Connecting Philanthropists with Physicians State-of-the-Art Imaging Technology for Urology Care After a transformational patient experience at Valley View, philanthropists Gregory and Judith Friedman sought a way to give back that would ultimately help better serve the healthcare needs of our community.

In 2015, Gregory Friedman was diagnosed with prostate cancer and in 2017 it was determined that the best course of treatment would be HDR Brachytherapy. At the time, Valley View did not have the capability to do HDR, nor did they have an MRI/ Ultrasound Fusion Biopsy machine (this machine enables precise biopsy of suspected lesions). Gregory's urologist, Brian Murphy, MD (now Valley View CEO) recommended he seek treatment away from home at a facility with more resources. Since 2017, there have been extraordinary advancements at Valley View, including the capability to perform HDR Brachytherapy. However, Valley View still did not have the critical Fusion Biopsy machine. Gregory and Judith saw an opportunity to help bring this state-of-the-art technology to our community. Now in the care of urologist Ash Kabra, MD, Gregory began discussions regarding ways to help patients, especially those with prostate concerns. Combining Dr. Kabra’s medical insight, Gregory’s knowledge of information technology and a major gift of more than $150,000, Gregory and Judith secured state-of-theart imaging technology for Valley View, as well as the processing power to handle it. “I am thrilled to finally say that we successfully launched our UroNav MRI/US Fusion Prostate Biopsy program here at Valley View!
