become a seasoned news anchor. Throughout my career, I have excelled in various roles, from assistant producing to investigative reporting, general assignment reporting, and anchoring breaking news. Engaging with the community through hosting events and visiting schools is a passion of mine. Born and raised in Jacksonville, I have chosen to raise my own children in this vibrant city that I love dearly.
From its beautiful beaches to its evolving infrastructure, Jacksonville is not just a place to me – it’s home. I have developed a deep-rooted love for this city, from its picturesque landscapes to its beautiful beaches and river. As a true “water baby,” I find solace and joy in the water. Growing up, I attended public schools in Jacksonville and chose to stay home for college where I worked my way through school.
In college, I discovered my passion for sports – excelling in track, attempting volleyball despite my height. I came from a family that loves music, dancing and swimming. I do my best to make my way to Jacksonville international airport as often as possible to hit the skies for an adventure. My travels may take me far, but it always brings me right back home, here to Jacksonville.
I am deeply involved in my community, working tirelessly to enhance the place I call home. Being a part of various nonprofit and civic boards, I dedicate myself to giving 100% and inspire others to do the same. As a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, I continue to uphold the values of service and community engagement day by day, striving to make the world a better place. And I encourage those around me to do the same.
