ALEXIS ROLMAE CREAYLA hey hey everyone! I hope your summer break is going well, spend every last minute of it— since we will be returning back to school. I know a bunch of people whos plans got cancelled due to the pandemic, i know my plans got cancelled and i've pushed aside, but we're all creative in our own ways and found something else to do.

i can’t believe is coming in so fast. I mean, I was expecting is to have Online classes BUT I have mix feelings for it. I am indeed excited though don’t get me wrong, I just don’t know what to expect. Indeed, school is like life, you don’t know what will happen but surely it’s fun..sometimes..

since I am a junior now (yay, CHEER FOR ME!) I am learning how to drive and starting to look into colleges, oh how scary! I am scared for college, my dream job is to be a pharmacist or a nurse. I just want to make my parents proud and help them later on in life. Yknow , the basic things!

That’s all folks. Let’s hope this school is will be nice to us all! I hope you all enjoy your month of August! Stay safe and WEAR A MASK!

WONKYUNG LEE During the last two weeks of July, our administration board went on a break from Key Club activities. This break was very well-needed personally, because I have been needing time to take care of myself. Although I have been busy with academic responsibilities during quarantine, I still wanted to take some downtime for myself. I mainly decided to take upon a new hobby of baking. My father, a diabetic, was told to eat gluten-free, but he has been craving desserts. My mother and I went on a hunt for dessert alternatives for the whole family to enjoy, and we found multiple. As of now, I baked glutenfree brownies and cookies, which turned out great. I also established family time by incorporating monthly picnics to Kyle Canyon. Everything was great about the canyon: the weather, the socially-distanced picnic tables, and great scenery. I believe I took advantage of the 2-weeklong break to its maximum, and I am ready to continue on with Key Club activities. Page 6

KANDY VALENCIA This summer had been pretty boring but I’ve found the few fun things from it like, remodeling my room, working on my mental health and starting to box. But, the most amazing thing has been that key club, even with the whole covid situation has continued to have meeting and talk about new ideas for our new member. How we as board members can make it fun for everyone through google meets. I hope everything had an amazing summer or like me found the few fun things. I can’t wait to see our new members. :)

is a x l e l ay A e r C for the past two months, I have been binging anime. It has became an unhealthy habit for me, but rest assure I will still focus on my school work when school comes around. I was able to paint and draw again. Painting is really relaxing, it’s soothing, until you mess up. Yet it’s alright! I’ll be on my next anime binge, which is called “Given”

Wonkyung Lee |VPR 22nd, I had the honor of visiting Circle K’s general meeting. I came in not knowing what to expect, but I was delighted with what I saw. In particular, I noticed that all members seemed to bond with one another, and it felt like I was seeing a family rather than a club. Everyone was very welcoming, and the atmosphere of the meeting was very bright. There were even other Circle K clubs outside of UNLV’s that joined, and it still seemed as if everyone was very close with one another. In addition, the meeting was nicely organized. There was an On July

icebreaker that allowed members to get along with one another through engaging

,

-

activities and the agenda was very well set up in a way where the club president

.

got all his points across This meeting also gave me an inspiration that I wish to

.

implement in the upcoming school year Every club meeting had a specific theme

,

and members were inspired to either dress or bring an object that represented

.

the theme This particular idea will be very engaging for members to get to know

,

one another and enjoy the lightheartedness aspect of the club

Page 15

Elisa Joya Velis | Secretary 22nd was an incredibly fun moment for our club. As college students, they (UNLV’s circle k board) presented themselves and their material in the most professional yet welcoming matter! In the past, our

them really helped us all step out of our

They also set a grand example to us by being able to manage multiple events and

.

projects at once Having invited us to about

2-3 of them. And with that they also set

another example as leaders who give back to their community by working with

+movements like Yemen’s famine crisis

fundraisers that would donate to situations

.

and the Black Lives Matter movement

,

They did this by offering a virtual talent

show night where people would pay for raffles and have a chance to win a gift card

“goody” bags that contained goodies like candy, and also social virtual events. While hosting these, they also held the perfect example of something our own club had yet to fully approach; including their club theme into the work they do. Their club theme was “love notes” and they included this things like their slide presentation and even goody bag project. UNLV’s Circle K club are yet another club who have treated us amazingly and we hope to stay in contact for future meetings/events. It was a wonderful experience Valley Keyclub will cherish. while the rest of the profit went to charity or organizing

Page 16

LAST WORDS We hope you’ve enjoyed our monthly update so far! We’re excited to see what the future has for us! As for right now, we hope our school year goes well, and that key club will grow more and more each today! Till next time!
