The second edition of the Vanguard Personality of the Year awards, took place last weekend in Lagos at the Oriental Hotel, Lekki. Instituted a year ago, the award is aimed at celebrating exceptional achievers in Nigeria and drawing attention to the importance of service. Three great Nigerians were honoured for their VWHUOLQJ FRQWULEXWLRQV LQ WKHLU GLIIHUHQW Ă&#x20AC;HOGV RI Endeavour. Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan (CON), governor of Delta State, emerged Personality of the year. He was honoured for his effort in creating a Delta beyond oil, an effort that is already making all the difference and serving as model to help draw attention away from oil. Chief (Dr.) Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuwu, Chairman, Innoson Group of companies is Vanguard Most Innovative Industrialist of the year 2013. Born without the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth, from a modest beginning selling spare parts, he has grown KLV FRPSDQ\ WR EHFRPH WKH Ă&#x20AC;UVW LQGLJHQRXV YHKLFOH manufacturing plant in Nigeria. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, MFR, GCON is the third recipient. He is Vanguard Africa Personality of the Year $OKDML 'DQJRWH¡V EULOOLDQFH LQ EXVLQHVV QR GRXEW earns him the status as the richest man in Africa.
