The only games played this weekend in the Nan Fung Group SEWIT Premiership are those of the Womens as the Mens league competition has paused for a month long hiatus, with a core of players unavailable due to international commitments. This week see ' s our Womens Premiership team taking on Kowloon in what will be a hotly contested match. Both teams have lost a core group of player from last season and are still trying to build their rhythm with a influx of new players this season. The Mens will play a mixed team of Premiership and Knights players as they spend the next couple of weeks taking part in the Challenge Cup HK Island Series and will play Sandy Bay and HKFC.
A tough weekend for the Women's Premiership side last week as they lost to HKFC across the park at Sports Road. HKFC snapped a long losing streak, with the side unable to beat Valley since 2007. A well drilled side with a number of new overseas import players from last season and this season proved to be a turning point for the HKFC team as they made a difference on the pitch.
With a number of notable faces missing from the Valley Women's side, HKFC took well advantage and kept the heat on throughout the game
Nevertheless the team played well in phases and were able to field some more newer faces to the team. Some strong performances coming in from Wing Yan Chan, Alexa and Anna Marsland in forward pack and Au Shuwan in the backline. Adrienne Garvey, a Valley stelwart had another stellar game encouraging her players and lifting the team's spirit throughout the game
With a long season ahead, and two more opportunities to play each team in this league, the Women's are here for the long run and will continue getting their processes and combinations right with small wins along the way each weekend

Last year I was a part of the flying Kukris team and we battled hard for the whole season and just barely made it to the finals against Sandy Bay. We showed up knowing we had to use the skills that our coach taught us in training and collectively as a team we managed to win by over 50 points I cherish that feeling and the moment we all came together as a team, gave it our all and came away with the win.
With the Hong Kong Sevens looming next weekend, we thought it was right to flashback to almost 12 months ago when Valley RFC had the great opportunity to play a rare XV’s game at the Hong Kong Stadium.
With both our Mens and Womens Premiership teams taking on HKFC and the Womens coming away with the win, the stadium proved for a fitting venue for a league game. Let's hope for more in the future!
