WARRIOR GUIDE TO GIVING & GETTING INVOLVED

Valley Christian

WHO WE ARE

Dear VCS Family and Friends,

At Valley Christian Schools (VCS), we believe that what we build together is far greater than what any of us could build alone. That’s the heart behind the Warrior Club—a vibrant community of parents, alumni, faculty, staff, family, and friends who give generously of their time, talents, and resources to support VCS’ mission, vision, and students.

The Warrior Club unites all who give annually to the school or serve through volunteer opportunities. It’s not an exclusive group but rather a growing movement of people committed to our students, our mission, and our future. From financially supporting our Warrior Fund to welcoming families at campus events, from planning fundraisers to welcoming new families, Warrior Club members are the heart of a thriving VCS community.

We invite you to find your place in this movement. In the pages ahead, you’ll discover opportunities to get involved in ways that are meaningful to you, such as giving, volunteering, and connecting with other families who care deeply about the same mission.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10

Together, we are shaping hearts and minds, setting an example for the next generation to lead with wisdom, courage, honor, and sacrifice. Your involvement, however you’re called to give or serve, makes a real and lasting difference.

Please consider this your official invitation to join the Warrior Club through both your generosity and your presence. I’d be honored to connect with you as you find your place in this thriving community.

With gratitude,

VCS

and Director of Community Development and Advancement cstockhaus@vcs.net | 408.362.7649

THE WARRIOR CLUB

A COMMUNITY OF SUPPORTERS WHO GIVE AND GET INVOLVED

The Warrior Club is a dynamic community of parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends who are passionate about supporting the mission and vision of Valley Christian Schools.

We believe it is essential to equip the next generation with the highest quality education and a foundation of Christian faith and values to impact their families, community, and the world. Central to our vision is the belief that community and generosity are vital to creating a thriving, supportive environment where students can excel.

Through giving and service, the Warrior Club ensures that VCS students have the resources, experiences, and support they need to grow academically, spiritually, and personally.

HOW TO JOIN THE WARRIOR CLUB

When you give a gift of any amount during the school year (July 1–June 30), you are welcomed into the Warrior Club. Members can further engage through Leadership Giving Circles and meaningful volunteer opportunities that align with Valley Christian Schools’ mission and values. Together, we’re shaping a generation of leaders who will serve and make a lasting difference in the world.

WHAT WE DO

The Warrior Club unites the Valley Christian Schools community, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends through volunteer involvement, financial support, and initiatives that build connection and shared purpose. This commitment strengthens VCS and ensures a unified, enduring foundation of support.

HOW WE DO IT

We cultivate a purpose-driven, relational, and mission-focused community dedicated to supporting VCS. By living generously, committing fully, and honoring our promises, we inspire others to do the same. Our actions and values create a ripple effect of generosity and service that extends across every VCS campus and into the broader community. Through our shared dedication, we invite others to join us in making a lasting impact, both now and for generations to come.

For additional information, please contact our Advancement team at advancement@vcs.net or visit vcs.net/warriorclub.

Warrior Club Leadership Circle*

The Warrior Club Leadership Circle celebrates and unites community members who make substantial contributions. Members are acknowledged in our Annual Giving Report and receive invitations to exclusive events throughout the year, depending on their membership level. This circle fosters deeper connections with school leaders and other supporters.

*Our Warrior Club Leadership Circle is denoted by the asterisk in the member chart above.

The WARRIOR FUND

What is the Warrior Fund?

The Warrior Fund is our yearly fundraising campaign that supports programs, projects, and services not included in tuition.

Why is the Warrior Fund critical?

Tuition funds operations. Philanthropy fuels vision.

While tuition covers 100% of our daily operations, philanthropy enhances our campus and programs, making VCS the school we love today.

Valley Christian Schools’ vision is a world where all students pursue their personal Quest for Excellence™. Through the philanthropy and generosity of our community, we see this vision come to life.

What does the Warrior Fund support?

• Engaging students with the highest quality academic and extracurricular opportunities

• Attracting, retaining, and empowering talented professionals to innovate and create world-class educational opportunities

• Enhancing our academics, arts, and athletics programs and facilities on all campuses

• Financial Assistance for families with a demonstrated need

Who Gives?

Everyone! We hope for 100% participation as parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, and staff contribute to the Warrior Fund. Our unity enhances the spirit of the Warrior community and demonstrates confidence to our major donors, foundations, and corporations.

donors are recognized in our Annual Giving Report (AGR) for gifts given each school fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).

Our Founding Purpose - that the students might know that “in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge...so that whatsoever they do in word or in deed will be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him,” (Colossians 2:3, 3:17).

Impact GIVING

Capital Giving

Periodically, we seek contributions from our community to build or improve the learning and athletic spaces on our campuses. Without capital giving, we could not provide the high-quality learning environment that helps our students thrive. The beautiful campuses that we have today are because of the generosity of past donors.

Designated Funds

Each year, gifts to the Warrior Fund provide vital support for the areas of greatest need across all VCS campuses. When you give to the Warrior Fund you help every student thrive—supporting academics, spiritual life, faculty, wellness, and more.

Some donors are also passionate about making an additional impact in a specific area. If there’s a part of the Valley Christian experience that is especially meaningful to you, we invite you to designate your gift to one of the following funds—each designated to meet targeted needs while aligning with our mission.

Financial Assistance

Our financial assistance program is available to current and prospective students with demonstrated financial needs across all campuses. Financial assistance allows qualified students to become Warriors who might not otherwise afford to.

Campus Support

You can make a gift to support your specific campus and directly benefit the greatest needs at the elementary, junior high, or high school.

Program Support

You can make a gift to support a specific program, such as Athletics, Conservatory, AMSE, BEI, Wellness, or Spiritual Formation.

Faculty & Staff

Love Gift

One impactful way The Warrior Fund supports our teachers and staff is through the tradition of the Love Gift, a Christmastime bonus for the dedicated teachers and staff of VCS.

Each year, our Parent Teacher Prayer Fellowships (PTPF) ask the VCS community to prayerfully consider contributing to The Warrior Fund in support of the Love Gift to show our incredible educators, tangibly, how much we appreciate them serving and loving our children throughout the school year. vcs.net/lovegift

Teachers’ Assistance

In partnership with the HAGE Foundation, the Teachers’ Assistance Fund was created in 2021 to support and retain high-quality teachers in our very high cost of living area.

You can designate your annual gift to the Warrior Fund to support specific campuses or programs—such as VCES, VCJH, VCHS, Athletics, AMSE, BEI, or the Conservatory. These designated areas exist thanks to the generosity and passions of dedicated donors. To explore how you can make a meaningful impact at VCS, please connect with Christi Stockhaus at cstockhaus@vcs.net or Stephanie Rosas at srosas@vcs.net

At Valley Christian Schools, we partner with parents to nurture and equip students to lead and serve with excellence, grounded in the truth of God’s Word. Guided by our Quest for Excellence — aspiring to reflect the nature, character, and works of Christ for God’s glory — and the ACTS initiative, we pursue aligned leadership, authentic community, transformational communication, and faithful stewardship, welcoming every student into an environment shaped by Christian values.

There are easy and convenient ways for you to give throughout the year. Visit give.vcs.net to learn more about our giving opportunities.

Monetary Gifts

Gifts by Mail

Please make checks payable to “Valley Christian Schools” and send them to: Valley Christian Schools Attn: Advancement Office 100 Skyway Drive San Jose, CA 95111

Online Gifts

Donors can choose to give a one-time gift or set up a recurring gift directly on our website, give.vcs.net. Gifts can be given either with a card or can be set up directly with a bank using direct debit.

Matching Gifts

Frequently, employers have matching gift programs, including Google, Apple, Adobe, and many others. If you (or your spouse) work for a company with a matching program, you could possibly double your impact for our students. Appropriate paperwork can be secured from your company’s Human Resources Department.

Gifts of Stock

Make a bigger impact by donating stock or other appreciated assets! Compared with donating cash, or selling your appreciated securities and contributing the after-tax proceeds, you may be able to increase your gift and your tax deduction. We have made it easy to give in the form of stocks, ETFs, or cryptocurrency with a partnership with Overflow, app.overflow.co/valleychristian

Recurring Gifts

Donors may set up a recurring (multi-month) gift transaction through the VCS website. This option enables donors to give larger gifts in small installments for a preset period.

Memorial & Honorary Gifts

This is a great way to honor a teacher, a friend, or a loved one, while supporting the school simultaneously. You can designate an honoree or indicate a memorial on the online giving page comments. A special card will be sent to the family of the individual being honored, announcing that a gift was made to the school in their honor (omitting the amount of the gift).

Anonymous Giving

We respect any donor’s wish to remain anonymous. You can choose to make an anonymous gift (the specific gift will be noted as anonymous) or be an anonymous donor (every gift made would be anonymous, and your name would appear as “Anonymous” in our Annual Giving Report).

Sponsor Partnership MAKE AN IMPACT WITH YOUR BUSINESS

Sponsor partnerships play a vital role in advancing the mission of Valley Christian Schools by directly supporting the student experience. When your business, foundation, or family partners with VCS, you become part of a lasting legacy that uplifts and equips the next generation. Whether through high-profile events like the Quest Ball and Golf Classic or ongoing visibility opportunities such as jumbotron features at athletic events, our sponsors make a tangible difference. Annual sponsorships not only enhance individual events but also provide year-round engagement and recognition, offering meaningful exposure while strengthening our vibrant community.

Volunteer OPPORTUNITIES

Parents and alumni families are essential to the fabric of our Warrior Community. By pouring into the lives of our students and encouraging and supporting our staff and faculty, you will find new purpose and friendships. We hope all families will get involved through various events and opportunities every year. The success of every event relies heavily on our volunteers, and we encourage all to participate in an area that suits their time and talents.

Warrior Club Volunteers

The Warrior Club unites dedicated volunteers from every corner of our K-12 Valley Christian Schools community, including current parents, alumni, faculty, and staff. Whether you’re volunteering with our Spiritual Formation team, cheering on Athletics, or welcoming new families, there are countless opportunities to engage and make an impact. The Warrior Club exists to celebrate all that God is doing at VCS, honor those who help make it possible, and extend the invitation to everyone in our community to be part of it.

Campus Involvement

Parent Teacher Prayer Fellowship (PTPF)

Each campus is supported by an amazing PTPF group dedicated to meeting the unique needs of its school community. Many parents share that the friendships formed through PTPF have lasted well beyond their children’s time at VCS. Be on the lookout for communications from your campus early in the school year to get involved, or reach out directly to your campus office.

Members of the VCS community gather weekly to pray for our students, faculty, and staff. If you’d like to join one of these faithful prayer groups, please reach out to the appropriate contact for your campus:

Planned GIVING

The Shechem Oak Society empowers our community to make an extraordinary impact on future generations. The society comprises all who generously bequeath legacy gifts to Valley Christian Schools.

God assured Abraham of keeping His promise to grant the land to Abraham’s descendants. Shechem holds a significant place in this narrative—it’s where Jacob excavated a well and erected an altar, where Joseph’s family laid his remains to rest, where Joshua delivered his parting words in service to the Lord, and where Jesus revealed Himself as the Messiah to the Samaritan woman at the well (Genesis 12:6, 33:18, Joshua 24:26, John 4:12). Shechem stands as a powerful symbol of God’s faithfulness across generations. We fervently pray that VCS, like Shechem, will serve as a reminder of God’s unwavering faithfulness in Silicon Valley and worldwide.

At a time when many American educational institutions are straying from biblical values, you can ensure that Valley Christian Schools continues its Quest for Excellence™ for future generations. Join us in providing high-quality Christ-centered education to our children and grandchildren by including VCS in your will.

VCS partners with Thompson & Associates to offer confidential and complimentary estate planning consultations to our board members, administrators, faculty, staff, and community. Join my wife, Kris, myself, and others in discovering the most tax-efficient means of transferring your estate to benefit your family and your passions.

You may email advancement@vcs.net or call my office at 408-513-2503. If you have already included VCS in your planned giving, kindly inform us so we may include you in our Shechem Oak Society.

Looking forward,

Alumni
