Research & Development Locations

Valent BioSciences headquarters and the Melnik and Shafer Biorational Research Center are located in Libertyville, Illinois. The Biorational Research Center serves as the global hub for product research and development activities.

The research, production, and commercialization activities for our arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) business are located in Grants Pass, Oregon. This facility includes laboratories, mycorrhizal fungi propagation, production, and finishing and packaging. To meet the increasing demands and projected future growth for AMF products, a new manufacturing facility is being constructed in White City, Oregon.

Biorational Manufacturing

Located in Osage, Iowa, Valent BioSciences’ manufacturing site is the first facility ever designed and built for the purpose of manufacturing biorational products. This state-of-the-art facility, designed to accommodate future growth, supplies the majority of our products derived from fermentation.

The Osage manufacturing site boasts several important environmental initiatives. A 34-acre prairie reconstruction provides native habitats for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife. At maturity, the prairie will sequester 170 tons of carbon dioxide annually, mitigating the effects of greenhouse gases. Additionally, a 12-acre, 1.5-megawatt solar field adjacent to the prairie produces enough energy to offset a portion of the manufacturing facility’s total annual electricity usage.

To deliver its biorational solutions to customers in a timely and efficient manner, Valent BioSciences works with numerous regional sales affiliates around the world.

These sales affiliates are dedicated to distributing not only Valent BioSciences’ biorational products, but conventional products from Sumitomo Chemical and other companies as well.
