A Large English Underglaze Blue Delftware Dish with Figures, London, Circa 1770. The underglaze blue dish depicts a male and female figures by a rock, the female pointing to a nearby ruin, a tree with sponged foliage and birds flying overhead. Diameter: 13 3/4 inches Reference: London Delftware, Frank Britton, Page 161, #158 for illustration of a plate with the same design . The author discusses the discovery of the print source for this design...originally drawn by Francois de Cuvillies, who died in 1768, study of the large volume of his works in the Victoria and Albert Museum indicated that they were almost certainly engraved by Lespilliez posthumously c. 1770 (Ref: VM98170)

A English Delftware Underglaze Blue Deep Basin, Probably Lambeth, London, Circa 1740. The deep basin painted with a Chinoiserie scene of two islands in a riverscape. Chinoiserie-styled figures, trees and rocks are found in the rim-to-rim decoration, with lines of clouds and flocks of birds above. The underside decorated with X's and double dashes. This basin form is exceptionally rare. Diameter: Height: 10 inches x 2 inches. Reference: Delftware in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Michael Archer. Page 254, Figure 30. A Shallow Bowl - probably London (Lambeth) mid-eighteenth century. Dimensions of the comparative piece are 8 11/16 inches x 2 inches. This rare shallow basin (or bowl) form is attributed to Lambeth, London by Archer in his publication through the provenance of a similarly decorated plate found in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum. A Large London Delftware Chinoiserie Dish, Circa 1760-80. The large dish with a well decorated central well painted with a Chinese figure holding a vase on his lap while he leans against a fence with in the background the outlines of a stylized building. The border with sparse scattered flower heads and hanging flowers. An English Large Delftware Dish Decorated with a Cockerel, Probably London, Circa 1730. The polychrome dish with stylized decoration of a cockerel in the centre surrounded by bands of green and yellow with alternating green and yellow leaves on the border. A Pair of English Underglaze Blue Delftware Plates decorated with Lotus, Probably London, Circa 1760. The pair of plates are decorated in underglaze blue with the central well painted with a lotus plant growing in a pond surrounded by trees and plants. The border is ornately decorated with alternating circular diaper and fence work. Diameter: 9 inches.

The light underglaze blue dish depicts a crested heron standing on one leg in the centre of the dish on a grassy mound with flowering plants to either side. The border with four flowering stems with stylized insects between. A Large English Delftware Punch Bowl, London or Bristol, Circa 1740-50 The bowl is fully decorated in blue and white with stylized flowers and geometrical motifs. The interior with a large blue and white central floral composition with repeating stylized flower head and leaves on the upper rim. In the past, these bowls were thought of as Dutch, however today they are considered more likely to be English. The decoration is frequently similar at this time on Dutch and English pieces due to the cross-over of workmen between the two countries. Diameter: 13 3/4 inches x Height: 7 inches .

A Large London Delftware Dish, Circa 1760 The dish painted in pale colours of green, yellow manganese and blue depicts a large urn filled with blue flowers. A shallow bowl sits behind also with a large similar flower. The border with four designs, two of a flower in a vase and the other two of a small flower. Diameter: 13 1/4 inches (Ref: VM981

LIVERPOOL FACTORIES A English Delftware Underglaze Blue Chinoiserie Dish, Probably Liverpool, Circa 1760. The dish depicts two Chinese ladies under a parasol in a fenced garden with a figure above them standing on a cloud holding a baby. The rim has alternating patterns of fences and flowers. Diameter: 12 inches.

Reference: English Delftware in the Bristol Collection, Frank Britton, Page 196, #12.48. In the entry for 12.47, a polychrome example, the author writes, “The subject is explained by W.H. Edmunds in Pointers and clues to the Subjects of Chinese & Japanese Art (London 1934). Yao, last but one of the Rulers of China ascended the throne in 2356 BC and reigned for ninety eight years! He debarred his unworthy son from heirship and appointed Shun, a Paragon of Filial Piety, to succeed, giving him his two daughters in marriage. Shun is said to have been nursed as a child by the Dragon Queen of Long Hou�.

A Large English Polychrome Delftware Dish, Bristol, Circa 1740-50. The large dish is painted in the central well with a Chinoiserie design of rockwork and an ornate tall Chinese building with a bird on a branch and zig-zag fencing below. The border with an alternating red and blue diaper ground and blue-bordered cartouches with flowering plants.

A Large English Underglaze Blue and Manganese Delftware Dish, Probably Bristol, Circa 1760-70. The dish is painted with an underglaze blue and a manganese cracked ice ground on the border. The central well depicts a Chinese building under a weeping tree. The border with the cracked ice ground separating four blue rimmed cartouches of buildings and a weeping tree. Diameter: 13 1/4 inches

A Pair of English Delftware Chinoiserie Plates, Bristol, Probably Temple Back Factory, Circa 1760 The pair of plates depict an oriental lady holding a fan beneath a tree with a butterfly off to her left. The border a band of trellis diaper alternating with four large reserves holding stylized branches.

A Large English Delftware Dish Decorated with Birds, Bristol, Circa 1740. The polychrome dish is painted with predominately iron-red and some green and blue depicting two birds in a stylized garden. The border a scrolling leafy band in iron-red with some green and blue leaves. Diameter: 13 1/4 inches.

A Large English Delftware Dish Decorated with a Peacock, Bristol Circa 1760 The polychrome dish is decorated with a large peacock perched on a blue rockwork from which grows a large flowing tree with insects flying to either side. The border with alternating oval panels of flower heads and orange diaper. A Large English Delftware Dish decorated with a Basket of Flowers Bristol, Circa 1730-50. The large dish with a stylized Chinese hanging basket of flowers with flying insects around within a distinctive dark blue diamond border. The rim with stylized leaves and flowers predominately in green with iron-red and blue. Diameter: 13 1/4 inches. A Pair of English Delftware Dishes with Distinctive Orange Diaper, Bristol, Circa 1740-60. The pair of dishes are painted underglaze colours with a parrot watching a n insect perched upon a flowering tree within a circular roundel which is surrounded by two close blue bands and an outer band with a distinctive three cube building alternating with swirls. The rim with blue bordered oval cartouches of plants growing out of rockwork on an orange diaper ground.

An English Delftware Underglaze Blue Dish with Swan, Possibly Bristol, Circa 1740 The underglaze blue dish is painted in the central well within a circular roundel with a swan sitting on water and a peacock up in a nearby tree. The roundel is banded by a distinctive castellated design. The border has alternating panels of a stylized plant and a flowerhead within diaper.

A Pair of English Delftware Polychrome Chinoiserie Plates Decorated with Parrot, Lambeth High Street, Circa 1760. The plates decorated in bright colours of yellow, red, blue and green depict a parrot perched on a rockwork outcrop surrounded by foliage. Diameter: 8 3/4 inches

A Large English Delftware Adam & Eve Dish, The Temptation, Probably Bristol (Redcliff Back), Circa 1745-55. The charger is decorated in polychrome with a sponged blue border and a central scene of Adam and Eve with the serpent entwined around a tree with an apple in its mouth. Diameter: 13 inches Provenance: W.L. Little Collection, #14. Reference: Delftware at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Michael Archer, Page 27, #A: 43, where the design is called The Temptation. Archer writes that....�This charger which belongs to a small group, introduces a new composition ... The same treatment of the scene appears on two dated objects. The first, a plaque, has the date 1751 and the other a dish of conventional mid-century form with the inscription John Archer/1755.� (Ref: VM98133)

An English Delftware Underglaze Blue Dish decorated with unusual Buildings, Probably Bristol, Circa 1740. The dish is decorated in underglaze blue outline and wash with a rim to rim scene of a grouping of buildings around a small treetopped hill with ships off to the left side and groupings of birds above. In the foreground a fence and tree stumps. WINCANTON FACTORY An English Delftware Plate in the Minosa Pattern, Probably Wincanton, Circa 1740 The underglaze blue plate has a central plant within a triple circular panel with three wild plants growing out to the rim with stylized insects in between. A Pair of Dutch Delft Underglaze Blue Small Dishes, Late 18th century. The small deep dishes are painted in a dark underglaze blue with stylized plants and rocks with a band of scattered leaves between two blue bands at the rim. Diameter: 6 1/4 inches (Ref: VM98150)

A Dutch Delft Tromp L'oeil Tureen and Cover, Circa 1800. The tureen in the form of a gourd rests upon a large leaf. The tureen is colored green with the cover yellow. The finial in the form of flower buds. (Ref: NY04592)

A Massive Dutch Delft Imari Vase & Cover, Circa 1870 The massive tin-glazed earthenware vase is of hexagonal reeded form decorated in an Imari palette with each panel decorated with alternating scenes of birds amongst trees and rockwork and panels of plants separated with stylized leaf shaped designs. The cover is surmounted with a large lion on its hind legs holding a shaped shield.

A Pair of Dutch Tin-glazed Earthenware Models of a Dog & Cat, Tichelaar Brothers, Makkum, Holland. Circa 1870-80 The charming figures sit on their haunches on a raised octagonal raised base with a green grassy top with the sides with a yellow ground highlighted in red depicting leafy scrolls. Each figure is painted in manganese with their heads slightly turned and around each neck is a collar in similar colouration to the base. The dog has a moulded padlock hanging from the collar. Height: 7 inches. Mark: They are marked with 2 crossed T's, their mark from ca. 1870-80. (The brothers Tichelaar - 2 crossed T's)

Makkum is a village in Friesland in the Netherlands with an over 400 year tradition of making pottery. (Ref: NY7453)

A Dutch Delft Pillow form Fluted Dish, Circa 1680. The circular small dish has a raised circular center then an inner border of fluted design with the other rim also fluted with twenty nine individual flutes each painted with a single flower-head.
