Literature review – Urban Metabolism, waste management, consumerism and minimalism in Australia

ABSTRACT Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to review the literature of Urban Metabolism, Waste Management, Consumerism and Minimalism aiming to develop a better understanding of those topics as theoretical background for future studies on HDR (High Degree for Research) at Curtin University. Design/methodology/approach – A comparison within the Cities of Perth, Stirling and Armadale was developed throughout data collected with the Waste Department of each city, also with housing information given by real state and zoning maps provided by the Cities. Findings – The data shown a correlation among location of neighbour, purchasing power and quantity of waste produced. Originality/values – Data presented was gather throughout a survey developed with the Waste Management of the Perth cities and real state consultation.
