Dear Skating Friends, Benvenuti!

On behalf of the International Skating Union, it is a great pleasure for me to extend a warm welcome to all of you at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2018 in Italy.

We have the opportunity to see the best Figure Skaters in the world at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan. I am sure this major ISU Event will be a spectacle full of exciting performances. I wish everybody at the venue and the fans from all over the world a very joyful and memorable experience.

The ISU would like to thank the Federazione Italiana Sport del Ghiaccio.

Compliments go to the Organizing Committee, the officials and the many volunteers who have worked hard to make this Event a success.

I also would like to extend my gratitude to the media and sponsors for their interest and contribution to the promotion and development of Figure Skating.

A WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE FISG PRESIDENT IL BENVENUTO DAL PRESIDENTE DELLA FEDERAZIONE ITALIANA SPORT DEL GHIACCIO

We will remember 2018 for a long time, no doubt about it. It gifted us with an Olympic season full of amazing numbers and results, and in a few days the city of Milan will be the proud host of the Figure Skating World Championships.

After the Pyeongchang experience, I am more and more convinced that this event is going to be a once-off, unique opportunity for Italy, for our organization and for all sport fans and enthusiasts. First of all, it is a date with history: after 67 years, Milan is going to host the World Championships again. For our country it would be the very fourth time. It is an extraordinary challenge, especially in the Olympic year, and it stands as a badge of honor and trust bestowed by ISU in view of our organizational skills. With the hard work and commitment spent in the last months, I’m positive that every hope will come true, and we will live up to the expectations over again.

Athletes will do the rest, with their stunning way of living a discipline which draws together emotion, grace, struggle and beauty. In South Korea our guys faced the world’s strongest opponents on an even footing, missing the medals by a hair, and reached the international top ten six times. With the motivation, the rooting audience and the support from our people, we can still think big and with no limits: our guys know this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance and they will be fired-up to give their best for Italy in such a spellbinding backdrop. However, no matter the results, the live event will be a sight to see, with some of the athletes who are rewriting the history of this discipline breaking records and scoring performances, which have so far never been so intense and captivating.

Milan will prove to be a pole of attraction for the world, an international city open to opportunities and large-scale events: on behalf of the whole FISG - the Italian Ice Sports Federation - my wish is to give Italy an unforgettable show.

And together we will.

Il 2018 è un anno che ricorderemo a lungo. Ci ha consegnato un’edizione olimpica eccezionale nei numeri e nei risultati e fra pochi giorni ci regalerà la gioia e l’onore di ospitare a Milano i Campionati Mondiali di pattinaggio di figura. Dopo quanto visto a Pyeongchang, sono sempre più convinto che questo evento rappresenterà un’occasione unica per l’Italia, per il nostro movimento e per tutti i tifosi e gli appassionati. Trattasi, innanzitutto, di un appuntamento storico: Milano tornerà ad ospitare i Mondiali a 67 anni dall’ultima volta, la quarta in assoluto per il nostro Paese. Una sfida formidabile, in particolar modo nell’anno olimpico, che rappresenta un attestato di stima e di fiducia da parte dell’Isu nelle nostre qualità di organizzatori. Grazie al duro lavoro e all’impegno messi in campo in questi mesi sono sicuro che confermeremo ogni speranza dimostrandoci una volta di più all’altezza delle aspettative. Al resto penseranno gli atleti, straordinari interpreti di una disciplina che concentra emozione, eleganza, agonismo e bellezza. I nostri ragazzi in Corea del Sud hanno lottato alla pari contro i più forti avversari al mondo, sfiorando la zona medaglie ed entrando in ben sei occasioni nelle top ten internazionali. Col sostegno del pubblico di casa possiamo pensare ancora in grande, senza porci limiti: i nostri azzurri sono ben consapevoli che si tratta di un’opportunità unica e saranno motivatissimi nel dare il massimo per l’Italia in un’atmosfera così speciale. A prescindere dai risultati, sarà comunque bellissimo ammirare dal vivo alcuni degli atleti che stanno riscrivendo la storia di questa disciplina a colpi di record, capaci di esibizioni intense ed affascinanti.

Milano si confermerà così polo attrattivo per il mondo, città dal respiro internazionale, aperta alle opportunità e ai grandi eventi: l’augurio, mio e di tutta la FISG, è di regalare all’Italia uno spettacolo indimenticabile.

E insieme ce la faremo.

A WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE MAJOR OF MILAN IL MESSAGGIO DI BENVENUTO DEL SINDACO DI MILANO

Milano dà il benvenuto alla 108ma edizione dei Campionati Mondiali di Pattinaggio di Figura. Siamo felici di accogliere nella nostra città le atlete e gli atleti in rappresentanza di tredici Paesi che si affronteranno sul ghiaccio del Mediolanum Forum in una competizione che ci aspettiamo avvincente e piena di fair play.

Il pattinaggio di figura è uno sport che unisce potenza ed eleganza, agonismo ed armonia che vanta un grande seguito di amatori e di pubblico e che ha regalato al nostro Paese numerose medaglie olimpiche e mondiali. Per questo aver scelto Milano ci ha riempito di orgoglio. Negli ultimi anni avevamo ospitato più volte eventi sul ghiaccio, ma i Mondiali sono qualche cosa di più: sono energia pura! Con entusiasmo dunque ci presentiamo a questo appuntamento che torna nella nostra città dopo 67 anni. Nel 1951, prima città in Italia, Milano ospitò i Campionati. Poi seguirono le edizioni di Cortina d’Ampezzo nel 1963 e Torino nel 2010.

Per la nostra città si tratta dunque di un piccolo record che cercheremo di onorare alla grande. Quando abbiamo proposto la nostra candidatura abbiamo scoperto di essere gli unici. Le altre città non avevano voluto raccogliere la sfida di un campionato mondiale da organizzare subito dopo i Giochi Olimpici e Paralimpici. Il timore era di dover organizzare un’edizione sottotono, con meno atleti, meno attenzione mondiale, meno partecipazione. E invece non sarà così: stiamo per vivere una competizione ad altissimi livelli, con la presenza delle atlete e degli atleti più titolati.

In una parola saranno Mondiali veri.

Voglio concludere ringraziando tutti coloro che hanno lavorato all’organizzazione di questo evento e augurando ai partecipanti di vivere dei campionati davvero indimenticabili.

Per Milano certamente lo saranno. Siamo una città che ama gli sport, che si sente a proprio agio nell’ospitare competizioni internazionali e che ama accogliere il pubblico di questi grandi momenti.

A tutti voi benvenuti e che per tutti sia “infinite passion”.

Style, charm, beauty: Milan under the World’s radar STILE, FASCINO, BELLEZZA: MILANO ALLA PROVA DEL MONDO In 2018, Milan will be the world capital of Figure Skating once again. The Italian Ice Sports Federation will have the honor to host the 2018 ISU World Figure Skating Championships at the Mediolanum Forum ice rink in Assago, Milan.

Nel 2018 Milano torna a essere la capitale mondiale del Pattinaggio di Figura. Dal 21 al 25 marzo, infatti, la Federazione Italiana Sport del Ghiaccio ha l’onore di ospitare gli ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2018 sul ghiaccio del Mediolanum Forum di Assago.

The city has been waiting for this event for 67 years.

Milan had the privilege to host this event only once, in 1951, over the 122 years of history of this competition, the first edition being held in 1896 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Many things have changed since that opening edition, which involved only male skaters. In 1952 in Paris, the current four-category system was adopted: Men, Ladies, Pairs and Dance. This will be the second edition held in Milan, the fourth in Italy, after the 1962 edition in Cortina d’Ampezzo and the 2010 edition in Turin.

Per Milano è un appuntamento che manca da 67 anni.

Risale, infatti, al 1951 l’unica volta in cui il capoluogo lombardo ha avuto l’onore di ospitare questo evento nei 122 anni passati dalla prima edizione, quella che si è tenuta nel 1896 a San Pietroburgo. Da quella prima volta, aperta solo agli uomini, sono cambiate tante cose per arrivare, nel 1952 a Parigi, alla configurazione attuale con quattro categorie: Men, Ladies, Pairs e Dance.

Questa seconda volta di Milano, la quarta per l’Italia dopo le edizioni ospitate nel 1962 da Cortina d’Ampezzo e da Torino nel 2010, arriva a conclusione di una stagione olimpica disputata ad altissimo livello.

This time, the World Championships are going to be held at the end of a great Olympic season, and the Mediolanum Forum will host the competition among the world’s best figure skaters, a month after the South Korean Olympic Games.

A unique chance for figure skating fans to see their heroes perform in front of them and a chance for those approaching this sport for the very first time to discover how fascinating it is.

Al Forum arrivano a sfidarsi i più forti pattinatori del mondo che si rimettono in gioco dopo un mese circa dall’avventura a cinque cerchi vissuta in Sud Corea.

Il gotha del pattinaggio sul ghiaccio si ritrova per confermare i successi o per prendersi delle rivincite.

Uno show mozzafiato, lungo una settimana, che vede il suo perfetto coronamento nel Gala finale durante il quale le star mondiali hanno la possibilità di esprimere tutto il proprio talento e la propria arte senza la pressione della competizione. Pattinare per il puro piacere loro e di chi ha deciso di riempire gli spalti del Forum.

Un’occasione imperdibile per gli appassionati di pattinaggio di assistere, da vicino, alle performance dei loro beniamini. Un’occasione anche per coloro che si avvicinano per la prima volta a questo sport e per scoprirne tutto il fascino.

The world skating elite will be joining again to confirm their victories or to take revenge. A week-long breathtaking show with an icing on the cake: the final Gala night where skating stars will have the opportunity to show their talent and artistic skills without the pressure of the competition; just skating for their own pleasure and entertaining the crowd on the stands of the Forum.

Yuzuru began skating at the tender age of 4, following in the footsteps of his older sister, Saya.

After two years of competition at junior level, during which he won a World Championship and a Grand Prix Final, he began his senior career, winning medals and setting records. In 2014 he became the first Japanese man to win the Olympic gold. In 2016 he was the first to land a quadruple loop in competition and the year before he was the first athlete to score over 300 points.

On 11 March 2011 his home and training rink were damaged by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami. In 2012 he moved to Canada to train with Brian Orser, Olympic silver medallist in 1984 and 1988, and Tracy Wilson.

Shoma Uno

Shoma Uno began skating at the age of 5. In his first season as a junior, in 2012, he won silver in the individual competition and gold in the team competition at the Youth Olympics in Austria. He made his senior debut in the 2013/14 international season. The following year he made his senior ISU Championship debut and won gold at the World Junior Championships.

In November 2015 he won the short programme competition at the Trophée Eric Bompard in Paris. Following the terrorist attacks in the French capital, the rest of the event was cancelled which meant that the short programme results were considered as the final standings.

Thanks to this finish he qualified for the finals of the Grand Prix in Barcelona where he won bronze. In 2016 he was the first skater to land a quadruple flip in an international competition.

Shoma Uno ha iniziato a pattinare all’età di cinque anni.

Alla sua prima stagione da Juniores, nel 2012, ha conquistato l’argento nella gara individuale e l’oro in quella a squadra ai Giochi olimpici giovanili in Austria. Diventa senior nella stagione internazionale 2013/14. L’anno seguente ha debuttato da seniores in una Campionato ISU e ha conquistato l’oro nei campionati Mondiali Juniores.

Nel novembre del 2015 ha chiuso al primo posto lo short program al Trophée Eric Bompard di Parigi. Un piazzamento che è rimasto tale dal momento che, a causa degli attacchi terroristici avvenuti nella capitale francese, è stato annullato il resto della manifestazione.

Grazie a questo risultato si è qualificato per le finali del Grand Prix di Barcellona dove ha ottenuto il bronzo.

Nel 2016, è stato il primo pattinatore a effettuare un quadruplo Flip in una competizione internazionale.

In the 2016/17 season he won bronze at the European Chammpionships and began to work on his program with Stephane Lambiel.

Boyang began skating at the age of 7 after watching a competition and was the first skater to land a quad Lutz-triple toe loop in a ISU competition.

His hobbies are music, cars and internet.

She won gold at the 2017 World Junior Championships and at the 2016–17 Junior Grand Prix Final, where she became the first junior lady to achieve a total score above the 200 mark. She is the 2018 Olympic champion, 2018 European champion, 2017–18 Grand Prix Final Champion, and 2018 Russian national champion.

Evgenia started taking skating lessons when she was just 3 years old. Her parents introduced her to ice skating not so she would follow in the footsteps of her figure skater mother but to correct her posture.

Evgenia’s role model from a young age was Evgeni Plushenko.

Evgenia fell in love with the sport watching the performances of the Olympic champion and decided that one day she wanted to skate like him.

After her victory at the World Junior Championships (2014-2015), Evgenia marked her introduction to the senior circuit by winning the Grand Prix Final, the European Championships and the World Championships in Boston (2016) and Helsinki (2017).

Evgenia ha iniziato a prendere lezioni quando aveva appena tre anni. I suoi genitori l’hanno introdotta al pattinaggio, non per seguire le orme della madre pattinatrice ma per correggere la sua figura. Il modello cui Evgenia si ispira fin da bambina è Evgeni Plushenko.

The pair began competing together in 2009. At the 2014 Winter Olympics, they won the gold metal as part of Team Russia and also won the silver medal in pair skating. They missed part of the 2016/17 season after Klimov sustained an injury.

They missed a large part of the 2012/13 season as Sui was recovering from epiphysitis and they also missed the first half of 2016/17 because of an operation she had on both feet in the spring of 2016.

Hanno cominciato a gareggiare insieme nel 2010. Marco Fabbri ha gareggiato nel singolo a livello internazionale fino al 2007. È stato più volte medagliato a livello nazionale e nel 2007 era al 18° posto del ranking internazionale, inoltre è stato campione nazionale esordienti nella danza su ghiaccio con Stefania Berton. Il fratello Andrea (più giovane di tre anni e mezzo) è anch'egli un pattinatore di danza di livello internazionale. Charlene ha garaggiato precedentemente per la Francia, suo paese natale. A Butterfly on the Ice Una Farfalla sul Ghiaccio CAROLINA KOSTNER How did you start skating? My mother encouraged me to approach figure-skating when I was 4. I now have beautiful memories of all the afternoons spent having fun on ice or at home, wearing my skates and tutu, pretending to be a figure skater at her rehearsals.

Was there a moment when you actually realized you could become a worldclass champion? Sometimes I think I was made for this sport. But it is clear that the years spent training, the dedication, and growing as a person - not only from a technical point of view - well, they are all key ingredients to add up to the qualities of every person. Every flower needs to be looked after, watered, loved, and raised. So, you know, the same is for everybody’s life and sports, as well.

How do you design a program? Designing a new program is a process far more complex than one might think, I am lucky enough to work with the best choreographer ever, Lori Nichol, that always finds a way to give shape to my thoughts. One great thing is that every program lives on experiences, on the growth of me as a woman and as an athlete. And that’s exactly what I try to do every time: turning my figure into gestures and movements, to create a real dialogue with the audience.

Your best quality? Tenacity, of course.

And one of your flaws? Only one?

Who do you draw inspiration from? I admired Yuna Kim very much.

More generally, I have always had great respect for other skaters, as I have always thought that, in your life, you have something to learn from everybody.

Have you got any hobbies off rink? I like traveling for leisure, getting to know the countries and people of different cultures. I love reading, going to the theater, going for a walk on my mountains, but also staying at home, cuddled up with my mother’s strudel.

Do you practice any other sports?

Sport is my life and I really enjoy skiing, for example. I also love dancing; I practice it to improve my movements, grace and interpretation.

What is the most beautiful memory of your life as an athlete?

I have so many beautiful memories. Of course, the Olympics and the medal I won took me to the top. It was the end of a stormy journey made of dark moments and great joys, but I managed to enjoy it all.

Never lose the desire and the courage to get involved, to improve yourself by accepting the criticisms, if they are constructive.

What would be your advice for a little girl willing to start her career as a professional athlete? I like to think that, through my commitment and my sporting activity, I may succeed in passing on to the new generations the idea that sports are beautiful. Patience, modesty, passion and fun, because shortcuts always turn to be blind alleys. And then, thinking of the new generations of Italian figure-skaters, my biggest dream is they don’t have to travel abroad since very young to follow their passion, but that they can find all they need in our magnificent Italy.

The World Championships will be held in Milan? What does this mean to you? What do you expect? Skating in my country is always a great emotion to me, and I must say that doing it here will be an even higher emotion, because I will represent Italy in a very important competition. This is going to be awesome.

Come hai iniziato a pattinare? Mi sono avvicinata al ghiaccio all’età di 4 anni, grazie a mia mamma, e ho ricordi bellissimi dei pomeriggi trascorsi a divertirmi sul ghiaccio oppure a casa col tutù addosso e i pattini a fare le prove per gioco.

C’è stato un momento preciso in cui ti sei resa conto di poter diventare una campionessa di livello mondiale? A volte mi sembra di essere stata destinata a questo sport. Però è chiaro che gli anni di allenamento, la dedizione, la crescita personale e non solo tecnica sono tutti ingredienti fondamentali che vanno ad aggiungersi alle doti personali di ciascuno. Un fiore, se pur potenzialmente bellissimo e unico, va curato, annaffiato, amato, fatto crescere. Ecco, così è anche nella vita di ciascuno e nello sport.

Come nasce un tuo programma? La nascita di un nuovo programma è un processo molto più complesso di quanto si possa pensare, ma emozionante e davvero stimolante. Su questo aspetto ho la fortuna di lavorare con la migliore coreografa, Lori Nichol, che è sempre in grado di dare forma ai miei pensieri, alle atmosfere che cerco, alle musiche che valuto. E la cosa bellissima è che ogni programma vive delle esperienze, della crescita di me come donna e come atleta. Ed è proprio quello che cerco di fare ogni volta: trasformare in gesti e movimenti il mio percorso, per creare un dialogo vero con il pubblico.

Qual è il tuo pregio migliore? Sicuramente la tenacia.

E un tuo difetto? Uno solo?

Hai avuto degli idoli a cui ispirarti? Ho ammirato tantissimo Yuna Kim. Più in generale, ho sempre nutrito grande rispetto nei confronti delle altre pattinatrici, partendo sempre dal presupposto che nella vita c’è qualcosa da imparare da tutti.

Hai degli hobbies fuori dalla pista da ghiaccio? Mi piace viaggiare per diletto, conoscere i paesi e la gente di culture diverse, amo molto leggere, andare a teatro, passeggiare nelle mie montagne, ma anche stare in casa vicino alla stufa coccolata dallo strudel di mia mamma.

Pratichi qualche altro sport? Lo sport è la mia vita e mi piace molto sciare, ad esempio. Amo molto anche la danza che pratico per migliorare nei movimenti, nella grazia e interpretazione.

Qual è il ricordo più bello della tua vita sportiva?

Di ricordi bellissimi ne ho davvero tanti. Certo, le Olimpiadi e la medaglia che ho vinto sono state il massimo, il culmine di un percorso tortuoso fatto di momenti bui e di grandi gioie, e sono riuscita a goderlo appieno. Non bisogna mai perdere la voglio ed il coraggio di mettersi in gioco, di migliorare accettando le critiche, specie se costruttive.

Che consigli daresti a una bambina che vuole iniziare la carriera agonistica? Mi piace pensare che, attraverso il mio impegno e il mio sport, io riesca a trasmettere alle nuove generazioni il messaggio che lo sport è qualcosa di bellissimo, se vissuto nel modo giusto. Pazienza, umiltà, passione e divertimento, perché le scorciatoie sono sempre dei vicoli ciechi. Se poi penso alle nuove generazioni di pattinatrici italiane, il mio sogno più grande è che non debbano più spostarsi all’estero sin da giovanissime per seguire la propria passione, ma possano trovare nella nostra magnifica Italia tutto ciò che serve.

Da questi Mondiali a Milano cosa ti aspetti?

Pattinare nel mio paese è sempre una grande emozione e devo dire che qui sarà ancora più grande, perché mi troverò ad affrontare una gara molto importante rappresentando l’Italia.

Endless Magic Magia senza Fine ANNA CAPPELLINI - LUCA LANOTTE How did you begin to skate?

ANNA: I began I wasn’t even three years old. When I took part in my very first competition I was only in pre-school. I can’t even remember life before skating and it will be a real shock after retirement. When I was 11, I was discovered by Paola Mezzadri, who encouraged me to take up ice dancing, she found me a partner and I began to come to Milan.

LUCA: I was 6 or 7: my parents owned a coffee bar between the headquarters of the Italian Winter Sports Federation and the ice rink, my sister used to skate so I was destined to end up on an ice rink.

When did you first team up?

LUCA: We began to skate together in the spring of 2005, initiating our first season as juniors at the Grand Prix. Our first year together was good and we even came close to winning a medal at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships. It was a wonderful start.

Luca, could you name a positive and a negative quality of Anna? She’s too precise. It’s a good thing when you need to be precise, but it’s a bad thing when you have to let things go.

Anna, could you name a positive and a negative quality of Luca? A good thing about him is that he can think outside the box. In sport, people often want to tell you what you have to do. They want to pigeonhole you because they have to judge you. But we have arguments when we have to follow a rule.

How is your life outside the ice rink?

LUCA: I’m a father. In the last 14 months I’ve dealt with another wonderful world outside the ice rink and I’m really happy. It’s very demanding, but the results you achieve every day are unbelievable. It goes beyond anything I’ve ever experienced in my life.

ANNA: My husband Ondrej is also an athlete of the national ice skating team and he competes at a very high level, like us. We really don’t have much free time. He loves to cook, while I’m more into eating. We like to discover Michelin-starred restaurants and to try them every now and then.

What was the best moment in your sporting career?

ANNA: When we won the World Championships, we looked at each other very seriously, without saying anything and hugged in complete silence.

LUCA: I must say that, even if it was one of the worst results in our career, the free dance at last year’s World Championships in Helsinki was emotionally the best. The standing ovation we received there was much more rewarding than the gold in Saitama. It was really unexpected.

How will it be to skate in Milan?

ANNA: On the one hand, it will be the perfect ending to such an important season. Skating at home makes you feel stronger, it’s an honor, it’s wonderful. You know that there are a lot of people who love you, that you’ll have your supporters. On the other hand, it is more difficult to keep the concentration. The difficult about skating at home is being able to isolate yourself and to handle it as a normal competition.

LUCA: I’m working hard to skate at my best and I hope to be able to achieve my best performance. If this doesn’t happen, I still hope that people will get crazy at the end of our program. I would like to feel once again as I did in Helsinki. I would love it if people stood up and gave me a thrill. It would be a wonderful finale.

Come avete iniziato a pattinare?

ANNA: Io ho iniziato molto piccola, non avevo neanche 3 anni: credo di aver fatto la mia prima gara che ero all’asilo. La vita pre pattinaggio non me la ricordo nemmeno e sarà uno shock quando smetterò. A 11 anni sono stata scoperta da Paola Mezzadri che mi ha indirizzato verso la danza, mi ha proposto un partner e ho iniziato a venire a Milano.

LUCA: Avevo 6 o 7 anni: i miei genitori in via Piranesi, tra la federazione e il palaghiaccio, avevano un bar ristorante, mia sorella pattinava e quindi era quindi destino che sarei finito anch’io a pattinare.

Quando avete fatto le prime gare insieme?

LUCA: Abbiamo iniziato nella primavera del 2005 a pattinare insieme affrontando la nostra prima stagione junior partendo dal Grand Prix. È stato un bel primo anno e abbiamo sfiorato una medaglia ai mondiali juniores. Un ottimo inizio.

Luca, un pregio e difetto di Anna? È troppo precisa, che è sia un pregio sia un difetto. Un pregio quando occorre essere precisi, mentre è un difetto quando bisogna lasciar scorrere le cose, assecondarle.

Anna, un pregio e difetto di Luca? Tante volte nello sport ti vogliono incasellare perché ti devono giudicare. Luca è sempre capace di pensare al di là degli schemi, un grande pregio. Però, al contrario, litighiamo quando c’è da seguire una regola.

Com’è la vostra vita fuori dalla pista?

LUCA: Io sono diventato papà: da un anno e due mesi ho un bellissimo altro mondo al quale mi sono approcciato e sono felicissimo. È una grande fatica, ma che dà dei risultati quotidiani inimmaginabili.

Va al di là di qualsiasi cosa io abbia vissuto personalmente in vita mia.

ANNA: Anche mio marito Ondrej fa parte della nazionale di pattinaggio perciò quest’anno a livello di tempo libero, siamo tutti un po’ stringati. Lui è molto appassionato di cucina, mentre io del mangiare.

Ci piace scovare i ristoranti stellati dove andare ogni tanto.

Qual è il ricordo più bello della vostra vita sportiva?

ANNA: Quando abbiamo vinto il Mondiale, ci siamo quasi aggrappati l’una all’altro. Ci siamo guardati serissimi senza dire nulla e ci siamo abbracciati.

LUCA: Devo dire che a livello emozionale, anche se è stato uno dei risultati peggiori in carriera, sono stati i Mondiali di Helsinki del 2017, in occasione del libero: abbiamo ricevuto una standing ovation che è stata un premio molto più appagante che non vincere i Mondiali. A livello emozionale mi ha arricchito molto di pù questo rispetto alla vittoria a Saitama. È stato veramente inaspettato.

Come sarà gareggiare in questo mondiale Milano?

ANNA: Da una parte è il coronamento perfetto di una stagione così importante. Pattinare in casa è un onore, una meraviglia: sai che ci sono tante persone che ti vogliono bene, che avrai la tua curva di tifosi.

Dall’altra parte si fa più fatica a mantenere concentrazione e calma necessarie. La difficoltà sta proprio nel riuscire a schermarsi e a trattarla come una gara normale.

LUCA: Io spero che la gente impazzisca, quando avremo finito il nostro programma. Lavoro per pattinare alla grande e mi auguro di riuscire a fare la mia migliore performance. Se non accadrà, spero comunque che il pubblico si diverta alla fine. Mi piacerebbe risentire quello che ho sentito a Helsinki: vorrei che la gente di alzasse in piedi e facesse venire a me i brividi. Un finale grandioso.

VALENTINA MARCHEI - ONDREJ HOTAREK How did you end up in a pair?

MARCHEI: By chance. I competed in the Olympics as single skater, and I wanted to compete in two more editions after that. Ondrej no longer had a partner and he became our coach Franca’s (Bianconi) assistant. We went to the summer training camp and he, who was assistant coach, helped me for the quality of my jumps. Then, I asked him to teach me two or three things so that we could perform as singles and as a pair in figure skating shows. Things went so well that I asked him to try it. At first, he said no, but he quickly changed his mind.

We’ve always tried to push ourselves further, knowing that we started late and that we had to adapt to completely different things.

HOTAREK: I didn’t have any intention to continue for four more years, but now, I’m here with a different partner, in a completely different situation. I think it was worth it. When you start so late, you need to rush to achieve that kind of feeling for a couple. We are working on that every day, but we are competing against pairs who have been working together for years. We are spending countless hours practicing together. We need to chase the others.

Ondrej, tell us a good and a bad thing about Valentina.

The good and, at the same time, bad thing about Valentina is her independence and her will to do everything by herself both on and off the ice. Even during practice, I need to remind her that we are in this together. She works alone a lot. This characteristic of hers is hard to change, it’s her nature and, after all, I don’t want to put obstacles in her way.

Valentina, tell us a good and a bad thing about Ondrej.

A bad thing is that, when he’s tired, he always wants to do more. He tends to frustration. In those moments, I would like to get closer to him but he pushes me away. The good thing is that he is an extremely fond person, he’s always there when you are sad and you can trust him no matter what. If somebody were to ask me to tell the name of a person who changed my life, I would tell his name. Ondrej made me grow as a woman and as an athlete because he made me more patient.

I was like a volcano, but now I am more thoughtful. And it helps me relax in my everyday life and in dealing with other people. I would call it a healthy empathy.

The World Championships in Milan are coming. How do you feel about it?

MARCHEI: I started this Olympic year at the Assago Forum and we will close it there. It is important to end a season at home in front of friends and relatives, in front of the Italian crowd which is not used to this kind of events. This is a good chance to raise interest among Italians towards this sport. I would also like to thank all those who have always come and see us. Once you see this sport live, you fall in love with it, it is not like watching it on TV. HOTAREK: I took part in one of my first World Championships in Italy, Turin 2010. I was touched by that experience because in the final part of the program the crowd was clapping so loud to keep the rhythm that I could barely hear the music. I liked that very much and I hope that it will happen again in Milan. Italy is the home of my sports adventures. The World Championships will be a way to thank all those who supported us throughout these years. A big party is coming to Milan!

Come è nata la vostra coppia?

MARCHEI: Per caso. Io arrivavo dall’Olimpiade da singola, ne avrei volute fare altre due dopo quella. Ondrej era diventato assistente di quella che poi è diventata nostra allenatrice, Franca Bianconi. Siamo andati in raduno estivo e lui, che era assistente, mi faceva da spalla per la qualità dei salti, allora gli ho detto di insegnarmi due o tre cose così ci saremmo potuti vendere sia come singoli sia come coppia per gli spettacoli. Le cose hanno funzionato talmente bene che gli ho proposto di lanciarci in questa cosa. Lui, inizialmente, ha detto no, ma poi si è convinto in fretta. Abbiamo sempre tentato di spingerci oltre, consapevoli del fatto che abbiamo iniziato tardi e che ci siamo dovuti adattare a cose completamente diverse.

HOTAREK: Io non avevo intenzione di continuare altri quattro anni.

Ora, mi trovo qui con una partner diversa, in una situazione completamente diversa, ma credo sia un’avventura che è valsa la pena di vivere. Quando inizi così tardi, devi rincorrere il feeling di coppia. Noi ci lavoriamo tutti i giorni e ci confrontiamo con coppie che lavorano insieme da molti anni. Il tempo che si passa in allenamento insieme è infinito. È sempre una rincorsa.

Ondrej, svelaci un pregio e un difetto di Valentina?

Il pregio e, al tempo stesso, il difetto è la sua indipendenza e la voglia di fare tutto da sola sia sul ghiaccio sia fuori. Anche in allenamento io devo ricordarle che dobbiamo fare le cose insieme e le cose stanno migliorando. È la sua natura e, comunque, cerchiamo di non ostacolarla troppo.

Valentina, svelaci un pregio e un difetto di Ondrej?

Il suo difetto è che, quando è stanco, pretende di più da se stesso. Tende ad andare verso la frustrazione. In quei momenti vorresti entrare nella sua bolla, ma non ti fa entrare. Il suo pregio è il fatto di essere una persona estremamente affettuosa e fidata: ti dà sempre la spalla su cui piangere. Se mi dovessero chiedere il nome di una persona che mi ha cambiato la vita, direi il suo. Ondrej mi ha fatta crescere come donna e come atleta perché mi ha fatto diventare molto più paziente. Io ero un vulcano, adesso sono molto più riflessiva. Questo mi aiuta molto a staccare nella vita di tutti i giorni e nei rapporti interpersonali. È un sano rapporto di empatia.

Adesso arrivano i Mondiali a Milano. Come vi sentite?

MARCHEI: Io ho iniziato al Forum di Assago e lì concluderemo questo anno olimpico, di fronte al pubblico italiano che non è abituato ad assistere a eventi come questi. È importante finire una stagione a casa di fronte a tutti gli amici e ai parenti ed è una buona occasione per far appassionare il pubblico italiano a questo sport. Una volta che vedi questo sport dal vivo te ne innamori, non è come vederlo in TV. HOTAREK: Uno dei miei primi Mondiali l’ho fatto a Torino nel 2010. Mi sono commosso perché nell’ultima parte del programma il pubblico ha battuto le mani così forte per tenere il ritmo che la musica quasi non si sentiva più. È stata una cosa che mi è piaciuta tantissimo e vorrei che questa cosa si ripetesse a Milano. Anche per questo abbiamo scelto due brani italiani per libero e short. Tutte le mie avventure sportive le ho fatte in Italia. I Mondiali saranno, quindi, un modo per ringraziare tutti coloro che ci hanno sostenuto in questi anni. Milano sarà una grande festa!

The Perfect Armony L’Armonia Perfetta CHARLENE GUIGNARD MARCO FABBRI

Marco Fabbri and Charlene Guignard dance together, always, on ice and in everyday life. Marco, born in 1988 in Milan, started skating at 7, with the dream of becoming an ice hockey player. One year younger than him, Charlene started skating when she was only 3, to chase after her two brothers. After several experiences, they teamed up as an ice dancing pair thanks to the Internet - on a website where to find your best match around the world. “Marco found me on this website” - tells Charlene “we have been lucky”. Since the very beginning, they have had a chemistry, which also got increased off rink. A union being led by Marco in sports. “I am the most proactive of us - said Fabbri himself - the one who makes the decisions”. “Marco is much more likely to act out than I am - says Charlene - I try to reassure him and get the balance right”.

The chemistry between them is crystal-clear even when they discuss how they deal with their sporting activity. “Everything in dancing must be perfect, and we try to work it out as a whole. You need to realize what dreams may come true and what, at least at the moment, is just a dream. Next year, we would like to win some medals at the World Cup”.

Meanwhile, they are clearly ready to enjoy the World Championships being held on their ice rink because Marco and Charlene have always been training at the Forum. “It will be very exciting, and we know the audience will cheer us up a lot”, explained Charlene. An extra emotion for Marco, who recalls: “The first big competition I saw in my life, when I was ten, was the European Championship held here at the Forum. That’s where the dream has come from”.

Marco Fabbri e Charlene Guignard danzano, sia sul ghiaccio sia nella vita di tutti i giorni, sempre insieme. Marco, milanese classe 1988, ha iniziato a sette anni con il sogno di giocare a hockey. Charlene, di un anno più giovane, ha iniziato a pattinare a 3 anni seguendo i suoi fratelli. Dopo diverse esperienze la loro coppia sul ghiaccio è nata grazie a internet. “Marco mi ha trovato su un sito creato per trovare il proprio partner sportivo in giro per il mondo - spiega Charlene - siamo stati fortunati”. Il feeling è nato fin dal primo momento ed è cresciuto anche fuori dalla pista. Un connubio che nello sport è trascinato da Marco: “Io sono quello più propositivo, quello che prende le decisioni”.

“Marco esteriorizza molto di più di me - racconta Charlene - io cerco di tranquillizzarlo e cerco di bilanciare”. Un’intesa totale che si intuisce anche quando parlano di come affrontano la loro attività sportiva.

“Nella danza tutto deve essere perfetto e noi cerchiamo di lavorare sull’insieme. Bisogna scindere i sogni realizzabili da quelli che, almeno al momento, son irrealizzabili. L’anno prossimo ci piacerebbe riuscire a conquistare qualche podio di Coppa del Mondo”.

Nel frattempo sono pronti a godersi i Campionati del Mondo che si disputano sul loro ghiaccio, visto che Marco e Charlene si allenano da sempre proprio al Forum. “Sarà molto emozionante e sappiamo che il pubblico ci caricherà molto” ha spiegato Charlene. Un’emozione in più per Marco che ricorda: “La prima grande gara che ho visto in vita mia, a dieci anni, è stato il campionato europeo qui al Forum. In quel momento è nato un sogno da inseguire.”

Blue Simphony Sinfonia Azzurra NICOLE DELLA MONICA MATTEO GUARISE Matteo Guarise and Nicole Della Monica started skating almost by chance. Born in Rimini in 1988, he won the World Artistic Roller Skating World Championships when he was 20, paired with Sara Venerucci. Then he started modeling before trying ice skating.

Born in Trescore Balneario in 1989, she began to skate at six but decided to quit after the Vancouver Olympics. After a year off for both, a phone call put them back together on ice and in a few weeks got them to join the Italian Championships and, a few months later, the World Championships as well, although the beginning was not easy. Matteo is a perfectionist. “He is never fully satisfied with what we do - Nicole says - and would like everything to be perfect right away.

What we want is to be able to have the quality we reach when training.” A work that starts from far away, off rink: “The harmony between us allows us to portray the emotions of those looking at us. We are lucky, because we have had such a harmony since the very first day.”

Despite their hard and long work in Russia, they love performing in Japan, especially Nicole: “I really love Japanese culture. The audience is very polite and supports each and every athlete”. As they train in Sesto San Giovanni in Milan, joining a World Championship held in the city is something special to them. “Performing in Milan is a great thing, as everyone here can come and see us. We will have the support of our people, the one we missed in the past, especially in Boston, where fans supported their own favorites. This year, we want to benefit from the energy our fans will give us”. Each of them keeps a little secret on how to get thrilled and fired up for the Forum event. “I like cooking - Nicole said - It distracts and relax me a lot. I also like drawing and studying foreign languages”. Matteo, on the other hand, has taken up a hobby linked to his origins. “I love sport fishing. I get immersed in silence and solitude, and I don’t need to explain anything to anybody. From time to time, it allows me to take a break”. Waiting for the call to the Forum rink.

Matteo Guarise e Nicole Della Monica hanno iniziato a pattinare quasi per caso. Matteo, nato a Rimini nel 1988, a 20 anni è stato campione del Mondo di Pattinaggio artistico a rotelle in coppia con Sara Venerucci. Prima di passare al pattinaggio su ghiaccio si è dedicato per un po’ alla carriera di modello. Lei, nata a Trescore Balneario nel 1989, ha iniziato a sei anni a pattinare, ma aveva deciso di smettere dopo le Olimpiadi di Vancouver. Dopo un anno di stop per entrambi, una telefonata li ha messi insieme sul ghiaccio e li ha portati in poche settimane a partecipare ai Campionati Italiani e, pochi mesi dopo ai Mondiali anche se l’avvio non è stato facile.

Matteo è un perfezionista. “Non è mai totalmente soddisfatto di quello che facciamo - racconta Nicole - e vorrebbe che fosse tutto perfetto da subito. Vogliamo raggiungere anche in gara la qualità che abbiamo in allenamento”. Un lavoro che parte da lontano, da fuori dalla pista: “L’armonia che abbiamo tra di noi ci permette di trasmettere le emozioni di chi ci guarda. Siamo fortunati perché è una sintonia che abbiamo avuto fin dal primo giorno”. Dopo aver lavorato a lungo in Russia, è comunque in Giappone che amano esibirsi, soprattutto Nicole: “Mi piace tantissimo la cultura giapponese. Il pubblico è molto educato e supporta tutti gli atleti”.

Allenandosi a Sesto San Giovanni fare un Mondiale a Milano è qualcosa di speciale. “Essere a Milano è una cosa fantastica perché tutti possono venire a vederci. Abbiamo il tifo di casa nostra che ci è mancato in passato, soprattutto a Boston dove i tifosi sostenevano i propri beniamini.

Quest’anno vogliamo sfruttare l’energia che ci daranno i nostri tifosi”.

Per arrivare carichi all’appuntamento del Forum hanno entrambi un piccolo segreto. “A me piace cucinare - ha spiegato Nicole - mi rilassa molto. Mi piace anche disegnare e studiare le lingue straniere”.

Matteo, invece, sfrutta un hobby legato alle sue origini: “Mi piace la pesca sportiva. Mi immergo nel silenzio e nella solitudine senza dover rendere conto a nessuno. Mi permette di staccare la spina ogni tanto”.

In attesa di scendere sul ghiaccio del Forum.

ELISABETTA LECCARDI Born in Segrate on November 26, 2001, Elisabetta Leccardi is getting ready to live her First World Championships on the rink at the Forum di Assago. It is a reward for the efforts made in the season that led her just where she is now. “It was my goal since the very beginning of the season. I am happy I managed to achieve it”, said Elisabetta, who started skating at 5, when she saw her brother playing ice hockey on skates. Two years later, she was in her first competition. A path started almost by chance, but with the clear goal of evoking emotions. She herself told us why. “Carolina Kostner has always been my idol. She is pure art. She touches me whenever I see her performing. I am trying to reach that level, though the way to it may be long and hard. Still, I am trying to achieve this”. An idol that became her teammate and still is a role model for Leccardi, who is well aware of what she needs to do.

“I need to improve the way I deal with competitions, I mean, the emotions I feel before competitions. You know, at times this may get me troubles. I’d like to be more emotional when I’m skating”. This is just because she sees skating as an art. A vision she pursues also off rink, when Elisabetta loves to invent modern dance choreographies and teach them to the young students at the Agorà. She is now waiting to perform on the Forum rink, where “there will be so many people, there will be so many friends who will come and see me. We’re having a lot of supporters, and I am always happy with this, as it boosts me up”.

MATTEO RIZZO

Matteo Rizzo was born in Rome on September 5, 1998. He swiftly got his figure skates on. “It was when I was around 4, to stay close to my parents, both figure-skating coaches”. And then, the first competition, when I was only 8. Spending so much time on ice as a child helped him build up a fluid, smooth and fast way figure skating. A merit that risks being weakened by what Matteo calls his biggest flaw during competitions.

“I tend to be too much of a calculating person when I am on the rink, instead of letting me go and getting thrilled by my performance. I always try to keep calm and get every move I make under control, and I don’t allow emotions to come through”. Raised with the myth of Evgeni Plushenko, Matteo is very tied to the career of Javier Fernandez, the Spanish skater who won two World Championships gold medals. “I’ve known him since he was in his first international competitions. I really admire his career.

I find that he is now my first source of inspiration”. Figure skating has always been part of his life, so much so that he worked on a project related to sports even for his degree in computer science. “I made a web application to record every activity of athletes during the day, both on and off the rink - Matteo said - All data are then saved in a database, for a coach to monitor athletes, and give indications related to their conditions”.

After the debut at the World Championships in Helsinki, his success at the last Italian championships is the most beautiful memory for him, as he feels “it’s the first step towards being great”.

After the thrill for his first disputed World Championship, there it comes a competition for him to play in his home-country. “It’s going to be something special. Usually, the first time you join a competition, you never fully realize what is going on. The second time, things get a little clearer. However, in this case, the fact is that the competition will be held in Italy. It will be a crazy emotion.”

Matteo Rizzo è nato a Roma il 5 settembre 1998 e ha messo in fretta i pattini ai piedi. “A circa 4 anni per stare vicino ai miei genitori che sono entrambi insegnanti di danza su ghiaccio”. La prima gara, poi, è arrivata a soli 8 anni. Il passare tanto tempo sul ghiaccio fin da piccolo gli ha dato fluidità, scorrevolezza e velocità nel modo di pattinare. Un pregio che rischia di essere depotenziato da quello che Matteo definisce il suo principale difetto in gara. “Tendo a essere un po’ troppo calcolatore quando sono in pista invece di lasciarmi andare e farmi travolgere dalla prestazione. Cerco sempre di mantenere la calma e di tenere sotto controllo tutti i punti che sto facendo e non lascio spazio all’emozione”.

Cresciuto nel mito di Evgeni Plushenko, Matteo è molto legato al percorso di Javier Fernandez, lo spagnolo vincitore di due ori Mondiali: “Lo conosco da quando era alle prime gare internazionali.

Ammiro molto il suo percorso. Trovo che ora sia lui la mia prima fonte di ispirazione”. Il pattinaggio è sempre presente nella sua vita tanto che anche in occasione del diploma in informatica ha realizzato un progetto legato allo sport. “Ho fatto una web application che serve per registrare tutto quello che fa un atleta nell’arco della giornata, in pista e fuori - ha spiegato Matteo - tutti i dati vengono salvati in un database che serve all’allenatore per monitorare l’atleta e dare indicazioni collegate alle condizioni”. Dopo l’esordio ai Mondiali di Helsinki, il successo agli ultimi campionati italiani è il ricordo più bello perché “è il primo passo per poter diventare grandi”.

Ora arriva l’emozione da giocarsi in casa. “Sarà una cosa molto particolare. In genere alla prima partecipazione non realizzi al massimo quello che accade. Alla seconda le cose diventano un po’ più chiare. In questo caso, però, entra in gioco la variabile che è in Italia. Sarà pazzesco.”

Nata a Segrate il 26 novembre 2001, Elisabetta Leccardi si prepara a vivere il suo Primo Campionato Mondiale sulla pista del Forum di Assago. Un premio alla buona stagione fatta proprio per questo.

“Era l’obiettivo che avevo a inizio stagione. Sono contenta perché l’ho raggiunto” ha raccontato la stessa Elisabetta che ha iniziato a pattinare all’età di 5 anni dopo aver visto il fratello sui pattini per giocare a hockey. Dopo due anni è arrivata la prima gara. Un cammino iniziato quasi per caso, ma con un obiettivo ben preciso: regalare emozioni. Il perché lo ha spiegato lei stessa. “Carolina Kostner è da sempre il mio idolo. Lei è arte. Riesce a emozionarmi sempre quando la guardo. Io sto cercando di raggiungere quel livello anche se la strada è ancora lunga e difficile, ma ci sto provando”. Un idolo che diventa compagna di squadra e che continua a essere un punto di riferimento per la Leccardi che ha ben chiaro quello che deve fare. “Devo migliorare nella gestione della gara, sulle emozioni che provo prima delle gare perché a volte mi creano qualche problema. Mi piacerebbe trasmettere più emozioni quando pattino”. Proprio perché per lei il pattinaggio è arte.

Una visione che prosegue anche fuori dalla pista quando Elisabetta ama inventarsi coreografie di danza moderna e insegnarle alle piccole allieve dell’Agorà. In attesa di esibirsi sul ghiaccio del Forum dove “ci sarà tanta gente, ci saranno tanti amici che mi verrano a vedere. Ci sarà tanto tifo e questo mi piace sempre, mi da tanta carica”.

Jump Dictionary Dizionario dei Salti

There are six kinds of jumps currently counted as jump elements in ISU regulations. Three are edge jumps — the Salchow, loop, and Axel — and three are toe jumps which use the toe picks on the front of the blade — the toe loop, flip, and Lutz. Let’s check them out with the Italian National champion Matteo Rizzo.

TOE LOOP The toe loop was invented in the 1920s by Bruce Mapes, an American professional show skater. Toe loops can be done as singles (one revolution is completed in the air), doubles, triples, and even quadruples.

The toe loop jump is a toe jump that takes off from a back outside edge and lands on the same back outside edge (in other words, a toe-pick assisted loop jump, although the mechanics of the two jumps are very different). This is sometimes known in Europe as a cherry flip. Toe loops can be done immediately after other jumps in combinations.

As solo jumps, they are most commonly entered from a three turn.

SALCHOW The Salchow jump, named after its originator Ulrich Salchow, is an edge jump. It takes off from a back inside edge and lands on the back outside edge of the opposite foot.

FLIP The flip jump is a toe jump that takes off from a back Il Flip è un salto puntato, parte dal filo sinistro interno inside edge and lands on the back outside edge of the indietro e punta con il piede destro. opposite foot.

LUTZ LOOP (RITTBERGER) The loop jump is another edge jump, launched from the back outside edge and landing on the same back outside edge. It is also known in Europe as the Rittberger after its inventor, Werner Rittberger. Loops can be done immediately after other jumps in combinations.

Il Rittberger (o Loop) è il terzo salto nella gerarchia di difficoltà dei salti. Parte dal filo destro esterno indietro.

The Lutz jump, named after its originator Alois Lutz, is a toe jump that takes off from a back outside edge and lands on the back outside edge of the opposite foot.

The Lutz is a counter-rotated jump, meaning that the takeoff edge travels in a rotational direction opposite to which the skater rotates in the air and lands. Lutzes can often be identified by the long, backward diagonal glide preparation.

Il Lutz è un salto che agli spettatori non molto esperti di pattinaggio può sembrare identico al flip, ma non lo è. È molto più difficile da eseguire, perché parte dal filo sinistro esterno indietro. AXEL The Axel jump, named after its originator Axel Paulsen, is an edge jump launched on the forward outside edge and landed on the back outside edge of the opposite foot.

Because it has a forward takeoff but lands backwards, an Axel actually has half an extra rotation (i.e. a single Axel is 1.5 revolutions, a double is 2.5 revolutions, a triple is 3.5 revolutions, etc.).

L’Axel è il salto più difficile in assoluto, perché contiene un mezzo giro in più rispetto ad altri salti. A questa difficoltà si aggiunge quella psicologica: l’axel parte dal filo sinistro esterno avanti ed il pattinatore trova un blocco psicologico perché ha una sensazione di “buttarsi nel vuoto”. L’axel è un salto non puntato ed è stato inventato da un pattinatore di velocità di nome Axel Paulsen.

The spirals of the knot also clearly recall the tracks left from ice skates during a spin, as well as the invisible tracks of athlete’s graceful gestures while they break the air.

The development of the knot inside the circle recalls a world of light blue ice on which the athlete is skating: it is red like the passion of fire that fuels his desire of victory. Red like Ferrari, red like the Ducati, colours that are symbol of sport in Italy.

Passion, grace, beauty and power are intrinsic to figure skating as well as to the Italian culture, this is the reason why linking this symbols it appeared to be the best path in order to represent an event that has an international flavor like this.

L’idea del logo per i Campionati del Mondo di Figura trae ispirazione dai cosiddetti nodi vinciani. Si tratta di un motivo decorativo molto compesso che Leonardo da Vinci, un artista fondamentale per Milano e per l’Italia, utilizzava in moltissimi suoi dipinti. Le volute del nodo inoltre ricordano nettamente le tracce lasciate dai pattini sul ghiaccio durante una trottola, così come le tracce invisibili dei gesti aggraziati dell’atleta mentre fende l’aria. Lo sviluppo del nodo nel cerchio riporta a un mondo di ghiaccio azzurro su cui pattina l’atleta: è rosso come il fuoco della passione che alimenta la sua voglia di vincere. Rosso come la Ferrari, rosso come la Ducati, colori simbolo dell’Italia nello sport.

Passione, grazia, bellezza e potenza sono intrinsechi al pattinaggio di figura così come alla cultura italiana, per questo associare questi simboli è apparso come il percorso migliore per rappresentare una manifestazione di respiro internazionale come questa.
