Massa Marittima is famous for its walls that extend over the territory breaking their rhythm only to leave space for seven beautiful doors. Among its buildings the most important are Torre del Candeliere, located near the site of the intervention, the Palazzo Comunale and the Cathedral of San Cerbone. The walls also enclose a particular systemdefined by the succession of the Gothic lot that, at a certain point, is presented as “fragmented”, “broken”.

The building was created with the intention of being the completion of this system. The area is also closely related to the walls thanks to a fragment of it that, detaching, lies on them, becoming in turn the completion of a further systemof buildings. The project wants to recall the typical home-workshop, a place where the craftsman can live, think, create. The ground floor is a space articulated in blocks: it is accessed by a large square placed close to the walls. The atrium is conceived as the fulcrum of the building from which the volumes used for laboratories, workshops, warehouses and exhibition areas are articulated. The first floor is accessible fromthe central atriumand is divided into two apartments and a double-height environment from which you can observe the laboratories below. Outside, an exhibition space is defined by a small volume, a fragment of the main block that detaches and binds to the walls. The choice of materials derives, similarly, fromthe tradition of Massa Marittima, where the presence of travertine is strong.

The building is located within the pre-existing nucleus of San Polo, with an orientation that takes into account the trend of the Sun and the movement of the winds.

The project is aimed at a family of four people and the spaces have been designed with considerable attention to the needs and also to the specific demands of the members of the family.

In addition, a bioclimatic greenhouse facing south improves living conditions. It’s made up of glass openers, in this way the exchange of air is favored, so as to have a healthy environment.

The structure consists of a systemof steel beams and pillars and ceilings made of trapezoidal sheets. he choice of cladding materials differs from those typical of these areas: black corrugated sheet metal panels were used for the construction of the roof, the north-west wall and window screens. The remaining façades were clad in marble-effect porcelain tiles. The screens have been realized with trapezoidal sheet panels and are vertically sliding hiding the openings completely. In this way the house has the possibility to change its appearance, becoming “eclectic”.

XXII SCEDIONISII. ASTOPONTHEVIAFRANCIGENA.

The traveller’s path is a line that proceeds beyond the limits of the logical dualismof directions and extends fromthe sea to the mountain, fromheaven to earth. The pilgrim, on tired legs drags his story, preserves it, fragments it, keeping it alive. Time preserves the body, shaped by the flow of civilizations, of a tower. Ruin is the driving force behind the events of modern man, matter is remodelled without abandoning the spirit, the present welcomes the memories of an ancient story and passes themdown. Afallen tower abandons its momentumtowards the sky and becomes a path and lodging, tired, becomes a teacher of modern man and invites himto cross time and space to cancel the dimension of dust and walk the streets of the world. The project runs along a longitudinal line parallel to the former Via Francigena. The shape of the building induces the user to make an architectural path that starts from the largest body in which all the functions of reception are carried out and reaches an outdoor area, sacred place and ruin base of the tower.

The traveler continues his pilgrimage inside of the structure physically punctuated by two different times, the first that of the horizontal path, through the dynamism and needs of the body and the second, the vertical one in which one is induced to a static and spiritual pilgrimage. The sacred place, oriented according to the original tower of San Genesio, is the last stage of the route. The plan of the building is characterized by the presence of the imposing perimeter walls that house vertical connections, services and warehouses. The ground floor is divided into three functional areas that follow each other without interruption: the reception, the common area and the canteen. A balustrade leads to the rooms of the upper floor whose layout is rhythmic scanning of the alternation of solids and voids that allow the light to spread in the floor be-

low through the skylights. The sleeping areas with their services are located on the upper floor. Each room is equipped with a loggia overlooking the surrounding hilly landscape. The modular openings that follow each other in the facade are a reference to the archetypal shape of the pontoon holes on the rigid perimeters of the towers, in this case on the road side take on smaller dimensions by placing a filter between the road and the building, On the other hand, the facade exposed from the side of the hills has openings that maintain the same form but with larger dimensions assuming the functions of overlooking the loggias in the first floor and large openings on the garden in the ground floor.

Vinicunca, also called “Rainbow Mountain” is situated in the Cusco region of Peru. Its peculiarity is its appearance consisting of parallel streaks of seven different colors due to the presence of minerals of which the area is covered.

The Vinicunca Center, located near Vinicunca, is an eco-tourismcomplex with the aimof raising awareness about the importance of the environment, promoting tourismto the Rainbow Mountains and knowing the local culture, offering activities outside and inside the structure in such a way as to generate and build a bond between man and nature itself, a bond based on mutual respect.

With the aim of making known the techniques of tissue production typical of the area, laboratories have been designed in which it is possible to learn themand put theminto practice.

Outdoor activities, however, are aimed at raising awareness of the importance of nature and its conservation.

The structure is also open to accommodate an occasional audience, hosting exhibitions thanks to its exhibition spaces and catering services.

Different combinations of volumes have been studied, also defining the optimal heights for each single space: we therefore have sorting area, offices, storage, conference room, hall, sewing workshop, painting workshop, toilets, exhibition area and shop, cafeteria.

The roots of memory, a new cultural center for Mosciano Sant’Angelo, Italy.

The history of the ancient village of Mosciano Sant’Angelo, once called “Musiano”, began when a group of Benedictine monks decided to build on the hills of Teramo a small monastery surrounded by some buildings.

Gradually the complex extended and was enclosed by an imposing wall punctuated by seven towers to which was added an octave that had a predominantly defensive task.

The voices, the stories, the lives of its people intertwined with the scent of the earth, the breeze from the sea, the red color of the bricks of Musiano, which, like roots, have grafted into the ground, branching out over time, until today, until breaking.

The break of the roots is tangible and is savoured, bitter, along the empty and silent streets that in recent decades mourn sadly the lack of the voices of its inhabitants, the flavors and melodies of its festivals and traditions of the country, now forgotten.

Fromthe study of this history, the urban morphology and the characteristics of the place was born a building that contains all the will to bring back to life these sensations, a fragment that is grafted like a root in the soil of this village and is an element of connection between the latter and its people, bringing to life a lost dialogue.

The building contains a theatre and a museum in which the relics and photos of the place are exhibited, but above all it consists of spaces that allow interactions between people, convivial areas and versatile in which to establish ties.

Because architecture is a set of relationships, first of all.

Seabreeze Restaurant, Baku, Azerbaijan

The restaurant Seabreeze is divided into two levels and is located in a coastal town called Nardaran, in the province of Baku, Azerbaijan. It is located inside a building that will host offices, accommodation and a hotel.

For this project, the client explicitly requested an Italian style and the central theme is conviviality. Amonumental staircase captures the attention of the visitor and divides the space specularly, the left side is intended for the pizzeria, where it was designed a simpler furniture, while the right side is a more elegant restaurant where we find circular seats surrounded by pots in which native plants are placed. In front of the staircase a bar allows you to drink and eat something quick, fromhere you can observe the preparation of pizzas. On the left side there is a space for children, the kitchen is located in the opposite side of the entrance. On the upper floor there is the “lounge” area with another bar, sofas and special tables overlooking the lower floor. The restaurant is under construction.

Design of the new headquarters of Sistema Ambiente S.p.A., located in Lucca, Italy - Design competition (Concorsiawn). At studio Bottega 17.

The competition requires the design of the new headquarters of the company that has decided to settle in a building not yet completed. The main requirements of the client are to create a building that reflects the importance of the reuse of waste and provides for the clear division of the areas related to offices from those used for the storage of waste, to washing the vehicles and so on. The project has a front part where the areas are also accessible to the public and a double height area for the storage of materials. An internal courtyard is illuminated by zenith light and allows office employees to relax during breaks fromwork. The spaces are completely illuminated thanks to the glass subdivisions and the large windows overlooking the courtyard. In addition to this, the facade was made of “polly brick”, a new sustainable coating made using

The intervention of urban regeneration is located in portion of the city with a strong historical-morphological imprint, which requires an urban-scale reflection aimed at safeguarding the inseparable link between architecture and the city. The reconstruction aims to preserve the limit of the built. Adouble-height system that acts as an entrance filter between the city and the theater, and that also wants to be a newpublic space, in synergy with the nearby square. The NewTheatre intends to be a cultural place of primary importance

for the city capable of increasing the architectural value of the space and becoming an identity element with strong urban recognition and high symbolic and social value, as a newnode in the network of cultural buildings and public spaces. An attractive location and a community space, a flexible and versatile building, able to host shows and musical rehearsals if necessary.

2 / Competition: New Fiorentina’s Stadium, the Stadio Artemio Franchi and requalification of Campo di Marte, Florence, Italy

Competition for the new stadiumArtemio Franchi in Florence, at Eutropia. Third classified. The competition involved the design of a new stadium and the redevelopment of the area of Campo di Marte Nord. My contribution: Realization of the photographic insertion, of the explosion axonometric, environmental sections, masterplan.

The project puts sport first as a social need. Asports park, surrounded by the earth movements generated by the reuse of the soil, delimits the area and protects it acoustically. Some of these dunes contain gyms, swimming pools and sports fields, as well as directional, receptive and commercial activities, the latter covered by a green “plate” on which there are paths and a bike path that cross the entire park. At the center a green lung allows the connection with nature.

The project stems from an approach of respect for the work of Pier Luigi Nervi as a real “modern monument” that must be returned to the city. Respecting its history has led to the conception of a New Stadium conceived as a dual system between a historical treasure chest and an innovative object shaped like a bronzed leaf. The original structure of the stadiumbecomes the protagonist, it contains the “new bronzed leaf”. A “stadium in the stadium”. The stadium hosts 40,000 seats divided into five sectors (grandstand, marathon, fiesole curve, railway curve and guest sector), inside, in the floors below, you can find spaces for gyms, with their services, massage areas, restaurants and auditorium, as well as a real museum.

Restoration project of an old farmhouse in San Miniato, Pisa. Outside rustic, inside minimal. The project aims to preserve the Tuscan traditions, adding a touch of modernity that characterizes the interior of this structure immersed in the hills of San Miniato. The project liberated the space, becoming the perfect synthesis of contemporary needs and rural tradition. Outside a house almost camouflage, inside a contemporary shelter. The space welcomes, the light protagonist, the soft colors give space to the bright ones of nature. The design idea focuses on a material research that wants to define a tangible link with the identity of the place trying to rediscover it, enhance it and make it participate in architecture. The brick defines plays of light and shadow that create variable patterns by drawing the facades making themeclectic, never equal. Reasons that accompany the choice to maintain the traditional jealousy that gives character to the building.

Mount Shahdagh is a mountain peak of the Greater Caucasus range, located in Azerbaijan, close to the border with Russia. A place to practice sports, relax and connect with nature.

The request of the owner of a famous chain of restaurants was to make one within one of the resorts in the area. An undivided environment creates interaction between people, a large table allows you to recall the conviviality and a bar area allows you to stop for a quick drink before returning to immerse yourself in nature. The spaces recall the colors of the landscape and soft colors like snow.

Drawing, like any other formof art, means observing and reflecting, understanding. It has intrigued me since I was a child, allowing me to look carefully at objects and people, giving me the opportunity to understand themin order to reproduce themon paper, giving birth to my attention to detail, the calm that is transmitted from the body to the hand, patience, delicacy and emotion in seeing that the drawing is no longer a simple image, but a part of me imprinted on paper.

Just like drawing, photography has taken on a fundamental role in my life. I photographed above all to understand, to understand, because through a lens we show, we hide, but, above all, we know ourselves. Aphoto tells the others, what surrounds us, but first of all tells who we are, tells our person.

Telling oneself through a visual narration, perhaps, is why this is one of my greatest passions.

Passionate about analog and digital photography, here are some of my shots.
