2024/25 SEASON

Welcome to the VSO’s bold 2024/25 Season. Our world needs music now more than ever, and we invite you to experience the monumental beauty and emotional power of the orchestra. For the past 106 years, the VSO has brought communities together across the Lower Mainland to share exquisite musical experiences and celebrate some of the most gifted artists from around the world.
This season, I am excited to share some of the greatest masterworks of the past alongside groundbreaking premieres and works by today’s most innovative composers. Join me as we dive into music both familiar and unexpected. From Symphonic Cinema’s film accompaniment to Stravinsky’s The Firebird, Beethoven’s joyful Ninth Symphony, and Richard Strauss’ spectacular orchestral showcase, An Alpine Symphony, to premieres from some of the world’s most striking voices in contemporary music.
Special concerts promise unforgettable nights out and memories that you’ll cherish. I can’t wait to reunite with Lang Lang after our success together with the LA Phil. It’s also my pleasure to welcome Tan Dun to the podium to share his epic Buddha Passion in its Canadian premiere.
In the London Drugs VSO Pops series I’m thrilled to bring you high-energy concerts celebrating iconic artists like The Beatles, Paul Simon, Cole Porter, and Gene Kelly. This year’s Movie Nights with the VSO presented by TELUS showcase some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters such as Harry Potter, James Bond: Skyfall, Shrek 2 and more. Plus our VSO Kids Concerts offer the perfect introduction to the orchestra for the entire family. With over 150 concerts to choose from, there’s something for everyone at the VSO.
See you in the concert hall!
