

The Research Development office at Arizona State University supports the growth of research initiatives by helping faculty, staff, and leadership secure funding and develop high-impact proposals. Our office plays a strategic role in identifying funding opportunities, fostering collaborations, and managing competitive internal and external grants. Actionable Insight: Our goal is to develop products and services that offer actionable insights, providing a clear pathway for end users to implement RD’s strategic research. Capture Management gathers critical insights, cultivates relationships, and strategically positions ASU for success by planning competitive responses well before formal opportunities are announced. Our Capture Managers works proactively to ensure readiness and maximize our chances of securing key funding opportunities.

We support ASU by identifying and managing limited or restricted funding opportunities, internal programs, seed grants, and faculty nominations. Our Opportunity Management function tracks performance, disseminates opportunities, facilitates internal reviews to select the most competitive proposals, and continuously enhances the quality of our PIs’ submissions.
While managing every aspect of the proposal application process we apply industry best practices to ensure successful proposal submissions and facilitate collaboration across Knowledge Enterprise and other ASU divisions. RD’s Research Editing team offers free, confidential editing services to ASU faculty, research staff, and postdocs. Our editors thoroughly review grant proposals, journal manuscripts, and book proposals, and book chapters for logic, clarity, and coherence, ensuring that academic presentations are both persuasive and easy to understand. In addition to proofreading for grammar and typos, we ensure adherence to agency or journal submission guidelines, with the goal of making your research accessible and compelling to a wide range of reviewers.

Research Development collaborates with units across ASU to deliver a targeted series of events designed to equip ASU faculty, research staff, postdocs and students with the knowledge and resources needed to identify, pursue, and secure critical funding opportunities.
The Research Development office at ASU has been actively involved in key professional organizations such as the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP) and the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP). Our team regularly participates in these communities, helping to shape best practices and contribute to ASU’s growing reputation in research development. We also engage in the Limited Submission Community of Practice and the Proposal Graphics Community of Practice, supporting collaborative efforts to improve competitive submissions and proposal design. We plan to continue participating in these groups to stay aligned with evolving standards and practices in the field.
This year, the Research Development office has continued to make significant strides in supporting ASU’s researchers by providing key resources to enhance funding success and grow the research enterprise.
