397. “Rocky” Poster Development Art. (United Artists, c.1976) Original development artwork for a promotional poster for the 1976 feature film, “Rocky”. This development artwork was created by taking a high-quality photo of Sylvester Stallone and adhering it to art board. Stallone’s hair is hand-trimmed so that it rests on top of the “Rocky” text at the top. The copyright and other texts at the bottom of the photo are hand-trimmed and applied. Over the photo, a vellum sheet is hinged that has multiple hand-written production notes for the poster. The image size is 17”x11” while the overall board measures 26”x20”. The condition is very good with minor wear from production use and the letters “F.P.O.” written on the photo in red ink. The artwork has a thin vellum sheet attached to it with a hand-drawn representation of the inner artwork. $500-$700

399. “Rocky” Cardstock Poster. (United Artists, c.1976) A very rare 40”x30” theatrical release movie poster for the original “Rocky”. Lithographically printed on cardstock and issued by the National Screen Service, this original poster is in very god condition with minor creasing and scuffs to the poster, and some edge-wear. The reverse of the poster has some yellowing and a black smudged area. $300-$500

398. “Rocky” Production Notes & Stallone Biography. (United Artists, 1976) A pair of typed production information packets prepared by United Artists prior to the theatrical release of their feature film “Rocky”. These packets were created to provide information on the production before its release and are titled “Rocky Production Notes” and “Sylvester Stallone Shows How to Become a Star-- Write Your Own Movie Script!”. These packets are dated 9-15-76 and 9-3-76 respectively, and provide a wealth of information on the cast, crew, and story, of what would go on to become one of the most iconic films of the generation. Both packets measure 11”x8.5” and are in very good condition with little wear. $100-$200

400. “Rocky” Photostatic Logo Development Art. (United Artists, 1976) A photostatically printed logo for the feature film “Rocky” with hand-inked alterations to the lettering. This developmental artwork was hand-trimmed and applied to an art board backing with some hand-written production notes in the bottom corners of the board. The photostat has a vellum sheet hinged over the top with the hand-written note “Reduce to 96%. The touched-up logo has an image size of 5”x12.5” on its 12.25”x17.25” board backing, and the condition is very good with some expected minor wear from use. $100-$200
