Val de Vie Estate is home to many talented professionals from all walks of life. Craig Smith, homeowner and interior designer, is no exception.

Through his work, Craig focuses on crafting beautiful yet practical interiors that are perfect for the whole family to enjoy. He adapts his own personal style depending on the needs and requirements of his clients while also focusing on incorporating existing and often much-loved pieces of furniture into a new design concept.

Craig works across the planning and layout stages to ensure that each element, from furniture to soft furnishings, work to complement the space. With a background in fne art and textile design, Craig has an innate understanding of the interplay between fabrics and their surroundings. Drawing on his expertise, he selects fabrics that elevate the overall aesthetic, resulting in a stunning outcome.

He worked for several years with Gert Gertzen of GC Gertzen Interiors on projects including luxury hotels, game lodges and residential properties. After moving to Val de Vie Estate in 2012, Craig opened Smith’s Interiors, which is located at Drakenstein Sentrum.

Warming Winter Roasts

Indulge in the comforting favours of winter at the Polo Pavilion by Back’s every Sunday from 11:30 – 17:00. Enjoy a three course meal, presented in a sharing format. To start, savour a piping hot bowl of soup accompanied by freshly baked bread, followed by roast chicken, pork or beef served with warm and cold accompaniments. For dessert, options such as bread and butter pudding or malva pudding will be served with hot custard or ice cream.

For adults, the price is R295 per person, and full payment is required to secure a booking. Children can enjoy a main meal and dessert for R95, with a R50 deposit. Bookings are essential and must be made by 12:00 on a Friday. A limited number of tables will be available for walk-ins; however, these diners will only be able to order from the standard a la carte menu.
